Our recent stay at SSAW Boutique Hotel Shanghai was overwhelmingly positive, with a few notable setbacks. The **location is unbeatable**—just a short walk to the MRT, Yuyuan Garden, and The Bund, making sightseeing effortless. The **room was outstanding**—spotlessly clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. Breakfast was another highlight, offering a great spread that was truly worth it. My 8-year-old enjoyed it immensely, and at $13, it was a great value. The **complimentary laundry service** from 9 to 10 was a fantastic touch, adding to the overall convenience. I would like to especially **acknowledge Nin**, who went above and beyond to assist me late at night—almost midnight—by finding cardboard boxes to pack my belongings. His dedication and helpfulness truly stood out and deserve recognition. I would also like to acknowledge staff members who dealt with our issues I mentioned in regards to my cookies. Overall, our stay was **very satisfactory**—great location, comfortable accommodations, excellent breakfast, and thoughtful touches like free laundry. If the hotel could address the smoking issue and ensure better care with guests' belongings, it would make the experience even more exceptional.

However, there were a couple of disappointments. Unfortunately, the staff mistakenly discarded **a 4.5 KG batch of cookies** that were a cherished gift from a long-time friend in Beijing. Although the hotel offered a complimentary dinner as compensation, this incident was quite disheartening and should not have happened. Another downside was the **heavy smoking on the ground floor**, which made the reception area unpleasant. This was a significant letdown, as the strong smell was noticeable throughout.

The location is exceptional. It is walking distance from Yu Garden and on a good weather day can even walk to People’s Square from there. The staff of the hotel is exceptionally cooperative. Our flight got cancelled late at night and they helped call the airline helpline and get information for us. Ps: When it was pouring down and we couldn’t step out for food, the staff helped order food for us online.

The room size was good, I really liked the sliding partition between the bedroom and the living area for extra privacy. The bath that fit 2 people next to a big window with a view of Shanghai was amazing. Staff were friendly, breakfast food was good, a mini fridge got restocked daily with water and soft drinks, the hotel was located between lots of tourist attractions at a walkable distance. I also requested early check-in (4 hours early) due to a morning arrival. I emailed in advance and they accommodated my request with no issues or extra fees.

Taxi drivers didn't like dropping us off outside the hotel, so we often had to get dropped off at the other side of the road and make our way across. Although the sliding partition between the bedroom and the living area was great, the partition between the bathroom and the bedroom was no good.

- opposite of our room was construction work which start 05.30 hours in the morning, so we are awake by then. (Would be nice that the front desk Informed us) - the housekeeping forgot some thing which I asked for - reception is OK, however they are sometimes not efficient. 3 persons helping with one request

Front desk was exceptional. My mandarin is not the most proficient and the front desk was more than willing to assist with making restaurant reservations for us. The hotel is situated close the the Bund and has a locally run convenience store just downstairs which was extremely convenient. The rooms were very spacious and the cleaning staff very friendly. The gym was clean and relatively well equipped (for a hotel gym) and the laundry room was well maintained (no detergent required). Only drawback was that the laundry room and gym are not 24hr facilities.

A/C was intentionally switched off due to the season that we visited (Autumn i think). Therefore, the room only had heating function. some evenings it would be a little bit warm as it does get a little sunny in the day, but all good otherwise.

The location is top notch, only 3mins away from Yuyuan Garden Line 10 subway & less than 10mins to the Yuyuan Garden & Yuyuan old street. From the subway gate you can see the amazing view of new Shanghai area. To Popmart Nanjing store is only 20mins by walk. The rooftop also has a view of the new Shanghai minus the Pearl Tower. Although some of the staffs may have language barrier, but they also amazed us to help us & assist our needs. Amazing breakfast, very big & comfortable bathtub with good water pressure & amenities.

The table of our corner sofa is kinda rusty & obsolete. The hotel doesn’t have proper lobby to for drop-off/pick-up, but I think exception if you are with luggage (upon check in/out)

Great location and friendly staff. We were given one of the larger rooms on level 2, which was very spacious. The complimentary water and soft drinks were a nice touch. The free washing machines and dryers were fantastic, we were able to get our laundry done in just 40 minutes! The gym was small but had enough equipment for a decent workout. The outdoor patio area was perfect for relaxing during the day and enjoying drinks at happy hour. The location was great, within walking distance to cafes and restaurants and about an 8 minute walk to the metro. We would definitely stay here again.

Such a friendly welcome. Allowed me to check in at 10am and had upgraded me to a lovely room. Location was brilliant and room had a sheet with loads of helpful hints about places to go and how to get there. Complimentary drink, the ability to switch a paid for breakfast for lunch or dinner instead, free laundry access, an online spa and gym. I absolutely couldn't fault this hotel. (I had spent the previous two nights in another SSAW hotel in a different part of the city and my experience was completely different.

Very friendly staff, everybody I spoke to spoke proper English. The room was very big and comfortable. Despite ongoing constructions nearby, the room was dead silent. Free water, vegetable snack and soft drinks were very nice addition. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I had in Asia! Large buffet with plenty options for vegetarians, and some for vegans as well.

The room could be a bit cleaner. Generally it was clean (for example bed was spot on), but some parts of the floor were not cleaned properly. I am a very cleanliness-sensitive person and room was clean enough for me, so I guess it should be perfectly fine for most people.
