Excellent location, wonderful view, nice idea with the books, very quiet and clean. A "dream" place to have a rest.

Breakfast was a major disappointment. There was breakfast included in the room rate but it was only very basic - no fruit, no vegetables, jogurt, musli or good quality cheese. Only one egg - no choice on how you wanted it cooked. It easily took 15 or 20 minutes to arrive. There was an option of a better breakfast for 19 euro per person which also included scrambled eggs, vegetables, some fruit, jogurt with musli and smoothie (this is the breakfast you see in the photos). I must admit that this misleading concept spoiled my overall impression. And I know many of the other guests felt the same. What a shame.

This is the most beautiful and amazing hotel I’ve ever stayed this time with my trip to Europe (Prague, Munich and Austria). “Suite with Balcony” room which has an amazing view you can see from your bed (yes! From the moment you wake up!). Breakfast is soooo good (heaps of choices and they all taste good) and dinner provided is nice as well. You’ll never feel starving because the food provided are good in quality and quantity. The reading spaces are fab! Originally was thinking about going to visit Hallstatt but then everything at the hotel is more attractive to me. This is a place I’ll recommend for all of my friend.

We had a view from our room to die for - it was outstanding. Loved the books everywhere although most were in German which is fine of course but loved how there were books all throughout the accommodation.

Breakfast was basic but perfectly decent. Perhaps the hotel is a little bit on the expensive side compared to the range of amenities on offer but otherwise really can’t fault it.

A fantastic view that will completely disarm you. Absolute peace and quiet, a great place to relax. Thanks to the high altitude, you can avoid air conditioning in hot weather. It's just colder up here.

Insufficient information about the actual cost of food. When choosing accommodation, the hotel withholds information that may play a role in your choice of accommodation. The management does not see it that way, but in fact it is unfair competition.

A very unique experience. The hotel is located about 20 minutes drive from Bad Ischl, high up in the mountains. The roads are very good and safe to drive on. Upon arrival the manager of the hotel welcomed us and showed us around. Guests are recommended to remove their shoes and walk either bare foot or wear indoor shoes. The hotel specialises in providing a calm and peaceful environment for relaxing and reading. The communal areas are designed and decorated to take full advantage of the amazing view of nature around the hotel. Huge floor to ceiling windows and balconies let in tons of natural light. We were told there are over 1200 books on site (scattered around the communal space but also in the rooms) and guests are encouraged to explore different writers/genres. There is a large open plan kitchen, coffee/tea making facilities, wine fridges all of which are available for guests in a self-service manner. Items consumed can be added to the room bill and paid at checkout or paid by card on the spot. The room was extremely clean and very tastefully decorated. The bed was huge and comfortable. Lots of books all over the surfaces and our windows were overlooking the forest behind the hotel. The hotel is pet friendly and there were guests with dogs staying which was nice.

While we found the concept of guests having access to thousands of books (pretty much like staying in a fusion bookstore/hotel) and beautiful facilities to read, we could not find a single book in English. All books are in German and the explanation we were given is that the hotel is trying to promote Austrian culture and local writers which is a great sentiment but when majority of the guests were foreigners, judging by the cars in the parking, not offering English literature just feels like a missed opportunity. We would have preferred to have a kettle for tea/coffee making in the room and there were no cups either to drink water. Our digital room key didn't work at night but this was resolved promptly by the very helpful housekeeper lady who lives on site.

Facilities are top quality, the idea with the books is great, the availability of beverages at all times, and the trust-concept, the place is really a retreat where you can relax.

I realised on day 2 that rooms are not services, i.e. beds not made, dirty towels not replaced - that's a minus in my opinion.

This is a special hotel. It has views to die for, a load back and nordic style interior design, lots of books. A place for the mind and the soul, with a great wine fridge. This place had better views than Wengen in Switzerland.

I had to leave. I didn't get time to talk to the owner longer and I never managed to take any of the walks around the mountain. I fell asleep before I could see the night sky properly.

Location of the hotel is really nice. Beautiful view of the mountains, quiet surroundings and modern design of the hotel means a perfect conditions for relaxation. - The breakfast was also very good. - There are many places at the hotel for reading books or just resting. - Next to the hotel are possibilities where you can go hiking. - The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful.

There was nothing to spoil our vacation.

We had a reading and hiking weekend, which was the perfect combination. I can recommend the hotel to everyone who adores books. The silent and alpine environment was just perfect to relax.
