I grew up at Painters Lodge, I worked there, my dad was a fishing guide there for 35 years, I've known this resort since the Painter family owned it,. It is an incredibly special place and I'm looking forward to seeing it grow under new ownership. It was bittersweet to see it in a transitional phase. A heads up about the pool and hot tub beint out of commission would have been nice, and the pubs and restaurants being closed, but we made the best of it.
Please buy April Point Lodge too, I know it needs a lot of work and is set at 9 million, but I'm sure the Peterson's would work with any buyer and make it work. Getting on the water taxi from PPainters over to Quadra is such a cool experience and when the two resorts work together as one unit like it did under Oak Bay Marine Group its truly amazing!

Location, room size, large comfy beds, restaurant bar on site. View of the strait..whale watching from balcony.
Staff communication was poor. Electric fuse tripped and no one able to access fuseboard in evening until maintenance man came in morning. No electric all evening & night. Staff failed to communicate problem and had to repeatedly chase them up both on internal phone and finally had to get up in rain and physically find maintenance man myself to simply flick a fuse.

The view from our room was great, nice view of the snow covered mountains and the saltwater. I had a delicious butter chicken with naan, but the waitress said, "I almost forgot your butter chicken after she brought my naan. Painters Lodge is a very nice place to stay. Get all the we2ed pulled outside and get it cleaned up, just a suggestion and get the grounds to looking much better. Summer is coming up and I'll be there will some weddings there, beautiful spot for weddings.
The bed in our room was uncomfortable, I could grab the springs on the side of the bed. I would suggest taking a poll of everyone when the check out. How was bed, was it comfortable? Did you sleep well last night? If you get 50 people who check out and they had uncomfortable beds they slept on, replace all the beds at Painter's Lodge.

I like the history in the place and the unique three level well appointed suite and the grounds and the beach.
I went to Dolphin resort for dinner. It’s an amazing restaurant with best level food. But it definitely felt like their own guests were more welcome. Could you pair with them somehow since you don’t have restaurant offerings now Also, there was no full coffee in our suite, only decaf Is that intentional? (If so, I respect that and can be considerate of the choice. )

We neglected to note the breakfast was included. Was it? The front desk staff.
No fan in the bathroom. A staff member vaping outside the entrance to the main building. The Pub food prices are too high for the quality delivered. The batter on the calamari was quite geasy. The humbolt aquid was good tho. The fish & chip batter was also very greasy and a bit over cooked. A lighter batter in fresher oil would be better. The tacos were ho-hum, the chicken could have veen grilled a little crispier. It was moist but almost soggy. $6 for a glass of soda water is ridiculous. No wonder people drink alcohol! I still tipped the waiter as she was lovely.

Because we had a puppy with us...we really appreciated being in a room where we could open up the sliding glass doors to an enclosed deck area so she had somewhere outside she could explore without being on a leash.
Only issue I had was that there was a large stain on the carpet when we arrive...probably from a previous pet accident...no odour... but we worried that the stain could be associated with us after we left.

Beautiful room with nice view down by the water. Pool was nice as well. Much better than the Best Western we stayed in for about the same price in every way. Location, room, pool, property, etc.
Restuarant was pretty quiet, so did not eat there. Rooms right above us were a bit loud. Could hear people very easily, especially on their porch, but not a huge deal. Quiet at night but if you had loud people, it could be an issue. Booking the room had to go through Booking.com, which was fine, but prefer to book directly with property.

Beautifully architecturally designed buildings, landscaping & flowers so beautiful. Years ago I had seen promotional advertisements I’ve wanted to come and check it out.. I think it was off season in June when we arrived. Not many people staying at the property, no tours offered at this time either. However, it was a gorgeous setting , sunset from the dock was beautiful.
We were informed from a local to not eat at the restaurant, the person had a bad experience.

We were happy with the room and the view, but not the breakfast at all.
We ate supper and breakfast in the restaurant, and both were definitely not up to standards that the hotel is striving for. The meals were definitely not up to par, and one of us ordered soup before his meal, it didn't arrive until after were done our meal, and only because he mentioned to the waitress that he had not received the soup, and then the waitress didn't listen to him, she went into the kitchen and got the warm soup, which he received as he did not want to make a fuss.
