The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The facility is nicely appointed and has the feel of a historic hotel. Cleanliness was excellent.

Everything about the hotel was good with two exceptions. the major problem is the malfunctioning A/C unit. The noise from it was so loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. The cooling down effect was minimal. Sleep at night was continuously disrupted by the A/C unit. We complained about it, two employees came to try to fix it but to no avail. The room number was 211 - TRY TO AVOID STAYING IN ROOM 211. The second minor problem - the view from the window was onto the roof. No good view.

The Historic Boone Tavern surprised us with it's homey welcome, comfortable setting, genuine, strong historical past and helpful staff. Instead of an impersonal business feel, it was like coming home. And the various plaques and pictures that told the history and strong influence Berea university has had over its century+ existence were informative and encouraging. It was wonderful to know that through some very confusing periods, Berea was assisting students and standing with the oppressed. A light in the darkness of human history! We will definitely stay there again if we are traveling through the area!

A breakfast bar would have been nice, so that we could quickly grab bagels, fruit, cereal, toast, scrambled eggs, tea/coffee in the morning. Because we had a very long drive ahead, we didn't take advantage of the "diningroom-breakfast" option. After leaving, we drove to the nearest fast food place, picked up a few items and get driving...

Absolutely divine. The building was breathtaking, from the architectural aspect to the staff. Enjoy a trip to the past in the comfy little tavern, and if you're an inquiring potential college student, pop on by Barea College right next door. I appreciate the politeness of the staff and the amount of care and attention they put into this little tavern. Many of the college students work the Tavern, and my they do a fine job. If you're looking for a calm get away, or share a love for all things history; I suggest staying at the Boone Tavern.

The location was perfect. I was there for a family event, but was able to visit and learn about Berea College and thought that was a bonus. The staff are excellent. Perfect on that account.

It was difficult to sleep. The a/c controls are not very good. The best I could figure was you could set a timer for 30 or 60 minutes, then it would stop running. So, I got up every 30 minutes, then every 60 minutes to turn it back on. I defaulted to ceiling fan and opening the window, but the ceiling fan roars (it's too loud to sleep and with the occasional car/truck rumbling by, it's not an option. Also while I think a duvet is fine in the cold weather, there's not an option for a sheet and a light blanket.

Very unique and historic inn. Great service and very friendly staff. Beautiful setting in bucolic campus village of Berea College. Not a convenient on/off from I-75 like big chain hotels, but quiet location and comfortable for sleeping. Wonderful restaurant on premises. An all around relaxing stay. Ceiling fan in the bedroom was a big plus.

Be prepared for older fixtures and tub shower in bathroom, physical room keys, and some older amenities.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful historic hotel in Berea, Kentucky for a night on the way to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The hotel was nicely decorated, clean, and amazingly beautiful. The grounds are beautiful and well up kept. Located on college a campus, it was actually a very pleasant place to visit. The queen and king bedrooms were very comfortable; we stayed in both rooms a week apart. The restaurant was very nice for breakfast and dinner; the dinner options were delicious and served nicely hot. The drinks were delicious as there was a great selection of libations. We loved our experience so much that we booked it again on our way back home from the Smokey Mountains. We would consider staying here again.

Very clean, has character, not cookie-cutter hotel like so many others. A little pricier, but I thought it was worth it. We were just passing through on our way from FL to MI, and it’s only a short drive off I-75 but staff so friendly, clean, mattress very comfortable! On our way back to I-75 in the morning we stopped at a local coffee shop to get lattes, coffee and breakfast sandwiches to go. Great stop! Shoutout to Native Bagel - great local shop. Be sure to stop there. Glad we chose HBT.

The location was beautiful, right on the Campus of Bereas College, the charm of the old building was lovely. Lot's of history to read when looking around the hotel. The food was great and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The bed, well, the mattress was awful! It was the worst mattress I've ever slept on. It was so old and worn in, ugh, just thinking about it makes me feel like I have a metal spring in my back. The person across the hall was also obnoxious. They slammed the door shut every time they entered or left. It was 4 times in a row (I'm assuming they were getting ice or snacks or something) at 1 AM. It didn't matter if it was morning, afternoon, evening, or middle of the night, they slammed the door with no care about others. Also, the cleaning staff talked loudly, and often to each other outside the rooms while we were trying to sleep, since we didn't sleep well due to the mattress, it just combined to be annoying.

It’s a wonderful old, historic Inn, so lacks some modern attributes but the charm, warmth of the staff, and setting on campus more than makes up for them. We had a dog with us and asked if we could get dinner served on the porch, and they were pleased to do so, even though we were the only ones out there. Food was great!

One addition would be very helpful—some kind of cabinet or little table so guests could put their toiletries on it and not worry about them falling in the toilet.

Hotel was beautiful and rich in History. I love that the hotel is owned by the college and supports the school. The staff was great and everyone was happy to share the history. Loved the coffee shop that also serves cocktails and small bites.

The beds could be more comfortable and the bathrooms were hard for women who do makeup. There is not any counter space to hold things. We did happen to stay in a handicap room and maybe that has something to do with it? Also, it was a hot day but the AC seemed not to be keeping the room very cool. There is a ceiling fan and that helped keep it cool in the room along with the ac. It is an older hotel so some of this is to be expected. We loved the hotel nonetheless.
