The breakfast was wonderful, and our stay included a weeknight so we were also offered dinner. The 24 hour coffee machines were awesome and made really good coffee!

The staff accidentally registered us for a one night stay instead of 2. We were in town for an early morning medical procedure, so we were recovering and napping at noon when staff entered our room twice without knocking in confusion that we were still there. Also, the in room soap and shampoo/conditioner could be updated to a better brand.

room i stayed in was extremely clean and comfortable, the room service attendant was very polite and gave me extra towels and she was very polite and respectful. also the dinner was very good in the dining area. Breakfast was excellent, room was very clean, shuttle was excellent and so lmportant for getting to appointments on time and getting picked up later in the day.

Spaghetti/meatballs dinner was awful! Otherwise dinners have been a nice extra to come back to. 24hr coffee, fresh cookies were great!! Desk tried to accommodate any request I had. Weekend shuttle didn’t run late enough for someone who needs to be in hospital with a loved one.

The Heartland is an amazing place to stay if you are there for the U of I hospitals and clinics. The staff makes it easy for anybody who has to be at the hospital. The shuttle driver was amazing. He made sure that I made it to River Landing and came back to pick me up I could make my appointment at the U. I don't think that is a typical drop-off. My car did not start and after a series of issues with getting it dealt with, the hotel let me stay in the lobby til it was all taken care of. They were very generous and helpful. Oh, and Jethro's next door is a nice addition.

The hotel could use a facelift. It is starting to show its age.

Breakfast was good and space for it was ample. I expected biscuits and gravy but was satisfied with waffles and sausage and thankful for the juice and that other choices were available. The bathroom was clean and the shower is bright and spacious.

Our bathroom toilet seat was loose and I got it tightened with a coin. I'm mentioning it only to let you know. Room lighting is a little lacking. And I would like a restaurant listing and mapping and users views.

Freshly made hot breakfast; excellent variety of food choices; good coffee; friendly staff; fresh fruit--much appreciated. Not a trace of cigarette smoke anywhere. Quiet room, hallways.

There should be a grab bar in the tub/shower. It wasn't a problem for me personally, but I noticed a fair amount of guests who were elderly and possibly somewhat disabled.

Breakfast was just okay-the usual fare of eggs and sausage heated up. Decent array of bread, bagels and English muffins.

Many restaurants nearby. Free shuttle to University Hospitals is a great service and they have a hospital rate. The bathroom looked newly renovated. There was no place to set shampoo and soap inside the shower but maybe a wall hung unit for those items is in the works. Better for the environment too.

Clean lobby, friendly staff, rooms made up daily and the weekday complimentary dinner was a very nice touch!

Houskeeper gave three light taps on the door and entered my room even though I had the do not disturb sign on my door. Luckily I was dressed lol. In her defense, I should have had the deadbolt locked.

Location is great -- near University of Iowa campus, running/cycling trails, and a short drive from downtown Iowa City. Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Free parking.

The breakfast room was cramped and very backed up when it got busy in the morning. While it's nice to choose your own coffee drink, that kind of set-up is not efficient for lots of guests at breakfast. The machine makes just one cup at a time, and it takes a while. The line was very long. The poor woman attending to the breakfast area was really strapped -- she needed some help.

It’s a bit run down and need a ceiling fan in room. We DoorDash to pizza on Saturday night and I called the front desk two hours after our order should’ve come to ask if it was there, and the overnight clerk said she tried to contact me, but couldn’t find me in the system. Stephanie Cagle was on the pizza box and my reservation was under Steph Kagel. I think she could’ve gone the extra mile to find me and said I had to eat a two hour old pizza. .
