The hotel was so easy to find right off the main road. I wasn't aware it was a pet friendly hotel when I booked and honestly I would have never known had I not seen their accommodations! It's so clean and smells clean rather than smelling like animals. I was worried once I saw that our room was in a pet friendly section that the room would have a smell in fur in the carpet and it did not! Everything was spectacularly maintained! I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you have pets! They have a fenced in off -leash area for them to play, a dog washing station, and complimentary dog bed in the room!! You can really tell that they love pets even the decor was pet themed!

The playground they have is very minimal. A slide and 2 swings. Not really enough to keep kids entertained.

This was one of the cleanest properties we've stayed at. The staff was super friendly. The location was great! It was a 5 minute drive to everything in downtown Sister Bay and a ten minute walk to nearby Pebble Beach. The amenities included the indoor pool, hot tub and two cozy fire pits! We didn't bring our pets with but they have a separate wing for dogs including a dog wash! The view from our room of the woods was beautiful. I can only imagine the colors in the fall! The front desk had water, wine, pop and snacks available for purchase which was great for late night munchies. We would absolutely stay here again.

Our room had a musty smell that we couldn't get rid of.

High quality mattresses with very good support (appeared new). The window heater, cooler units were also new and temperature control and air flow were excellent. The building and grounds are attractive and nicely managed. Prices are reasonable in comparison with other motels and inns.

Room 2013: The shower curtain rod was not securely applied to the plastic wall surface and collapsed with the weight of one damp bath towel. The toilet would immediately fill and flush (this was discovered after 9 pm when the front desk was no longer occupied), With some adjustments to the lift mechanism, it worked. Could have clearer diagrams on the doors to clearly map the best escape routes

Our room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We did not have a pet with us but I was very impressed by the fact that the motel is pet friendly and even has a dog wash station. We changed our room reservation to include a 3rd adult and the owner, John was very accommodating. I liked that I was able to purchase a bottle of wine after hours on the "honor system". Breakfast included fresh pastries and there were real plates and silverware rather than the typical paper plates and plastic cutlery.

I can't think of a thing that I didn't like.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating after a slight error on my part when booking. The motel and rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast was included and we were pleased with the selection. We were able to bring our pet with us and they had plenty of room outdoors to walk our pet, as well as a fenced in area for the dog to run in. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Too many mosquitos when walking outdoors, but I can’t fault he motel for this. Other than that, I cannot think of anything we were not happy with.

The friendliness of the owners and all staff. The closeness to downtown Sister's Bay. The great outdoor amenities. The pool/hot tub was nice too!

I feel the breakfast couldn't have been better. The shower in our room didn't drain the water as fast so you were standing in dirty water. Also, it was very sticky and humid in the 1st-floor room we were in. Didn't sleep well because of that.

The staff was so friendly, the gentleman at the counter always opened the door when we were going out, he was very pleasant and easy to talk to. When we pulled up there was a campfire in front and out back and a fire in the lobby! It was so cozy and the room was clean comfy and cozy. We had a great view and the morning coffee and breakfast was top tier!

That we only planned for a short stay because we definitely didn't want to leave!

Our experience at the Open Hearth Lodge was exceptional!! My husband and I chose this location to celebrate our 16 Year Wedding Anniversary!! When I initially booked the room, I thought that I chose a room with a Jacuzzi but it was my mistake. I went to the manager and expressed the mistake that I had made. He said no problem. Let's see if we can find you a room that is compatible to what you wanted. And he did he was able to put me in my husband in a larger room that I called the Honeymoon Suite and didn't charge us any extra money. He even offered us a bottle of wine for our joyous occasion!!! We also took advantage of the Hot Tub and Swimming Pool! We really enjoyed our stay! This should be a 5 Star Hotel!!

There was nothing that we did not like. We loved everything!

Great hospitality. The room is spacious, the bed is really comfortable and it had plenty of pillows. The space is very cozy. The location is great, pretty close to all kinds of different tourist spots.

For breakfast, the pancake machine seemed to need lots of close maintenance — it could only do a few before someone had to come and check it out. I wish there were some plant-based milk alternatives and vegan butter as part of the breakfast options.

We loved the location we loved the owners and the staff and everything that was provided.

The entire room the entire stay smelled like mold and mildew and there was a air purifier on the floor running 24/7 but it was either coming from the bathroom maybe in the flooring we couldn't tell where the smell was but it was constant so that's not healthy for anyone to be breathing that in.
