Found this little gem when I had to make a last minute trip to Seattle for a family medical emergency. Was looking for a place that was reasonably priced and that I could walk to the local hospital to avoid the additional expense of a rental car. College Inn Hotel was perfect! It is located in the middle of the U of W Campus and while there is a lot of activity during the day, the area is quiet at night. The hotel itself is in an older building, but they have renovated the rooms and brought them up to current standards. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room had a small desk, drawers and nice hanging rack. Although my room did have its own bathroom, some of the rooms do not and have access to a shared bathroom. Since it is an older building, it is pretty well sound proofed, so never had any issue with noise. The building is secured at the entrance to ensure only current customers can gain access. There is a coffee shop and several restaurants along with a small grocery store just a few doors down. It is easy to walk around the area and there is plenty of foot and car traffic to feel safe if walking at night. A shared kitchen is available to store food and make any meals you want. Local transportation is easy to access as well as a running/walking trail. It is also a great value for the area!
Would have loved to have a coffee maker in the room. While the shared kitchen always had a thermos of coffee available, as an early riser, it was usually was not very fresh.

I really liked the location. It was central to everything we were doing. Within a few blocks of several restaurants. The pub was very good. The server was helpful and had some stories about the resident ghost.
I am not thrilled with only being able to check in via phone and scanning QR codes. For people without smart phones this makes it difficult to use the hotel. Also QR codes are not always secure and it is recommended to not scan if at all possible as they sometimes contain malware. I don't think College Inn would have malware, but it's just not good practice to have this as an only or primary option. It's convenient, but convenience is not always safe or the best. Having options for people who don't want to scan QR codes into their phone or people who simply don't have a smart phone, having other options is better practice.

First off, as a student at UW many moons ago, I always walked by this cute building and was always intrigued by it. Unexpectedly, I received the opportunity to visit UW again and I was elated to stay here. Arriving at the hotel was fairly convenient. The hotel has two 15-minute check-in parking spots and there was ample paid parking on the streets. I would stress to pay IMMEDIATELY and avoid getting the $44 parking ticket. Additionally, there is a parking garage at the UW that is a few minutes walk away which is also convenient for in and out parking. The hotel has flair but is old. Be mindful that you will have to lug up your luggage several flights of stairs to check-in. However, if you want flair, convenience, and comfort then this is a great option. The bathrooms are very clean and only once on my two-day stay was someone else in the bathroom at the same time. My room with the view was beautiful. Overall I really enjoyed the charm.
They do not provide breakfast, however, there is a great breakfast/hang-out area where one can prepare food and eat. Also, there is complimentary coffee, water, and tea. The windows are super thin and it felt like the window was open the whole time. That was odd but I ended up getting used to and it didn't seem to bother me at night. What did bother me, was all the noise that came through the door. As someone flying from Europe, sleeping through the first night is crucial to overcoming jetlag and I didn't appreciate the loudness during the night of either people checking in late or people coming home late from being out.

This is the most economical hotel within walking distance of the UW West campus. It's clean and convenient - about a 10 minute walk to the Link station, right on top of a couple of eateries. It's also surprisingly quiet given its location.
The "European" set-up with the toilet and shower down the hall didn't bother me - but the lights in the hallway are very bright for middle-of-the-night journeys.

Operating since 1909 (and listed on the National Register of Historic Places), this is a quaint, rustic throwback to early 20th century inns. If you're looking for modern with A/C, elevators and all the amenities, this is isn't for you. But if you're looking for a real experience of the U District, this is a great way to get into the swing of things. You're right in the heart of the U District and reliving college life. Lots of great eateries, bars, etc. and you're across the bridge from Seattle and the Space Needle. Do something different, give this place a go. Relive your wild college days while you're at it.
Not much to dislike although walking up and down stairs can be a little inconvenien (especially with suitcases), but you get in your daily exercise!

The Hotel was in an excellent location and was well maintained. I enjoyed the window seat and the private bathroom. The added bonus of the "Loft" on the top floor with a full kitchen and 24 hour coffee was brilliant.
My original room did not have cold water running from the faucet, but when I called the manager about it, the issue was quickly addressed and they changed my room. The service was excellent.

Convenient location, close to restaurants and shops. walking distance to light rail station. room was spacious. Loved the window bench seats!
Room was hot. Its an old building with no air conditioning, which probably isn't an issue most of the time in Seattle. They provided multiple fans, which helped. Noise from the hallway comes through very easily, but guests seemed respectful of it.

We were visiting UW, so the location couldn't have been better. The hotel was nicely renovated, and we loved seeing the historic photos of the building and the area. The room was comfortable, clean, and our private bathroom was just right.
There is no breakfast available at the property, but there are some coffee shops not too far away.

The location was great! quiet but still close to amenities. The room was clean and updated. For the price, the service, comfort, and facilities were very pleasant. The coffee shop and restaurant downstairs were very convenient! We loved the big windows that opened up for fresh air. Very close to the Burke Museum, which was well worth a visit.
The free coffee in the shared lounge upstairs was undrinkable for someone who really enjoys high-quality coffee. There was no elevator given it was a beautiful heritage building but that was known and expected.

The location is perfect for any visit to the University of Washington campus. Though the room was on the small side, it was clean and comfortable. (NB: I booked on of the "private" rooms with a bathroom en suite.)
The bathroom en suite was generally fine overall, but the hot water was inconsistent in the shower. It's also worth noting (though it didn't really bother me) that stays of less than seven days don't get a change of towels (or made beds) without paying an extra fee.
