We liked the historic charm of the building. We had a king suite that had a window overlooking the drydocked Irwin. There was a full kitchenette, which was nice, a loveseat, and a seperate bedroom. The air conditioning worked well, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. Coffee was available all day. Breakfast was standard fare. The elevators worked well, which is good for a historic site, and required a key to use for security, which we appreciated. The location was great, with Old Chicago Pizza, Red Lobster, and Adventure Zone within a few steps. The lift bridge is at the end of the block and Canal Park is a few blocks away. There aren't views of the lake, but we were able to book one night over July 4, which wasn't available at several of the other Canal Park hotels. We walked to the July 4 concerts and fireworks.

The ice machine was out of order with a sign to get ice from the front desk. It would have been nice to know that when we checked in. The lobby and breakfast area did not seem to be air-conditioned and was stuffy.

Like the other Canal Park hotels, the Suites is perfectly situated to access all parts of the city, and right downtown where a lot of nice attractions and restaurants are located. The staff were all great and very friendly.

The hotel is a little bit older and could perhaps use a bit of a renovation, however, there is nothing that stood out as being bad. I think the gym could certainly use a facelift, and breakfast was par for the course, your basic, boring and standard fare. Finally, the keycards didn't always work in essential places, like calling the elevator. A new card reader could take care of this issue.

When we arrived, we just stood there for about 20 minutes and waited for our turn, although there were about three people at the reception, we were greeted and given the keys quite squeamishly and rudely, I felt that I was not welcome, there was a huge line at breakfast, it was not very convenient to choose food, the service staff was freaking out, I don’t understand at all how such people can work in this field

Breakfast was a very decent buffet. Full kitchenette in your room is wonderful. Building is very unique, loved learning about the history and seeing old pictures of the building and area. Close to the lake walk and lots of restaurants. Value for a downtown hotel was great, we would definitely stay again.

If you have an inside room you will not have an outside window, missed looking outside, since you're downtown and close to the lake not seeing out is a bummer. Sauna was broken.

Breakfast - so nice to have both hot and cold options. Location - loved being in center of things - nice to be able to walk just about everywhere. Pools - brought my 10-, 8-, and 3-year-old sons and they loved the pools. Nice to have a variety for all.

Stayed two nights and our room was not cleaned or provided with new towels on day 2. Used/wet towels were not removed, trash was not emptied, and an extra roll of toilet paper would have been nice.

We love the close proximity to the Canal Park area.

The hotel has said it's working on some updates. We didn't see any. The shower was clean, but it looked like mold was beginning to grow. Our bathroom light went out during the night when my husband got up to use it. Their new pet charge fee is ridiculous. We researched surrounding hotels that were allowing 2 dogs for the same price of one at the Suites. We always come in the summer and expect to pay more- but it was pretty pricey for the hotel just being a hotel.

The front desk staff were helpful. The morning breakfast was yummy. The rooms are unique because it is a historical building converted to suites.

The room was not fully turned before our arrival. There was food left in the refrigerator that was not ours. The bathtub drain was not attached, and there was a large hairball in the drain. The living room TV was also unplugged-however we were able to get it working again.

I was having a problem with noise and kids playing ding dong ditch with my room all evening, and they moved me without any hesitation when I went down to tell them about the problem I was having. They are awesome! I came to spend some time healing from a horrible call I had as a paramedic, so it was really nice to be taken care of in that way. I got the quiet, healing experience that I needed. Thank you so much!

Location was great for the price. Much less than the hotels on the lake shore. The hotel is in great shape and well maintained. We stayed there last approximately 30 years ago when it was new.

Had two issues with the room. The toilet seat was loose and the TV remote didn’t work. I tightened the toilet seat to make it usable. We controlled the TV using the controls on the back of the TV. Both issues were reported to the front desk when we checked out. Neither issue affected my previous responses.

The location was walkable to our concert at the Symphony Hall. Parking was convenient & free. The room was large & comfortable. The swimming pool & spa looked amazing- will use next time.

We went to breakfast at 8 am. Breakfast was to last until 9:30 am. Many of the food items were sparse or not available- no scrambled eggs. All but 2 of the breakfast table & chairs are up a story & 1/2 set of stairs. Since both tables near the breakfast buffet were occupied- I had to go upstairs to have a table. Doing that many stairs & carrying a plate of food was difficult for me. I could have sat on 1 of 2 couches to eat- but that is not conducive to eating plated food. The lobby & breakfast is large & I suggest adding 2-4 more tables & chairs there. Plus- one reason that I chose this motel was for the included breakfast- I was disappointed that breakfast items were not kept fresh & full.
