Older very well maintained building with fireplace in entry and coffee and water station always available. Complimentary soup warming in a large pot awaited us upon our evening arrival. The bedroom was large with comfy beds and bathroom had a large shower. As many guests have commented, the breakfast was superior. Homemade muffins, typical breakfast hot items… but all well prepared and tasty, yogurt/ oat bar with fresh fruit and multiple toppings. I appreciated the addition of olives and nuts available.

The decor, staff, room , restaurant, price the whole House felt like a home away from home. So comfortable. This is nothing like a hotel. Fresh delicious breakfast that changes daily. Soup in the afternoon and hot and cold beverages available all day. Fireplace and boardgames are a bonus. Even the snow added to the ambience. I'd really like to come back when it's warm.
There is absolutely nothing I didn't like.. I didn't want to leave.

Everyone, and everything! The desk help was fantastic as well as the morning breakfast chef. I don’t eat dairy or non gluten free products. She was so helpful, friendly and always accommodating. It was a fantastic breakfast and we definitely will return. WE’re only 2 hours north of Latham.
Nothing at all… everything went well and we had absolutely no complaints.

The staff was very friendly and kind two years ago, when I first dropped my daughter off at RPI. They are the people who remind me why I stay there. This time I went again and just as the first time, the staff is kind and friendly as well. The rooms are clean with a lovely style of decoration that imbues comfort and rest. The fresh fruit water and cold water options in the lobby are fantastic. I was able to refil my water bottle for the room. The halls are well lit and nicely decorated.
The breakfast needs to be better. The fried egg looked fake but tasted alright. Hashbrowns are alright but heavy. Home fries tend to be a beeter breakfast option, in my opinion. I think they can make an economical breakfast better, and I don't think that was the case. The coffee was weak.

The beds in this hotel are very comfortable and there are three pillows per bed! The room was a good size (fairly large) and there were plenty of towels. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful! The reception area offers infused water throughout the day and scented hot towels upon arrival to refresh your face.
I stayed here last year and came back because of the outstanding homemade breakfast buffet! Unfortunately, this year has changed and while overall it is still a great offering for breakfast, many of the items are now commercially packaged items and there is not as much variety. Also, the hotel has seen it's glory days and the rooms need an upgrade as the wood is worn and there is not enough lighting.

even in the frigid cold & snow it was a lovely setting for the hotel. the interior is a throwback to the 1990's which gave it a lot of character and warmth and charm - like being in your favourite grandmothers house. the day I checked in they had complimentary home-made split pea soup (one of my favourites) & it was delicious ( the following day was french onion). also in the lobby was hot water, tea, coffee & infused water - all very much appreciated after my long trip. the room, had a small fridge & microwave. bed & bathroom were perfectly acceptable. breakfast was plentiful, with lots of tasty choices and all areas were kept neat and clean and restocked. good job century house!

Century House has been our choice when visiting friends and relatives in the area. The newly renovated room we were in was clean and beautiful. The breakfast room was bright, cheerful with appropriate seasonal decorations. Bebe, the cook and all around cheerful hostess, provided ample choices all 4 mornings for guests with various dietary needs. The thoughtful pot of warm soup at the front desk and the warm hand towels in the evenings provided an old world charm. It made you feel like a guest. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, thoroughly enjoyed the prime rib as well as the lobster rolls. The service was very good.

Cleanliness and location
Front desk staff at the time of check in wasn't very welcoming which is unusual for a hospitality industry. He seemed tired and uninterested in providing any information which we were looking for. For instance, the hotel doesn't have elevators and for guests to be carrying their luggage in hand and climbing stairs is something he should have mentioned or at least facilitated. He kept going inside the room right by the front desk and we had to keep calling him for every question we had. Other than the front desk experience, the other staff we interacted with was nice.

Everything
I have congestive heart failure and they would not put me on the first floor. I struggled to breathe and almost passed out on the stairs a few times

They have pet friendly rooms which are situated with their own entrance that includes pet waste bags and a trash can and the rooms are farther from others so you don't have to worry any noise your pet makes will disrupt other guests. Also appreciated the floor was not carpeted so if your pet spills food/water or has an accident the clean-up is easy. I thought all the amenities in the lobby were great and the breakfast was delicious with many options.
The light bulbs seem almost florescent so the lighting felt a bit harsh. There was no information in the room (wifi access, phone number for the restaurant) so I had to text reception multiple times to find out how to get these things.
