Our room was a good size and had a balcony from which we enjoyed views of spectacular mountain scenery. We arrived at the local station and when I phoned the hotel to let them know we were at the station, a member of the family came to pick us up. This same person also dropped us back at the station when we left. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant, and most evenings we were eating out in the garden. There was also a superb selection of freshl food for the continenntal breakfast. The hotel is ideally located for visiting the historic Schloss Hohenwerfen, the location of the film "Where Eagles Dare"

The restaurant for dinner isn't open every night. We didn't purchase the breakfast, so I can't rate it. It begins at 7:30 am and we had a train at 8am. It is literally a 5 min walk (although on the bike lane of the highway) to the castle. Which was a perfect afternoon activity. We didn't tour the interior rooms, but paid to take the "lift" which is an incline car to the castle. There is also a wooded trail. Highly recommend the castle and have a beer or Radler and pretzel in the courtyard. We did the ice caves in the early(ish) morning upon arrival from Salzburg. Then made our way to castle at 330pm. The hotel is no frills, but super clean, bed awesome (but maybe because we were dog-tired), and location good. St the hotel there is only a drink machine with water and some coke products - takes coins only. If you need something after or before market closes.

The shower in our room was TINY. Like, can't bend to wash my feet tiny. Like, I wasn't sure i was going to fit in the small opening- tiny. But alas, I did. And I could have used a fan or some moving air... the window opened, but then we had a few little bugs pestering us. We had a room on the top floor, so m maybe lower is good? But it cooled off through the night. As a northerner, anything above 70F is warm to me. These thing would NOT prevent me from booking this place. It's lovely.

The room was clean and spacious with a beautiful side view of the mountains. The location was also great as the train station, riverbank, the Sound of Music trail, Hohenwerfen Castle, and the bus stop for the Ice Cave bus are all easily accessible/walkable within a 1 km walkable distance. The staff at the reception and at the restaurant were very kind and accommodating. The hairdryer in the room stopped working and the receptionist gave us an alternate hairdryer. The restaurant staff was also kind enough to give us a large glass full of ice free of charge to take to our room for drinks/water. Overall, we had an amazing experience staying at Werfenerhof!

Breakfast is a bit too expensive. Also would've appreciated an electric kettle for making tea or coffee in the room.

The location was good - short distance from Werfen Castle and good location to ice caves. Room had enough space for family - facilities were clean. The staff were extremely helpful- somehow the information translated from Booking.com that we were travelling with 2 x 2yr olds - so they had gone to the effort of putting up a cot bed for us instead of risking a child in top bunk of bunk beds - So there were a few giggles when the 16 and 14 yr old arrived - they dealt with the room amendment flawlessly. We were able to leave our luggage and investigate while they sorted the room. We made them aware of allergies before arriving - and provided a separate basket of gluten free breads - and lactose free milk (although this wasn’t actually what my son could eat, we didn’t make a fuss and worked around it as we could see they were doing their best)

There was no air con so room was a bit stuffy with 4 of us. Unfortunately we had to find alternative arrangements for dinner and drinks in the evening- as the chef was on holiday the days we were there - this was a shame as we did have tired legs and we keen not to go far after a busy day. A little expensive for what is provided BUT appreciate demand is high in the area.

Breakfast Buffet was okay, but for the €15 I would have thought that scrambled eggs or something similar would have been included. The gal at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Also good, for those who are travelling with Elektro-Wagen, there are two charging stations right across from the hotel!

The room was clean, but the furniture, while in good condition, seemed "tired".

Hotel location is quite central for Werfen. Very nice panoramic views around. If you about to visit Eisriesenwelt this hotel is perfect to stay. Local restaurant serves good dinner until 22:00. The room is quite standard and small. Nothing special, but it is OK for 1 night stay.

Beds were too hard for us. Breakfast choice was a bit poor.

I prefer this kind of old style hotels that have reception and can reply to your request. Although the facilities are a bit "old school", the room is spacious and comfort and very nice for family travel with kid where multiple beds and large room are very practical.

Excellent location for many activities (hiking, Hohenwerfen castle, ice cave, Salzburg, Hallein - Celtic museum, salt mine - , Grossglockner alpine road, Liechtensteinklamm...) The breakfast is very varied and for many tastes

Excellent location for Eisriesenwelt. Restaurant on site with outdoor seating. Excellent service from our charming waitress. Our ground floor room had access to an internal courtyard ... with a WiFi signal.

WiFi only available in public areas (as advertised). Arriving Sunday, breakfast didn't start until 8.30, too late for our pre-booked visit to the ice cave.

Comfortable lodging close to Eisriesenwelt. I think it deserves more then 7.6. We had a spacious family room, not brand new but clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly, and they let us have diner in the restaurant although we arrived late. The food was good and the restaurant terrace has a great view over the mountains.
