My family and I recently stayed here with another family and made it as a base to go to Thredbo and Perisher as staying any more closer to that area was a bit pricey. We had an excellent time in this accomo in Cooma. It was super spacious for a family of 8, with 2 rooms and 4 person in each. There was so much space to put our belongings and we had a lovely dinner heating up our meals. It was also very cozy and the heater was working very well. The owner was so kind and helpful and he even gave us advice and came out to chat to all of us. We all really enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

The room was very spacious, the bathroom was excellent; hot water and immaculately clean. The heating was also efficient; older style water heater which was a relief because there was an electric one on the wall to use but they tend to get a bit stuffy so I was happy with the older style one which really made the stay more comfortable by warming the experience.

I thought there was a communal kitchen somewhere but I m not sure if there was I didnt see it. Even though I didnt feel like cooking there plenty of lovely places to eat in the town and within walking distance of the motel.

Using Booking.com was easy and found the communication to the Bunkhouse very good. The reception person was very friendly and helpful and had turned the heater for the room on before I arrived. This is an old building but incredibly comfortable. Japanese size hotel room with everything you need. The private bathroom was a fresh refit and a delight to use. The location was also a bonus since it is near the middle of town. Love the bunkhouse.

Amazingly well preserved 1959 Snowy Mountains Scheme workingmen's boardinghouse. Lovely to see period tiles, windows etc have been retained. Comfy beds, and the usual tea/coffee/buiscuits/toaster. Friendly staff and handy location with a good pub for meals only two buildings away. Off the mainstreet, so quiet. Nice to hear local church clock chiming the hours and halfhours at night (but 1 hour behind due to daylight saving)

Staff spoke Chinese and little English, but could phone through to a translator. Our room faced the street, and a streetlamp, with only a rice-paper Chinese blind, which failed to darken the room at night. Windows difficult to open to get fresh air. No room number 13 for some reason...

As the Bunkhouse dates from the 1950s, its ambience matches its name. It has an honest rustic feel reminiscent of the time when Cooma was the headquarters of the bustling Snowy Mountains Scheme. And when going to the Snowy for a skiing holiday wasn't just the preserve of the well healed. I was given a very friendly welcome from Daniel in reception. My room had all the creature comforts required while still with the old school vibe. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom nicely renovated. The Bunkhouse would perfectly suit anyone on a budget looking for cheap and cheerful accommodation. Not for those looking for a romantic getaway, or a Grand Designs experience, but it doesn't pretend to be. Also, it's very close to town and its many eateries and watering holes. And being far enough away from the main road, it's very quiet at night. The old school heater with plumbed in hot water looks like it would keep you warm on a freezing winter's night. The addition of a toaster as well as microwave and electric kettle is another bonus.

Nothing really. The fridge was in a wardrobe and appeared unconnected, but as I didn't need it, no problem.

Daniel, the propietor, was just so kind, friendly and helpful. Room very clean and comfortable. Walk to shops just around corner. Toaster, microwave, fridge, kettle and tea/coffee supplies ! :) :) Toiletries too. Reverse cycle Aircon very much appreciated. Good-sized TV. Ensuite - so necessary for elderly travellers. Would definitely stay here again, as have to travel to and from Cooma or Canberra from Far South Coast for appts now and then. Reasonable tarriff

The rooms weren't the most luxurious but they were very practical and very adequate. We would rather stay in a place like this then spend unnecessary money on luxury accommodation. The bed was comfortable. A very friendly desk person there upgraded our accommodation. My wife and I would want to stay there again. The rooms very heated throughout day and night at a very sensible temperature. Bathroom was newly refurbished.

We liked it all.

Easy check in. Key was ready and the room had the wifi-pw and milk ready too - nice when you don't have to ask.. Quiet a/c and plenty of hot water in the shower which was exceptionally clean! I don't recall many showers without the slightest trace of mould. Quiet night with room facing away from the main highway. Easy check out, just leave the key.

Location is really easy. Clean room. Car parking available. Heaters, hot water and stuff works perfectly fine. Got a free upgrade from the manager/owner. Couldn't get the name of the person who showed us around. He was really helpful and friendly. Clean bathroom and roilet. Like the place. Photos bit messy as i took them after I settled down.

Great location and place to stay when going for a snow trip without hurting your budget. The staff is also very accommodating.

Bed is springy/bouncy/soft (personal preference) and rooms aren’t that soundproof (can hear people from hallway)
