The social people, the view, the breakfast, the terrace and balcony. everyone really friendly!

ants in the bed but sorted immediately, i think people live there so there is stuff hanging around the bathroom (products, underpants, tissues etc). some taxis dont come up as its a favela ( a safe one ). 5 min uphill walk if not which is fine. The bed space is a tiny cuppy hole and the cupboard is under the bed on the floor so its difficult to get into your suitcase and even to have the space to get changed. In my room there is one toilet for 12 beds.

This was one of the best if not the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The room I stayed in was large and spacious, with a balcony for drying clothes. The staff and volunteers were nice and friendly. The breakfast served was really good as well with fresh fruits and homemade spreads , breads and cakes. Met so many wonderful people here, was a great place to choose for my first time in Rio ! Location wise, it is up a hill but it’s honestly not that bad,you can pay the moto taxis to take you up for R$5 if you really don’t want to walk it. It’s so close to the beach and there’s a lot of thinks happening within the area that it’s located so I ended up spending a lot of time there. Also loved that it had a working space, so I was able to do a bit of work while I was there

It feels like a resort! So beautiful, lots of great spaces, the breakfast was outstanding, the staff were delightful, the beds were private and comfortable, it’s very secure and the surroundings are safe… it was like a perfect hostel! I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

It’s not cheap - but you get what you pay for, the hostel is worth it, it’s excellent! The only other thing was that occasionally uber drivers would refuse to bring up the hill to the hostel. They seemed to be under the impression that it was dangerous (it’s not - some hillside areas in Rio might be, but this one definitely isn’t) or that the hill would place stress on their car/motorbike. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it came up a few times on my trip.

The hostel is really dynamic, offers lots of activities for turists, such as a free sea turtle watch, free samba classes and there is a cool rooftop bar where you can try brazilian drinks (I highly recommend it!!). The breakfast is a tiny buffet: scrambled eggs, cereals, yoghurt, ham and cheese, fruits and vegetables, everything fresh and delicios! You don’t have to worry about your stuff, there is a locker for each person under the beds where you can store your luggage and close it safely for the entire duration of your stay. Every room has a nice hammock on the balcony, I really enjoyed chilling there. The AC is working all day long, the temperature is perfect inside the room even though we were 8 people in the mixed dorm. The bathroom is cleaned daily, you get a hair dryer, you can rent towels.

The only thing I missed but it is just a personal preference is a microwave.

This was a great place to stay as a solo traveler. I’m very extroverted and was able to socialize with people easily. One of the best parts about this place was that there was a WhatsApp group chat where everyone could communicate with ease if you wanted to do something. In addition, the property has a beautiful view of the beach and the breakfast was great. The volunteers were very kind and helpful! I would highly recommend staying here!

Just a recommendation: I believe it would be better if the smoking area is upstairs only instead of downstairs near the lobby. The window/partition that separates the downstairs smoking area did not keep the smoke smell out of the lobby.

This is a great hostel! Breakfast included (basic continental), lots of areas to chill, rooftop with a bar with cocktails and beers, gym, WiFi and co-working space Quick walk to Leme beach, super social, was great for carnival! About 20 mins moto to Ipanema and Leblon and you can walk to Copacabana

The location was fine for me and I felt safe but if you are not able to walk up steep hills, the Ubers will take you up if you insist but moto taxis can’t come up. Just be aware of it. Again not a huge point but the beds are small (narrower than a single bed, felt a bit like being in a boat cabin). Lastly, the volunteers are lovely but they are lacking knowledge of backpacking Brazil which was a little disappointing as they couldn’t answer the questions I had

I arrived early in the morning. The staff allowed me to leave my bags in Reception. I joined the WhatsApp group for the hostel & I managed to get on a tour for 9am! I booked all my tours via that WhatsApp group (managed by Ana who's quick at responding & is so nice!). It's so much cheaper to book tours on here than online. I went on 4 tours & each tour guide were professional & spoke both Portuguese & English (Spanish in one of the tours) & were very knowledgeable. The hostel it self, is brilliant. Believe the reviews. It is a tad up hill, either take your time walking up or use the motorbike service (R$5 /£0.71). I was nervous initially, but honestly, they're really professional & safe. So safe, that I used the service to get to Maracena so I didn't miss the football game! The hostel is brilliant. It's in a safe location. The surrounding neighbours don't make you feel uncomfortable. I booked a private room. Bed was soft, room was spacious, shower is brilliant (wait 5 mins for the hot water to turn on) & I had a good view from the balcony. Staff here really are lovely. They go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. An example, is where I tried to check in to a domestic flight but it was in Portuguese. Tomas helped me complete the details. If there's a message on WhatsApp about Tapioca - do not miss this! I think it was Adriel that made this on the rooftop bar. Also through WhatsApp, they arrange events in the evening. This is the longest review I've ever written. I loved Rio & the hostel more than I thought I would.

Great stay for 1 week and my first time in Rio as a solo female traveller. loved the vibe at the hostel! Despite being in a mixed dorm, it was still quite and all the guests were very respectful. Breakfast every morning was a treat! The Staff were very helpful and always willing to answer my many questions. Despite being in/near a favela, i found it to be quite safe to walk up/down the steep hill to and from the hostel. It was a great glute workout! There was no crazy partying in the hostel which I liked, and everyone who was a guest, regardless of age, all seemed to be very cool people who were stable or in between jobs. I have never experienced something like this in other hostels that I've stayed at.

Aquarela do Leme is the kind of hostel that is clearly designed and taken care of in detail. The beds are perfectly designed to give you privacy, comfort and storage space. The toilets and the kitchen have everything you need, which is rare. The breakfast is incredible, I was looking forward to it every morning. The facilities and terrace are fantastic. The staff are great, very friendly and always happy to help and offer activities. Everyone is super friendly and there is a nice vibe among the guests. I have been travelling for over a year and this is easily one of the best hostels I have stayed in. 10/10

Everything is great

Clean rooms and bathrooms, great bar, reception area and rooftop bar. There’s a cowering space and also a rooftop gym. The staff are attentive and the free breakfast is adequate and also a great way to meet people. They have lots of activities and information of activities, the view is great, you can see the sea. The favela can be noisy and the owners also have young children.

It’s up a hill So be prepared to walk - taxis won’t pick you up but they will drop you off. They don’t serve any food besides breakfast
