The hotel's location is excellent. It's close to the metro station and has numerous eating and entertainment options nearby. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, although a little bit dated. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming, and able to speak English (although we communicated in Mandarin).

An air purifier was provided in the room, which helped with the very slight smell of cigarette smoke that came out from the central air conditioner. The temperature in our room was hard to adjust and it always felt quite cold.

Nice room, breakfast, lovely staff. The club lounge food is great, it’s like a mini dinner haha. Walking distance to Yuyuan garden area. Club lounge staff are attentive, helpful. Front desk staff Hannie is very nice and professional, checking on our needs often. The bot delivering water is a highlight for our toddler everyday 😄

For the first timer visiting Shanghai with limited time, Renaissance Shanghai Yuan Garden Hotel is “the perfect” choice. The main factors are “location”, “value”, and “amenities and services”. The hotel is right next to traditional shopping areas, Yu Garden, and few other touristy areas. It is also a walking distance to the Huang Pu River area. Although the timing was not right, December was quite cold and windy. But we really enjoyed the walk.

The property is very convenient to some popular touristy areas. Yu Garden is a must visit. The Shanghai old city street is also recommended. There are many street vendors and shopping areas that offer souvenirs with reasonable prices. In addition to the hotel restaurants, there are plenty of restaurants (big or small) around the hotel for you the choose from. The hotel breakfast was excellent! If you want to upgrade your stay, book a hotel room with the “river view” that would take your breath away!

The view was as promised. Large room and big bed. Location is very good, in front of the subway exit that connects to airports and other subway lines and train stations. Access to the rooftop bar is via a stairway only, with fantastics views. Late checkout and afternoon tea are lovely details.

The hotel and facilites need an update and some details need to be fixed. Be aware that the staff is not fluent in english, though they try to be helpful.

The location of the hotel was near to amenities such as the Yu Garden shopping and food. The fact that the subway station is less that 5 - 6 minutes from the hotel is a plus. It is central and we stayed there for 6 nights to explore Shanghai and surrounds.

Perhaps the pillow in the room was a little soft. We requested for a harder pillow and was given the one filled with beans. The grocery shop is about 10- 12 minutes walk from the hotel if you would like to get some milk or snacks. Nothing much that I didn't like. It has all the amenities that you would expect for an above average hotel.

Super strategic place, their facilities is great just that our view faced an empty lot.. too bad, very near to yu garden and the bund. Would recommend to my friends and family. Definitely will be back if I return to Shanghai. And their staff’s service is excellent. Mostly speaks English. And helpful

The buffet breakfast is abit meh.. but overall it was ok. Is the best you book 1 day before to get the discount rate. Otherwise it will be more expensive.

They allowed early check in, which was as very great after 14 hours flight. The room was clean, we had perfect view to city. Location is good. Metro station in front of hotel, old city 2 minutes walking. We forgot wallet in lobby with all money, in the morning received it with all belongings. Also beautiful view and tasty restaurant on roof 22-23 floor.

Roof Restaurant is 3rd party. Cannot add bill to the room. And closes at 12 evening on weekdays.

Rooms were spacious and very clean and location was great.

Breakfast let the property down. Lots of staff walking around in suits clearing tables but the food was cold. All food in chafing dishes was cold and even when we asked for a hot chocolate for our children it was served like warm. The breakfast offering was very well presented but not sure how you can have so many staff walking around totally unaware that the food was cold.
