Central location in an area with lots of shops and restaurants. It was surprisingly quiet at night. Large comfortable bed. Coffee making facilities. Nice shower and a very deep bath.

Our book in details said they would be sending a TLock code on the day of our booking for us to access the hotel. Nothing arrived and when I rang I was told just to turn up as someone would be there until 8.00pm. If they do not intend to use this system then discontinue sending these details to customers as it’s very confusing. Bath towels were a bit on the small size. It’s an old hotel and the floor creaked a lot. It was a cool night - just as well as the air conditioning unit sounded like there was a large truck actually in the room. Unbelievably noisy!

A nice old hotel basic but clean and comfortable. Parking was easy. A choice of places to eat and drink. We walked to Elizabeth lake which was very pleasant to watch the birds and other wildlife (30min). There is also a nearby park with a memorial to the Canadian war dead, having often visited the war memorials in France it is quite something to bear witness to the sacrifice of so many to wars so far from home - coming from the UK it is humbling. Nearby cafe for breakfast. Overall so much better than staying in one of the boring places on the strip.

I booked this hotel as a stop during my road trip to Calgary. Unfortunately, I woke up in the middle of the night very sick with flu/fever. I was only booked for one night but no way could I continue. I called the front desk and spoke with John (I think that was his name??, in my delirious mind I can’t remember) He was wonderful! Caring, understanding and accommodating. I did have to change rooms but he helped me make the move. When you are alone and sick, the world can be a scary place! Can say enough good things about this property, the accommodations, the clawfoot tub and the very comfortable beds! Was balm to my very ill soul! Thank you!!!

Not one thing

The host, Jim, is very welcoming and immediately puts one at ease. This is the second time that we have stayed at this hotel, and it already feels almost like home. The rooms and the whole building, really, are well decorated so you really feel like you are staying at a classy resort. The beds are very comfortable and it is nice to have extra great seating in the room.

The windows need replacing to double or triple glass to keep out noise from outside, albeit there wasn't too much noise this time. I would also prefer cream or milk in small containers rather than powder for my coffee, but that is just a very small issue. Also, Tim's coffee is not my favorite. I find it bitter. Next time I will try to remember to bring my own Keurig pods.

Great location right in the downtown area. Walkable to dining and shopping. Jim, our amazing host, was so knowledgeable about places to check out and even gave us pointers of what to see on our next stop. It was very quiet even though the hotel is facing one of the main roads. The pub downstairs was convenient, and there was no noise folrom the bar or smells from the kitchen in the hotel. The bed was comfortable, everything was very clean! Not a speck of dust on any of the glass furniture, headboard or even the bathroom light fixtures (I noticed because the hotel we stayed at the night before could really spend some time dusting) The bathroom was also VERY nice with a beatutiful tiled walk in shower. Had a very luxurious feel. Oh and did I mention the amazing host! He was so great he gets mentioned twice! Would definitely be staying again on our future travels!

I don't think this property has an elevator. It was not an issue for us, but something to keep in mind for those less able.

We did very much enjoy this hotel! It was clean and very comfortable. All of the staff were very greeting but especially the man at the reception! He informed us about the farmers market, made sure we got parking and showed us where to find utensils.

A few negative things was that there was limited parking. This wasn’t a problem for us, but I could imagine it could become a problem. If you can’t secure parking you have to pay for parking across the street. Also parking is a little walk from the hotel entrance so you have to walk with luggage and carry it up the stairs since there’s no elevator.

If you are looking for an immaculate historic location in the heart of the city, the Baker Hotel will not disappoint you. The rooms and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The bedding is terrific, the rooms are spacious and furnished very nicely, and the place has character. Parking is free. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the advice Jim gave us on what to see in the area. I wish we could have stayed much longer there and hope to return sometime.

The lack of an elevator could be a problem for some folks, but the staff will provide any help needed.

The room we stayed in was very clean and well-appointed. We appreciated the little touches of history in some of the art and decor that lined the walls and made up the rooms. Several restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores were within walking distance.

Like a lot of reviews we read before coming to the Baker Hotel, the walls are thin, (we heard people walking and talking in the hallways and rooms for much of the night/morning), and the music from the bar/night club downstairs can resonate through with a dull drone until midnight-ish. It's an older building and somewhat to be expected. If you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend a white noise maching and or sleep-aids.

Highly recommended. It was great to find an independent hotel in the downtown area away from the busy highway strip. The room was spacious, clean and recently renovated. The kitchen was fully equipped with dishes, cutlery, pots and a single burner hot plate. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The room cleaner saved us a lot of grief by pointing out that my wife had left her cellphone behind as she was leaving the room.

The only thing missing in the kitchen was a drainboard for washing dishes, a very minor item.

It was a nice room,great bathroom. Room is a bit smaller than most nowadays, but it is a very cool old building and kudos to whoever renovated it. The front desk fellow, I believe his name was Jeff, was great!

I didn’t like the system with the message saying I would get a code to self check. I never got anything, so I was kinda confused how I was going get in, until I actually got there and called and Jeff very helpful, told me that really only applies to after hours check in. Not a good system.
