The house is a 3 storey old manor house built in the 1800`s and very well restored. We stayed in the penthouse apartment which has a balcony overlooking Lake Ontario. The apartment is a great size, very well equipped and nicely decorated. The bedroom in particular is a good size and very attractive. The location is about 4 miles outside of Kingston, easy to find, secluded and quiet. There are two flights of stairs to climb which may be an issue for the less limber, but that goes with being a penthouse.

Nothing. If you book a penthouse in a 3 storey house then you have to accept that there will be stairs to tackle.

Lovely location overlooking the St. Lawrence River (Penthouse Suite only) and part of Milton Island. A glorious full moon accompanied us from the balcony during our stay. Now and in the near future is the time to book these penthouse views of the river, as in 10 years or so the trees of the riverfront properties, in front of the Manor, will completely block this view. We also liked the easy access to Kingston or Gananoque for restaurants and sightseeing.

The historic Whitney Manor was the perfect home base for exploring the 1000 Islands during our two day vacation! It is located on the outskirts of Kingston in a quiet, mature neighbourhood with large treed lots and rambling waterfront homes. We love historic homes and our Penthouse Suite delivered that extra charm and more with the interior stone walls, wooden floors and beams. It was a beautiful apartment and had a great view of the St. Lawrence River from the living room and the private, outdoor balcony. The kitchen was very well-equipped with a good selection of pots and pans, cutlery, glasses and dinnerware. There was even salt/pepper, cooking oil, plastic food wrap and aluminum foil - everything you could possibly need for a short or extended stay. If you have mobility issues, the Penthouse Suite probably would not be the best choice. There are two flights of stairs (20 steps) to access the door to the suite and then another 15 steep stairs up to the living area. It's a good work out, but the views are worth it!

The Lasalle Causeway, which is the main bridge that leads from downtown Kingston to the east end of Kingston where the Manor is located, is currently closed to traffic. Unfortunately, the detour adds about another 15-20 minutes to your trip if you want to head back into Kingston's downtown area for dinner/shopping. Thankfully, we knew this in advance and we brought along an easy dinner that we could prepare in our suite after a long day of travel.

We had a sealed envelope with our name on it when we arrived. The pamphlet contained all the information we need to enter the unit and everything was labelled and laid out in detail. If I couldn't work something I just had to read the instruction left in plain site. The suite was stunning. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare anything you would want. I do recommend bringing the spices you may need other than salt and pepper. Creamers and milk were greatly appreciated! There was even an outside space for in the summer that would be excellent!

The rooms are exceptional. Sparkling clean, outstanding interiors, very well maintained. The surroundings are very nice and the property is in a lush neighbourhood with nicely kept gardens. Stayed at the penthouse suite and the view from the terrace overlooking the St Lawrence river are breath taking. Not to mention the incredible silence.

This is a fabulous historical building to stay in. The restored manor is unique with rustic touches but modern conveniences. Our suite even had a washer and dryer. The property is lovely with trees and plants and a view of the lake. Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the serenity and quiet of the property. It's tucked away in a little quiet neighborhood. The location is perfect for exploring the Kingston, Gananoque and The Thousand Islands Area. Our hosts were easy to contact and responded immediately to any questions and request. I recommend the Whitney Manor!!

The mattress on the bed needs to be reviewed and a full length mirror nothing expensive to see yourself after getting dressed TV in bedroom also .Everything else was beautiful and very clean and lots of towels were supplied

We stayed at the Graystone suite. Absolutely beautiful. The suite is stunning, such a cozy ambiente. Super clean and equipped with all we needed. 8 minutes to downtown Kingston by car. We truly enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely stay there again.

This place is unbelievably beautiful! It’s wow factor is incredible. If your in this area there is no other choice. We stayed at the Whitney suite . Definitely a multiple night desirable place. One night just wasn’t enough. Huge kitchen, very inviting atmosphere. We loved all of it

The penthouse suite has a balcony that looks over the St. Lawrence river, which with the full moon was fantastic. The former attic is well appointed and pretty comfortable. The bed was super comfortable.

I had mobility issues, so climbing the steep stairs from the second floor to the penthouse, was difficult. I was not used to the dryer, which started to leak water while I was trying to use it. None of the dryers I've owned have been hooked up to water, so I don't know what I did wrong.
