Our stay at this hotel was fantastic! The staff were very helpful and resourceful. We really loved our room, view of the river and the hotel's services. The breakfast buffet offers lots of variety and caters to all tastes. The hotel was very clean, central and accessible via metro. We mostly used the metro as our main means to travel which is both super convenient and affordable. Haizu Square is strategically placed to access main business areas such as Sanyuanli. You can use both lines 8 and 6. Another thing to note is the proximity to malls nearby such as Onelink Plaza, jewellery wholesale market and many other malls, packed with stores, milk tea places and restaurants. Beijing Lu road was ~10 min walk and very easy. Great bonus point is the availability of suitcase sellers further down that don't get as much passage so you can haggle decent prices. Overall I loved my experience here and can't wait to return.

Nothing, the hotel was fantastic. N.B: Be careful when using the nearby ATM from ICBC branch as it says it accepts mastercard and visa cards but it swallowed our card straight away. You need to wait for the next business day to retrieve it.

The location was exceptional, right beside the metro station and in front of Haizhu Square and the river. I love to walk so it's walking distance to the Beijing Road pedestrian street and to Liwan District and Shamian Island. There's lots of stuff to see and there are plenty of restaurants. The staff were also really helpful, kind and welcoming. They let me store my luggage there for over a week while I travelled to another place in China and then returned to stay at this hotel.

There was construction right outside the property. This wasn't the property's fault since the local government is doing some road construction, but on a few days I did wake up really early to the sound of loud banging.

Breakfast was decent. I noticed that the hotel had undergone renovations, and it really shows. The property is well-maintained, and the staff are polite and eager to assist, even with the language barrier. Thanks to the hotel's close proximity to the Haizu Square metro station, we found it very easy to explore various parts of the city apart from using the DiDi ride-hailing service.

The title on Booking.com is misleading: "Guangzhou Hotel - Free shuttle bus to exhibition center during Canton Fair period." We booked this hotel specifically for this service, but upon arrival, we learned from the reception that the shuttle is no longer offered. Please correct this information on the website.

The 2022 renovation was super classy and most importantly, functional. Things just work. You have a wide enough bathroom countertop, it's spacious, the light switches are labeled in both Chinese characters and English. I've stayed in many well-known American chain hotels where they renovate in a way so that everything is just sleek. So sleek it's hard to figure out how to turn on the bedside lamp because it doesn't have a switch, it's a touch sensor. And it seems like all the major hotel chains are jumping on the same dumb trend. Not at the Guangzhou Hotel. It's modernized, but still remembers its roots. For example, the elevators have a wall decoration that says "27 floors" which is a nod to its nickname when it first opened. Modern, classy, and not at all generic. The view over the river from the top floors was the coolest view in town back in the day, so much that families would go to a photo studio to get their family pics taken in front of a photo of the view. The Guangzhou Hotel has not forgotten its place in the history and identity of Guangzhou. The AC is super responsive and works really well. It's also very clean, which just elevates your stay so much more. Also a bus to/from Hong Kong (including a direct bus to/from HKIA) stops literally at the front door. The ticket office is in the lobby. Extremely convenient. The location cannot be beat. Right above Exit E at the Haizhu Square Subway Station, across from great shopping at BinBin, great food all around, great views, etc.

The room could have more hooks and hangers. Also a makeup mirror that can magnify your face.

Cindy was amazing at the check in desk. We had an issue with our hotel room smelling like smoke when we checked in on April 4. When we told her on April 5th that we wanted to switch rooms, she was able to find a recently vacated room, coordinated for us to go into the new room to make sure it met our standards. She was very helpful and we appreciated her assistance. We also liked the fancy toilets - the warm toilet seat was very enjoyable. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and very helpful.

The coffee in the buffet was horrible. Please supply spoons or stir sticks in the rooms because visitors can’t make instant coffee without contacting housekeeping.

Outstanding Service and Immaculate Cleanliness I had a wonderful stay and was especially impressed by how helpful the staff were throughout our visit. The bellboys—or perhaps they’re called butlers—deserve a special mention. Richard, in particular, went above and beyond to assist us when our Alipay wasn’t working, even helping us order food. His kindness and professionalism truly stood out. The location is perfect if you’re looking to be in the heart of the city—everything is within easy reach. But what I appreciated most was how impeccably clean the entire place was. It made our stay feel that much more comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommend!

I actually liked everything I just wished the stuff spoke better English

Walking distance to Beijing road this hotel is ideal for families travelling with kids and groups. Staff is friendly and helpful and follows up on your requests for extra towels, buying mobile plans or any other requests. Breakfast is very good but lacks variety specially for people looking for kosher/halal options. Building is old but renovated/modern rooms so overall you get good comfortable stay. Very easy to get taxi's and rideshare (Didi) in front of hotel. River cruise terminals are close to hotel within 5 mins taxi ride.

Really bad smell as if someone is smoking in areas (outside rooms and elevators), less choices of food / same menu everyday for vegetarians, no halal/kosher choice in breakfast, only 2 hours of free wifi internet provided per day :( , staff selling more expensive mobile plans (better get e-sim) , takes bit longer to check-in compared to other hotels, Requested 2 double bed rooms but offered/got one double bed and one 2xsingle bed room.

Miss Lisa was simply amazing. We arrived at the hotel and there were some unsorted matters on the rooms and Lisa immediately took action and made our 6 nights stay for 3 rooms into a joyous getaway holiday. I would definitely recommend any of my friends and family to book here and look for this helpful, attentive, friendly and hardworking staff. Her service surpass our expectations and we are lucky to meet her. I would like to mention Miss JoJo who attended to my friend was equally nice and helpful. Location is in the centre and easy access to metro and train from Guangzhou South Train station. Food is easily accessible and walking distance to Beijing road that has many good eateries to choose. Room type - business studio river view and business suite room. A friend stayed a night in the elite twin room and it was equally comfortable and clean.

Amazing location with beautiful river views. The metro station is conveniently located right beneath the property, making it incredibly easy to get around. Beijing Road is just steps away, offering endless shopping and dining options. The nearby night markets are vibrant and full of life – with crowds, colourful lights, delicious street food, and lively stalls creating a truly local experience. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and efficient. Overall, a fantastic choice for a short stay in Guangzhou!

We booked another night at this hotel before connecting flight next day. Similar experience delays with check-in but friendly staff, great location close to Beijing road and we managed to experience the city again for one night as hotel is close to all touristy locations. This hotel is ideal for families travelling with kids and groups.
