This was our last stop before leaving charming Viet Nam, we booked a grand deluxe king room on a high floor but were pleasantly surprised with upgrade to the presidential suite, where even toilets have a remote control. The hotel location is a walking distance from West Lake but area around hotel is still under development, so we were brave to walk back at night only once. The hotel staff are very helpful and shared with us secrets of the best shopping locations in Hanoi. The hotel offers delicious breakfast with wonderful selection of dishes, able to satisfy most of the travelers.

The presidential suit is one floor below lounge, which is a bit of mistake in design, in my humble opinion. At night people singing and dancing, from the early morning cleaning staff moving the furniture and vacuum cleaning – no rest for the wicked. We are actually asked for a quiet room at the time of the booking! Other minor comment is that water in the shower is very weak and half of the nozzles are blocked. The hotel staff proudly puts cards with the their names after the cleaning but I think there is a room for improvement there.

Beautiful room, superb bathroom facilities . My husband enjoyed a long soak in the bath and fell asleep! We Had a wonderful nights sleep with no outside noise Wonderful roof top bar with amazing views . All staff very polite and attentive. Highly recommend once you’ve worked out the automated system .

Hotel info was via qr code on back of hotel card key ( we spent ages searching for information book!) We found the lighting system a bit tricky and missed out on room cleaning / fresh water etc as we didn’t realise we’d opted for ‘do not disturb’! ( probably whilst pressing every button trying to get the right light on)

We stayed twice at the Grand Mercure Hanoi during our first trip to Vietnam, and both stays were excellent. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. A special mention must go to the concierge team, and especially Kien, who was absolutely outstanding. He helped us organise several taxi reservations — even on days when we weren’t staying at the hotel — which genuinely saved our trip. His professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to assist made a lasting impression. Our room was clean, spacious, and very well maintained, and the breakfast buffet was excellent too, with plenty of variety. We also visited the spa twice during our stay, and both experiences were exceptional — tranquil, well-run, and a perfect way to unwind. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi.

We stayed in five hotels in five cities in Vietnam, and this was our second favourite. Although star systems don't necessarily align between countries, this is by international standards a five star hotel in terms of facilities and decor. The rooms are stunning and were our favourite of the trip. Breakfast was good.

All the staff were friendly, but there was a lack of polish - amongst our group over two non-adjacent nights a few incorrect bills, random size of holding deposits (>100 dollars difference for same room), a few staff distracted on their phones, late checkout not communicated between staff, turn down inconsistent. None of this is was a big deal and bill issues sorted out without quibble, but this made the difference between our #1 and #2 hotels.

Beautiful interior! The room was very well equipped, the rooftop pool was great and the gym also had everything you can expect to need! I even received great tips on exercises from Quality, the trainer at the gym. The reception staff goes out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was decent, the staff even remembered what tea I liked with my breakfast! 😍 The team also helped me to make reservations at restaurants and for transport for the rest of my trip.

The Grand Mercure is, in my opinion, one of the best hotels in Hanoi. My stay was really luxurious and you get that little extra comfort and professionalism that you pay for. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I even got an early check-in and a beautiful room on the 14th floor with a breathtaking view over Hanoi. What more could you ask for. The quality of the breakfast was also extremely good with a wide variety. If you are looking for a luxurious place to relax after a busy day in Hanoi, this is definitely the place to be.

The room was exactly as shown in the pictures—comfortable and well-kept. The staff were fantastic, especially Stephanie, who went above and beyond by recommending local dishes that turned out to be amazing. The rooftop pool and bar were highlights, with great service and a beautiful setting. The hotel is great value for money, with local eateries right next door and plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within a 5-minute walk. Overall, a wonderful stay.

The staffs were very kind and patient. We arrived at 6am, and informed that staff that we wish to check in. However, knowing that the check in time is 2pm, we did not hold much hope. They then got back to me and informed that they can provide me with a free upgrade to a suite and I could check in at 10am. We are very pleased with the arrangement and even though there are some misunderstanding about the payment amount (doesn’t tally with booking.com and their system), they were very patient with me and explained clearly. The room was exceptional and we decided to stay in to enjoy the facilities. Rather than stepping out as it was raining! Thank you Grand Mercure!

Found some stains on a towel and felt that the pillow was a bit too soft (but that’s based on my personal preference).

I loved my room. The bathroom and bath with the window AND the overall look of the room were just perfect. I also appreciated everything being so modern with all the switches. The breakfast was great and the staff was friendly. I also had a treatment in the spa and although the price is higher than your average spa in Hanoi, it was worth it.

The swimming pool looks nice but not everyone appreciates others being able to see them under water. I would also say that the skybar doesn't stand out. Unlike the rooms it think the vibe is not unique.

We loved our stay in this hotel and still talk about it. It was our first hotel in Vietnam. Room was great - spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast downstairs with lots of options and good setting with windows where you can watch the wonderful madness of Hanoi. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return one day.

Not a criticism but it’s not as centrally located as some other hotels (we briefly stayed in another luxury hotel that was right in the middle of the Old Quarter). We liked the location of this hotel but it does require a walk or taxi to the Old Quarter etc.
