Even though it is right off the highway, the Sands is fairly quiet for sleeping. The view over the lake is lovely and the sandy beach great for swimming. The room has everything that is needed and makes good use of the view with a large window and door out to the deck. The bed was very comfortable.
The floor could have been cleaned a little better. I don't know if the restaurant is part of the Sands or separate, but we had almost an hour wait for our dinner and mine had obviously been under the lights for a bit. The food was fair. We did not try the continental breakfast.

The beds and linen were clean. Kitchen was fine but stove only had 1 working element. Bathroom was OK but bath tub was not clean. There was tons of sand on the table and floor which we had to clean when we arrived. The smoke alarm had its battery loosened. The view from the chalet is gorgeous and access to the beach is fantastic. Everything was very relaxing.
The lack of cleanliness when we arrived.

wonderful restaurant with great options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike! Great location, beautiful view, bring your skis, snowshoes or snowmobiles in the winter and have fun across the lake. Perfect for swimming, kayaking and canoeing in the summer. Love this location, close enough to local towns to explore, but a peaceful place to escape and recharge. Under new ownership the last year or two, really nice people who run the place well!
Did not like having to go home. :)

Excellent location…. Just a few seconds walk from the room to the waters edge… Good food in the restaurant too. Room was clean and well maintained….
Laid back attitude of staff at check in. We had travelled a considerable distance and had to stand and wait for several minutes while desk staff dealt with a phone call which had came in after we had arrived into the reception…

Lake view (and the lake). Spacious beds and comfortable rooms. Food is good. Close to Berry's Bay (great Muskoka coffee and sandwiches and Wilno + 1h to Algonquin Park. Great area for canoeing. You can also visit Bonnechere Caves (and that most amazing walk in the Shaw Food)
The terrasse is shared with other rooms (simple panels would help privacy and still make it big enough) and could have been cleaner / freshly painted (as would the outside walls). WiFi is spotty.

LOCATION!!!!!!! Lovely room. Amazing welcome by such a great young man who then cooked us a delicious dinner despite the resraurant just closing. Comfiest bed ever. Air purifier. Beach - great for swimming in.
Single use cups Plastic packets with condiments. Smoke alarm was ganging from ceiling. Comfy chair appeared to have list it's padding

Room is overlooking the lake and very tidy and comfortable. On site restaurant is good for dinner but will be closed at 7pm.
There is no breakfast provided and no other cafe nor foodshop nearby to offer breakfast. So it is better to purchase food beforehand. Heater is loud and that disturbs sleeping.

It would have been nice to be able to open a window for the lovely evening breeze. The patio doors had no screens and the only window had an air conditioner built into it and couldn't open.

The facility was really good. Our primary target was to visit Algonquin Park. The hotel is one to one and hour drive from the park's eastern and western gate which is okay to me. Staff were very helpful. The Fish and chips in the restaurant is a must. The hotel is right beside the beach. You can enjoy the beautiful sunset. We went there in October. Definitely will go back in the summer.
Can't think of anything that I didn't like.

Love The Sands, spectacular view of the lake and gorgeous sunset. Staff very friendly and check in was easy. I will be coming back.
The only thing I don't like is it's 3 hours from where I live. My fiance grew up around the area, but we live in peterboroug.
