It's very cool concept - no person service hotel. The building is amazing , very well maintained and kept clean. Bursts of bright colours and decorations.. Comfy beds, nice strong showers.
I am a claustrophobic , and when we booked the room , there was a little description of it on the site( skylight , king bed) . The room was very small and no windows, except small opening on the ceiling , with inside light.. Like sleeping in the closet, my first night was a nightmare , having a panic attack , struggling with breathing.. I wish there would be more information about the rooms.

We really loved the vibe of the place. I loved how they carried the church theme throughout the hotel and room with cathedral mirrors etc. The lobby was beautiful and comfortable to just hang out in. The bed was comfortable! The towels were super soft. They had a Dyson blow dryer. A great assortment of snacks and coozies with the name of the hotel on it. The grounds were beautiful. The little photo booth they had was such a fun touch! Parking right across the street at no extra charge. Walking distance to a ton of places to grab a drink or eat something. The neighborhood was lovely with tons of old historical type homes. Will definitely stay again the next time we are in Nashville. Loved it way more than staying downtown. It was only a short uber drive to Broadway.
We loved everything!

The building is beautiful and the neighborhood is extraordinary. We had several exceptional meals and a great night of live music within walking distance and used ride shares for everything else. Took a self-guided walking tour of East Nashville, which features gorgeous architecture and multiple historical sites. Bed was very comfortable, shower was terrific, and the coffee pods in the common room - where we spent an afternoon reading and relaxing - were the best we’ve ever had. Staff was quick to respond to our requests (via text).
Our room (2:5) was on the small side - generous space in bathroom, but lacked places to hang or stow clothing for a couple staying for four nights.

Our stay at The Russell was phenomenal. The property is so unique and in such a perfect spot for walking around and exploring all East Nashville has to offer (and is a very short, easy drive to other parts of the city) The lobby is beautiful and fun and the rooms have so much character as well! Everything was clean and comfortable. I loved all the attention to detail and the free water, snacks and coozies were such a welcoming added bonus! We loved everything about our stay at The Russell and can't wait to stay there again soon!

The building itself was charming and the communication with the staff was great. They were very helpful and accommodating. The Dyson hair dryer was fantastic.
I felt the space could have been utilized better. There was very limited room to hang clothes and no drawers in either the bedroom or bathroom. And while I understand the no housekeeping policy during the stay, I would have liked the floor to at least start out clean instead of gritty. I also found it somewhat odd that the bedside lights could not be individually turned on and off. Another small glitch: the luggage lift was not working on the day we left.

The Russell had lovely, modern, but not overdone aesthetics, in both the room and common areas. It was quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and there were great coffee shops, food options, etc within easy, safe walking distance.
I booked a skylight room not realizing that the skylight actually looks into the common area of the hotel not outside - I now realize this is made clear on the hotel website but not on booking.com. It made the room feel quite cave-like and I didn't love the lack of natural light.

Gorgeous, unique facility.
The neighborhood is just ok, like many hotel neighborhoods. It is louder than your typical hotel but they provide a sound machine and ear plugs and that did the job perfectly. There were high stained glass windows in our room which were pretty during the day but still let quite a bit of light from the hallway in even with the curtains closed. The curtains are a tad too short. I hung my jacket in front of the window.

We decided to stay at The Russell after leaving a nightmare Airbnb stay. What a great choice that was! As soon as we pulled up to The Russell, we were awed by it’s former church structure, and the sorbet-tinged country vibe of its interior design. We also loved that our stay contributed to meals and accommodation to Nashville’s houseless population. In short here is what we loved about The Russell: Aesthetic Location Cleanliness Customer Service Bed We will definitely stay here again!
Loved it!

It was interesting to see how they used the space in this heritage church. Common spaces were great. The ensuite was great, lots of electrical and USB support.
I was shocked when the skylight opened to another room and not directly to the outside. I Couldn't find my preferred news channels on Roku.
