This is a family operated establishment with a small number of units. All bungalows have a hot tub. Some have balconies opening to the surrounding forest. We rented the family bungalow which also had a small private pool. It was great to come in after a day of hiking and exploring and relax in our private patio area with the pools. The rooms were comfortable and the A/C was very welcome as the temperature was rather warm and humid at times. Breakfast was included with options for a Tivo-style breakfast or a more international option. Jose and his mother was excellent hosts. He was especially helpful in arranging a guide for us (Beto) who very pleasant and had excellent knowledge of the area. (BTW: I STRONGLY recommend getting a guide for your explorations. Not only for their local knowledge but because fauna can be difficult to spot and almost impossible to get good photos without a spotting scope, which all guides seem to have.) The Bungalows are located a very short drive (less than 5 minutes) from the village of Chachagua, about 20 minutes from La Fortuna. We really enjoyed the authentic local Tico atmosphere. Everything we needed was available, several restaurants, groceries, pharmacy, etc. La Fortuna itself is a bustling town with lots of tourist activities. We personally preferred the more laid back, restful atmosphere of Chachagua.

Our large family unit is the first unit in the complex and is rather close to the road. This meant there was some noticeable road traffic noise at times. We had the option of moving to a more secuded unit farther away from the road but chose to stay in our unit because of the additional amenities.

This place is absolutely fantastic!! Extremely comfortable and the balcony with the hot tub makes you feel connected to nature. The shower is another plus, very spacious and pretty. There’s a little river nearby, really pretty. The hosts are extremely helpful and taking care of us at every step of the way. It is close to La fortuna city center (about 20min) but mind that there are very sinuous roads so it can be tricky to come back at night. We loved it and will definitely be back!!! Highly recommended!

Everything! Jose and his mother made us feel really welcome in the property. The bungalow is very well designed, and the jacuzzi is just amazing. We spend three days in ultimate tranquility hanging out in the bungalow. Its a little drive from La Fortuna, but had already spent a few days there before, so that was no problem. The town close by has some good food options! Every bungalow seems to be one it's own height, so each has it's own beautiful view of the lush forest.

Bungalows Las Iguanas Arenal Volcano is a great place to stay. We had the superior bungalow with own hot tub and 2 queen/king size bed, that was really spacious, and comfortable. It is also perfectly located, all attractions around Fortuna is easily reachable by car in 10-40 minutes. This is a small family owned business, where the Mother makes you a traditional Costa Rican breakfast every day. You are away from the busy roads, next to the nature, but still close to several attractions. I would stay here again.

Jose and his family were very gracious hosts. Anytime we needed anything, he was able to help. And the breakfast! So good...I want their bean and rice recipe! :) The hot tub was a big draw for us. Our bungalow was at the top of the hill and we were visited by so many birds! We saw at least 20 different kinds of birds just from our balcony! On our last day, we saw a pair of Scarlett Macaws in the wild! The place is about 20 minutes outside of La Fortuna, beside a little forest. It was very quiet and secure.

The only thing that I wished we had was an indoor seating area. But that's just my North American comfort that I'm used to and probably isn't something that people want/need when living in a climate like Costa Rica. I know there were a couple bungalows that offered an indoor seated area. So if that's something that you want/need, I would try and get one with it.

In this small family operation, Jose’s service was impeccable. He reached out in advance and removed down/feather pillows as I’m allergic. Six stars, Jose, for preheating the outdoor jacuzzi in advance of our arrival. Bungalow is the right word: small, adequate, hybrid indoor and outdoor. Jacuzzi on the side; rainforest in the back. Breakfast was more than adequate, and we enjoyed a tasty dinner at the Ross restaurant in nearby Chachagua. Sadly, we missed an early morning sighting of the area sloth crawling across the power line above. That’s for next time.

This was one of our favourite places to stay in Costa Rica. The breakfast was delicious and so fresh, the family who runs the business were so friendly and kind, and the rooms were so relaxing and comfortable. It is 20 mins from La Fortuna which didn’t both us as it was nice and quiet and we had our own car. The hot tub on the deck was one of our favourite parts to enjoy each evening and the bed was so comfortable. The pictures look outdated as the room was very modern. Also very clean. Highly highly recommend this place!!

It was very private and remote. This is in a very rural area of La Fortuna. If you want to be more in the mix of Fortuna, this may not be your place. If you want an evening of peace and quite after touring the area, it’s great here. It is a solid 20 minute drive to La Fortuna if you want to go in there for dinner. Breakfast was great. Two options to choose from that are delivered to your room at the time of your choice.

It’s a relatively new property. They are incredibly hospitable but still working out the kinks.

My 14 year old daughter and I stayed 4 nights and the staff, the accommodations, and the breakfasts were all exceptional. We rented the bungalow and had our own bedrooms, bathrooms, hot tub, and our own pool! Staff is amazing and we even enjoyed a sloth moving along the power line on the property. We loved that it was out of town a bit and more immersed with locals. they Gave us great nearby restaurant recommendations also. Amazing place to stay!!!

Wow. Great outdoor covered space perfect for hanging out when the rain comes, with mini kitchen & hot tub. Clever planting gave privacy & made you feel a part of nature. Rooms well furnished with colourful artwork. Clean. Jose very welcoming, thoughtful & helpful.

Location a little out of the way - but we liked that. Not a huge choice if sodas/restaurants in nearby Chacuagua, but ok for a night or two.
