The location is perfect! It is a quite nice place. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The beds were very comfy. The staff were exceptionally nice. We loved that we could access the rooftop terrace. We had a lovely time with some wine and our own charcuterie.
When we arrived, there were a bunch of models doing a photoshoot in the lobby. We went up to our room to get ready for dinner. We came downstairs to the bar to have a cocktail before dinner. We couldn't access the bar, because the models were taking up all of the space and so we couldn't. we just left and went to the restaurant. Then the next day they closed the elevators down so they could refinish the hardwoods on the first floor. They were closed for 2 days so everyone had to use the stairs.

Location Style -architecture of building Size of bedroom / suite
This property was listed on booking .com as having wine / cheese afternoons on roof top terrace / bar It didn’t You had to go 3 floors down from terrace to bar to get a drink as terrace wasnt manned / no food The “complementary “ breakfast was not good at all , a wrapped muffin , tiny orange juice in plastic cup , chopped fruit in plastic which you have to order the night before via qr code , Was not like their photos at all and made hotel feel like a backpackers motel , No. Iron in “ executive “ suite No water in suite No cutlery odd as was a “kitchen”

Liked the style and character of the hotel, the roof deck area was very nice, our room was very spacious, elevator was quick and plenty of hot water in shower. Room seemed well cleaned. Small but nice desk space with stool that I used for working on laptop. Good location, also directly beside Harris Teeter. Self parking was also close to hotel, across a quiet, low traffic side street.
with it being an older building, our particular room only had one window, which made lighting minimal. also, lack of dresser gave us no where to unpack certain clothing items, so we lived out of suitcases instead. lack of stopper in tub prevented my daughter from taking a bath that she wanted. I requested one, but we never got it. The room description had indicated a sofa and fireplace, but our particular room had neither. I was advised that despite that being in description, it was only in some rooms.

Great location, love the look, decor and vibe of the hotel. The high ceilings made the rooms feel even more spacious and we were very comfortable with 4 of us. We were able to walk to everything. Our carriage tour was about an 8 minute walk as well as the market and other restaurants and shopping. King Street is about 10-12 minutes. I also loved that Harris Teeter is across the street! I love this grocery store and it was very convenient to grab drinks and snacks.
My only real complaint is that our room did not have a light on the ceiling, and it needed some additional light on the far side of the room. It was not something that ruined our trip, but was a little frustrating when digging through suitcases. I also noticed an odd smell in the lobby that I expect had something to do with the fact that it is an old building with old plumbing close to the water, but I feel I have encountered this in older, often European hotels, so it did not really faze me or take away from our experience at all. The fact that it is an updated older building is what gave the hotel so much charm and a unique look.

My husband and I have stayed at the Ansonborough many times and were so happy to see that had completed their renovations. And I must say they looked fabulous. We were concerned that with new upgrades the character gets replaced. We felt that they did a good job of adding modern touches and still were able to keep the character as well. The bed was so very comfortable and having a cozy fireplace was so very nice. The front desk personnel were so friendly and accommodating. We arrived early and expecting to just be able to get a parking pass and return at check-in time but the lady at the desk was so very kind and said she wanted to go ahead and get us in a room, so she upgraded our room to accommodate us. Thank you so very much for the pleasant surprise and beautiful smile. Great customer service! You made our day.
Sadly, we did have a disappointment with our morning breakfast order. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich and when he went to pick it up, he could not locate any personal in the breakfast area. So, he heard voices and stuck his head around the corner to inquire and encountered an abrupt older lady that wanted to know what it was he wanted, he told her he placed an online order, and they said it was not received. When they got the order together the sandwich was over microwaved (we think) as the cheese was running all out of the biscuit. The staff in the breakfast area seemed to be unhelpful and non-customer friendly.

There is a great outdoor deck on the third floor - great to sit and read or socialize. Staff was very helpful. The hotel was originally a paper warehouse; the original conversion and subsequent remodeling preserved this industrial feel, e.g. beautiful, massive wooden beams in the common areas. This gives the place its character and charm.
They advertise as breakfast included, but don't expect much. Coffee, fruit, and a pastry. If you're looking for a full breakfast, that will be extra. Parking was $30 per day, which is steep given the already high room rates.

This was a spur of the moment decision to spend an extra two days in Charleston. The Ansonborough was perfect for a romantic get-away. A huge bedroom, very comfortable bedding, and outstanding service. The complimentary boxed breakfast was good - excellent local pastries. Fruit was a bit underripe. Parking was free and just across the street. Within the historic district, so close walking distance to the market and the best restaurants.
The only complaint we had was the morning coffee - Keurig and lobby - very weak and flavorless.

Good location. Cool building. Very nice big room. Very clean.
Had to pre order continental breakfast online which was confusing. Did for one morning but someone must have picked ours up because wasn’t there after getting email confirmation. When asked staff, they shrugged shoulders and said wasn’t there. No help at all. We could have pushed it but needed to get on the road. Know it’s more convenient for hotel to do that way and probably saves a lot of money and is less wasteful but seems rather disappointing when complimentary breakfast is advertised.

One of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed at. Great vibe and excellent one of the kind rooms. Comfortable beds and great bathrooms. the location is perfect for Charleston - right in the middle of everything but quiet and comfortable.
no free water with check in. At this price point water should be free with your stay, charging $3 for a bottle just feels like being nickel and dimed

The room was very comfortable and split level, so it was great when traveling with other people while still allowing privacy. The coffee was great in the lobby. The gym was also one of the better gyms I have used while traveling. The machines were clean and well maintained.
The better breakfast was for an extra charge.
