Staff are amazingly helpful and friendly, kitchen facilities are the best I’ve seen in a hostel so far and kept pretty clean! Easy to walk to the train or downtown in general.

Mixed room ended up being entirely male (plus me) for the entire time, I guess I should have expected that but it would have been nice to have privacy curtains or something. We had a fan that worked for a little while but someone kept turning it off in the night so it was just too hot when you were trying to sleep! Not ideal.

This hostel literally made my trip! The staff is really kind, friendly and ready to help you with any needs. And although I may have gotten lucky, people in my room where awesome. Everything is very clean and works as expected.

Well, it's downtown, so although it is a very nice location to help you move around the city, there are still lots of drug addicts near the area. I felt very safe but still it's kind of a weird view if you are not used to it.

I booked two nights but needed to move to another room even though there was nobody in my room. I did not understand why i needed to move. Shower room was not easy to use. There is nowhere to put my clothes. Room was noizy and not be able to sleep well which can not be expected because it's "hostel". If the price would be cheaper, going to be satisfied more.

The location is great. In the heart of downtown and 3 minutes walk to the huge supermarket which works until 10pm. Very clean and well designed beds. No insects. Clean room and bedding liners. Breakfast has juice, tea, coffee, milk, cereal, ham, eggs, waffles, and a lot of toppings. They have a quiet room. Straight bus from anf to the airport for 2£ (roughly 40 minutes) and then less than 10 minutes walk to the hostel. Also, save to walk as a solo female in my early 20s. The area around was quit but with enough people. The bathroom was also clean. Also, there is enough storage space for everyone. You have your own box(bring the lock, I bought mine for 6 cad on the reception) to store you stuff, enough hooks, and under the bed space in free for shoes or backpacks. Also was the cheapest option in Calgary, and I liked it

Late breakfast. Starts at 8am. And a lot of excursions to Rockies do a pick up way earlier than 8🥲 Not enough charges. The one place where you can charge is locates near the window and there were 6 beds in my room. We were able to charge because we have our own adapters

It’s a great value place to stay, really convenient location just in the middle of the city. If you are considering going to a Banff tour trip they have pick up locations with 10 mins walking. Overall great experience, I stayed there in April and coming back June, that can pretty much sup up my experience with this place.

No huge concerns overall, but shower area was not always the cleanest, which I understand is hard to keep up with so many people staying there. I also find it interesting that you need to leave your ID card on the reception in order to get a blow dried, not sure if this is a common experience for such item to be stolen.

The staff were so kind and helpful! I didn't realise when booking the hostel had a laundry room so this was a pleasant surprise to wash my airport and running clothes! Easy keycard access and someone at the front desk all the time. I also left my running shoes behind and the staff were great in retrieving them from the room and putting them aside for me to collect at a later day. The value for money is amazing if you want to be close to downtown. Good Earth is just across the road and do amazing coffee, I also walked to Rosso Coffee Roasters on 17th avenue for a great coffee and vegan chocolate chip cookie! The lockers are such a good size, I managed to fit my roller carry on suitcase, backpack and shoes inside.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that the bedding and all the common places were kept clean. Also the location is very central.

It would be a plus If each bed had a charger for the phone in reach. This is something that I have seen when I stayed at other HI hostels in Alberta. Although the location is very convinient, there were a lot of homeless in the vicinity of the hostel, which made a solo traveler like me fell a bit uncomfortable.

HI Calgary City Centre Hostel exceeded my expectations in every way! From the moment I arrived, the friendly and helpful front desk staff made me feel at home. The hostel itself is well-maintained and provides a comfortable and quiet stay. The reading room is an excellent spot to unwind, offering a peaceful atmosphere that I appreciated after a day of sightseeing. Cleanliness is clearly a priority here, as the toilets and common areas were spotless. The addition of pool tables was a fun touch and a great way to socialize with fellow travelers. Breakfast was another highlight – hearty and delicious, perfect for fueling up for the day. Plus, having tea and coffee available 24/7 was a thoughtful perk. Overall, HI Calgary City Centre Hostel is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a comfortable, clean, and friendly place to stay in Calgary. Highly recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Freezing weather

This is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. I have been to other hostels, but their hygiene was only average. However, the hygiene here—whether in the rooms, kitchen, or bathrooms—was exceptional and consistently clean whenever I used them. Moreover, I really appreciate their efforts in collecting used clothes for donation. It’s such a thoughtful initiative! There is a supermarket close to the hostel, just about a 5-minute walk away. The common area is cozy.

The hostel provided excellent services. Some people might be concerned about street sleepers staying near the area. However, you can choose to take an alternate route and keep a distance from them. At night, the nearby streets are quiet with very few people around. Despite this, I still felt safe. Occasionally, you may hear traffic noise from outside the hostel. However, I was not bothered by the sound and still slept well.

Superb location! It's at the very heart of Calgary, so it means it's super close to walk to major spots or to get the transit/an uber to whatever destination you'd like to visit. The staff is friendly and very helpful and the whole place was always very cleand and well maintained.

The bunk beds are VERY noisy. I'm not a light sleeper, but I woke up multiple times every single night by the sound of someone in the room moving around on their beds. I avoided moving much myself to not annoy others, but whenever I did I could hear the wood making very loud sounds. If you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest booking a private room.
