We took a side trip to Franconia from our week vacation in Portland, Maine as a nostalgia trip for us. We picked Sugar Hill Inn because we thought that was the same place we stayed when we were there over 40 years ago. Anyway, we had a wonderful one day stay, had a very friendly and enjoyable chat with Chris and his gf while having a glass of beer by the bar, had a delicious gourmet dinner in the inn's restaurant and had the best biscuit and gravy for breakfast. The entire inn was nicely and quaintly decorated and had an outside sitting area with a mountain view.

For older guests, going up to the 2nd floor was not easy.

I expected a little room in an Inn We had half of a cottage. There was free coffee, free beverages in the refrigerator, and I didn't realize this, but a sitdown breakfast was included! I have a lot of good things to say about the yogurt and granola, both of which tasted homemade . The grounds are quiet and a short drive away from all of the busy Lincoln hotels. The pool is in a beautiful wooded spot, and there is a lovely porch to sit on on the main building. We went for the dinner reservation when we got out there, and everything was so delicious. Cocktail menu was also delightful!

Everything about this property was a surprise in the best way.

It was so peaceful. I was there just as places were gearing up for the season so there was not a lot of activity which was the plan. Everyone on staff was so accomodating to the point where the massage I arranged was done in my suite due to some difficulty I have managing stairs. Food was outstanding ... so much of it and the presentation made it look too good to want to eat!

Those steps out front, tho part of the charm, are somewhat difficult to navigate. Also, as spacious as my bath was, I would have appreciated a taller toilet

Short drive off highway but still off in woods. Cozy warm place with bar and restaurant in main house. Only short drive to multiple local attactions. Also saw 2 firepit areas out back with adirondacks which if come back in nicer weather would be nice to sit by.

No in room or cottage food to order. But in the room there is a coffee maker and small frig loaded with water and soda. Water at sink took forever to get warm but shower/tub warmed up in about 5 mins.

The inn is quaint, old, and wonderful. If you are looking for deluxe, this is probably not your place. But if you want to stay an a authentic old inn with a great porch, nice pool, and comfortable rooms - Sugar Hill is for you. The breakfast is fantastic too.

Some may not like the proximity to the road which has a bit of traffic but this is true of most old inns. Not a problem for us!

Adorable inn, perfect for our girls leaf peeping weekend! Our room was one of the smaller ones but it was super cute and very comfy, not to mantion a gigantic tub! Appreciated the little extras like coffee, tea and chocolates in the room! Breakfast was delicious!!! We arrived late and left early so we really didn't get to enjoy all the property had to offer.

There's a steep staircase (well described on their website!) so if you're not traveling light, be prepared for the climb. It's work, but well worth it. Also, if you arrive late, take advantage of the circle in front to unload luggage vs. dargging it from the parking area like we did.

What didn't we like! The food was FIVE STAR every meal. The breakfasts and dinners were interesting, intentional, fresh. The location is stunning. Quaint, charming, all the words to describe a quintessential New England experience.

Wildflower cottage needs a few updates-- a new blind, heater in bathroom, but overall clean and comfortable!

Breakfast was included with our stay. It was wonderful! The apple French toast was delicious. Attentive staff, cozy but chilly environment in dining area due to drafty windows, but if you dressed warmly it was all good!

We had a little difficulty getting heat in our room. Of course we spent the night during an artic blast, so not surprising. Maintenance was able to fix the problem. The remote control to turn on the heat in the room did not function properly or so we thought; found to be an internal problem and resolved in a timely manner.

The cottage was absolutely perfect. It was true to the pictures. The restaurant in the hotel was a lovely touch to the evening. The rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

There was not anything we didn’t dislike, but when we were staying there we thought the cottage could benefit from having a Bluetooth speaker to play some music. Although the soothing classical music from the Bose stereo was nice.

Quiet, comfortable cabin. Updated bathroom with good water pressure. Bed was very comfortable. Sofa for extra seating. Nice grounds, well maintained. Main lobby is cozy and inviting with fireplace and comfortable couches. Small bar and lovely restaurant attached to main building. The breakfast provided was delicious and very filling. The staff were all very nice and helpful.
