The room was very nice and the area around the hotel was very quiet. The bed was great- very comfortable with good linens. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

For a hotel that tries to elude luxury I was really surprised they cheaped out on the toiletries provided (dollar store quality). We flew to Nfld and I assumed it would be decent in this regard so didn’t bring any -eg they didn’t provide conditioner-shampoo and also a 2-1 (why?) but offered you 15% off of their Aveda products from their spa… and there aren’t any drugstores nearby so just a tip to bring your own if you stay here

The staff were amazing. From the moment we arrived (at 7:00 in the a.m.) they couldn't be more helpful. Although we couldn't check in they suggested options for breakfast, sightseeing and places to visit. The Rooms was one of those suggestions and we couldn't have been more thrilled with the time spent there. The staff in The Bistro were exceptional and we want to give a big shout-out to Jane. She is just such a lovely young woman and made our start to every morning a delight. The hotel is away from the downtown area and we really loved that. The walk to Downtown St. John's got us going every day.

Spacious room and bathroom. Quiet location.

Housekeeping staff not consistent. One day they did not come till around 5pm. The next morning they knocked on our door before we were up to give us more towels (which we did not request). I stored those in the bathroom but when they came to make up the room, they took them! Do not understand what they were doing. Also when they made up the room they did not remove or replace used glasses/coffee cups and just left the dirty ones in the room. Perhaps additional training is needed! Air conditioning unit in the room made a noise each time it kicked in! Should be fixed.

Warm, welcoming staff, accommodating attitude. Comfortable room, easy to moderate room temperature for comfort, food at the bistro was very nicely prepared.

Not really a matter of didn't like, but given the number of rooms and guests in the hotel, it felt like the bistro wasn't large enough to accommodate that number of people and that, perhaps, they were a bit under-staffed because the bistro staff appeared to be over-worked. Having said that, everything was great, the bistro staff were super pleasant, attentive, and professional and the food was delicious. Just felt like we might be imposing when they seemed too busy.

It was beautiful. I was very impressed when I came in to the room. I especially liked how I can cook there and store things in the fridge. Staff did a wonderful job on the days that I asked for the cleaning as well. I felt very much at home there, it was beautiful. The Jacuzzi in the room was a total, plus plus plus! Too bad I came at a time that it was quite warm or the fireplace was amazing. I got to watch TV in the Jacuzzi, which was really nice. Oh, and I forgot to mention I did attend to the spa. I really loved the spa and the room service. The staff was amazing. There was a night that I asked for wine to be delivered to the room. The staff is so wonderful there was one night it was raining and they still deliver the food and I felt so bad because they came out in the rain, but they always have a smile on the face, I would say it was the most professional and best I’ve ever seen from all the travels I’ve had in my life! They called me every night before closing to ask me if I wanted anything that is true hospitality experience right there!

I would say the only complaint I would have was the showerhead it was small and for someone that has mobility issues at times a bigger showerhead like would’ve been best or a showerhead that had an Extension. By having an extension, I’m able to feel like I’ve rinsed off everywhere and for my bit as well too. The pressure of the shower wasn’t that great either otherwise everything else was excellent. The other complaints I would have is the food at the bistro. I was not impressed. Maybe I’m a little too picky because I’m a chef. And because of that, I just did order once.

The bed was super comfortable. I really liked the location away from downtown but not too far. It was very quiet and relaxing. The room was nice and large. We ate at the little Bistro and had a delicious cod burger! All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Also free parking and lots of room to park. Overall we had a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Not a real issue but sometimes the fridge would come on and annoy me at night. It was right beside the bed in the nightstand.

This hotel is soooo comfortable and beautiful. It’s already third time I stayed there and will back again and again . Even if compare Monastery hotel with more famous hotels in St. John’s, he will be more amazing than others . Staff very friendly and always helps with any asking . Fireplace in rooms it’s just WOW . Place where hotel located is so peaceful and nice . Monastery hotel is 100of 10 ❤️❤️❤️ Love it .

Bathtub not every time clean enough - this only one minus

The location was amazing, staff was over the top, & the room was like an entire apartment! Even the housekeeping staff, specifically Tryna & Natalia, went beyond our expectations, with their desire to make us comfortable. Merlene Wright at the desk, assisted first by phone & then, on a daily basis, to help make this like our home for 5 Nights! So friendly, professional & helpful!

Room was well equipped and comfortable. Enjoyed the bistro for 2 meals. Bistro called on 3rd night to say they were closing in case we wanted to order.

Very little information about St johns and events. A little further from the centre than we would normally stay. Outside walking distance although easily reached by car.

The room was nice and just what we expected. There is nothing i would change. Next time I will look at getting massages, this time around was just for the night and we didn't have time. Our next visit I will make for a weekend.

I like walk in showers without tubs, but I don't expect every room to have it so there really wasn't anything I didn't like. We ordered nacho's and they left a little to be desired.
