Lovely gardens. Good parking. Comfy rooms. Everything we needed. Easy to find location.

There needs to have a 24Hr contract number. There were no instructions on how to use the heater. The power switch is near the bed (looks like a light switch), however the heater is on a different wall. Tried to ring the contact number & message on line, however didn’t get any response til later the next day (we had left as we only booked 1 night).

It must have been quiet season as there were usually at least four parking spots even when I returned to the hotel late (from work). If you are staying here for at least seven nights, it is probably better to be placed on the upper level or in the 'Superior Twin Rooms' in the corners. Personally, I think that the admin staff should distance the one-nighters from the 'long sojourn' guests. The electric blanket was useful.

Inadequate linen for the bed. I always have to supplement the bedlinen with my own. For winter, bring a duvet and an electric throw. I had to seek out the cleaners in order to dispose of rubbish, etc.

Fantastic location - next to EastLink entry ramp to Melbourne, or in reverse to Ringwood, Lilydale, Yarra Ranges winery area. In my case, travelling to a Reception/Funeral venue in Warrandyte was a 16minute easy commute. The venue has nearby take away or eat in options, but not walking distance. There are public transport bus shelters out front of Elizabethan Lodge on both sides of Middleborough Road. A bus hops on the EastLink ramp into Melbourne's Flinders Street, and Central. Last stop is a short walk to Southern Cross Train Station for V-Line country and Interstate train travellers.

No issues

Easy check-in and good parking onsite. First floor room was big and clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. Lots of pillows and bedding provided. Air conditioner worked well. Sound-proofing was quite good considering the age of the motel. Tea and coffee supplies were always kept in order and room cleaning was well organised and thorough.

Furniture and decor was a bit dated and the bathroom, although large, could have done with some updating. The main door lock was secure enough but the simple twist-to-lock mechanism wasn't very reassuring and there wasn't a chain or secondary lock on the door. The air conditioner control wasn't a remote and wasn't easy to figure out properly.

The room seemed like it was recently updated - very clean and well appointed. Two queen beds was great rather than a queen and a single. Gardens were lovely. Location close to the Freeway and Doncaster Westfield was perfect for us. Nice to have a walking path nearby. Late check-in was accomodated.

There was a wedding on at the time we stayed, and it was a bit noisy at times as wedding guests (alcohol affected) came outside and talked/yelled quite loudly at around 10/11pm. Luckily it didn't go on for too long though. Wedding guests limited being able to park near the room, but adequate parking was available at the rear of the property.

Location is perfect as has easy access to shopping centres less traffic so is quieter. Pricing is incredible value compared to surrounding properties and Melbourne accommodation was very clean. Although the room we ended up and was quite outdated and had a musty smell but the room bedding and bathroom were clean to an exceptional standard check was simple and staff were courteous. Good amount of beds for families compared to other properties in the area.

I liked that is was comfortable and homey. I liked how spacious it was and the facilities were modern and clean and in good repair. I also liked how easy it was to access as I was coming late.

I think the lock didn't feel super secure although not a huge problem and my side table lamp globe was blown. But everything else was in great working order. I think perhaps the globe was just something that hadn't been picked up not a huge issue.

Elizabethan Lodge was a wonderful surprise find on Bookings.com for my accommodation on this visit to Melbourne. Fantastic location - easy to get to. Train from Southern Cross station to Box Hill, then a bus that stops just across the road from Elizabethan Lodge on Middleborough Road. Even better, an express bus hops on the Eastern Freeway to Melbourne. Stay on bus until the last stop. A short walk straight up to DFO (good for a few hours Christmas shopping) before I boarded my V-Line train from Southern Cross Station to Wangaratta. The garden at Elizabethan Lodge is just gorgeous. So peaceful & serene to sit under the trees & listen to the trickle of the waterfall, upon returning from a busy day out. Highly recommend this lovely, clean accommodation!

Bathroom could do with a better clean, have stayed twice & the bathroom is always still a bit dirty… both side of entrance door & inside vanity draws need to be checked & wiped as there was sooo much hair in there!!! also glass shower screens need more scrubbing/ elbow grease along the bottom (try magic wall eraser on shower scum 👌chemical & eraser) works a treat!!!
