The rooms are spacious, lots of light, beds were comfy, shower was good, and the views from the room were amazing! I loved the sauna, and the dry room for my ski gear was perfect. Katharine/Marcus communicated very well and made me feel very welcome. Overall, it was a great stay and I would visit again!

For me, the breakfast could've been improved. I don't eat meat, and when I came down for breakfast, the bacon was mixed in with the scrambled eggs, so I couldn't eat the eggs and had to stick to yoghurt/cereal/boiled eggs. Katharina explained that they are cooked separately, but the guests mix them. This is not acceptable and they should be kept separate for guests who don't eat meat/like meat. There could also be more hot food choices, like tomatoes, beans, potatoes ect.

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location, managed by lovely staff who were always on hand and happy to accommodate. Breakfast in the morning was never too busy and had always well ran in a quaint dining area. Great selection of well priced restaurants nearby for evening meals, providing a range of local and international options.

Wonderful hosts - Katharina had great suggestions for walks. Nice, quiet location with just the roar of the river at night, yet very near the rail / bus station and restaurants. Spacious room, balcony to sit outside in the evening, and a good shower. Fantastic sauna and natural pool, which were a real highlight after a shorter walk one day. And great gluten- and lactose-free options at breakfast, thank you!

A kettle for making tea in the room would be lovely! (But we had brought our own mini-travel kettle)

Superb hotel just on the edge of town. Nice & quiet but easily walkable to the centre. Huge room with balcony. Really modern bathroom. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection & plenty of coffee. Loads of parking on site. The whole place was traditional/modern & very clean & the staff really friendly. Deffo recommend.

Such friendly staff and comfortable accommodation. My husband and I felt very cared for at Garni Birkenhof, comfortable beds, nice pillows ( always important) and a wonderful breakfast each morning, easy walk to town and helpful suggestions on what to do locally ( hikes) while we stayed.

We liked everything

Very nice and cozy place. Personnel were super friendly and kind! And there was no issue even we had very late arriving to hotel. Sauna was super! It's not self-evident that you get good sauna experience outside Finland. Location was nice. Short distance to town center and easy go by car or bus to ski resorts.

Some small bar or vending machine would be nice in hotel.

Breakfast Excellent, Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Fantastic Location. Clean Room, Wifi good as needed for English programs.

Great hosts, good location, bus stop to get to the ski lift is in front of the house, clean. Would definitely recommend!

Super location near the centre. Electric vehicle charger at the property. Free parking. Easy access. Very nice owners/staff who give good advice as what to visit. Clean. Good breakfast. Nice playground for children.

For those who have trouble with stairs: there’s no lift.

Outstanding location Close to the train station and therefore the local ski bus 15 minute walk from town Good sized room for 3 people. Clean and very tidy Breakfast was good Staff were very helpful when we checked in

It is maybe on the more expensive side as it’s not in the centre of town. If you do not mind a walk into town for dinner, or to the train station for the ski bus it’s fine. If you have a family or struggle with walking, it could be an issue
