The view from the rooms is spectacular! But there are also the breathtakingly beautiful birds that make the Lodge area their home! So many different species right there in the property - as well as the cows & horses that graze on either side. But most of all, there is the friendly, attentive staff - especially, the men who hold down the fort at reception: Blaz & Isaac. Both were always responsive whenever I had a question, request, or the TV wasn't working (which Isaac immediately fixed)... anything. And Blaz in particular, was proactive - always checking to see if there was anything I needed or anything he could help me with. That kind of genuine care in the hospitality sector is rarer these days than it ought to be. The view of Arenal and the peacefulness notwithstanding, the staff is really what makes this place so special. I will recommend it to everyone I like/love, and only wish I could've stayed more than 3 nights!

It was almost perfect. My only suggestion would be to have a bedside lamp. Overhead lighting as the only option makes no sense to me.

Good value for the price - we scored a last minute deal. Breakfast was included which is always a bonus. Randy was very personable and welcoming! We also liked that it is NOT in downtown Fortuna which can be quite noisy.

I thought we were reserving a spot in the bungalows - arrived to find we were in the main building and noise from second floor was a bit much with the tile floors. Bungalows are on a separate property which requires a walk out to the main highway and back up another driveway. The pool is a walk down the driveway and not quite what was shown in the pics.

Close to La Fortuna, not too pricey and restaurant was good. Staff were lovely.

The photos of the rooms were misleading and it was unclear which room was which. The pool was totally empty during our stay, and despite this we were directed to it for a swim, by hotel staff - so it is inaccurate to describe the property as having a pool. Only one overhead light in the room which was a bit overwhelming and shared between two double beds. Only three coat hangers for a room with two double beds.

Breakfast was great. It was hard to remember to let them know when we were coming the day before but understand because of the small space you had to make reservations. We loved the view. We also loved the location. It was about 10-15 mins driving from everything we planned to see.

I think the biggest negative was all the traffic noise. The motor bikes were so loud and all hours of the night. It is the main highway into town and traffic was pretty much non stop. Only after 11 or 12 did it quiet down.

The highlights of this stay were the location (perfectly positioned in between everything), the wildlife on the surrounding property (we saw the red eyed frog, a peccary, blue jean frogs, Muscovy ducks, and ~15 bird species), and lastly the staff. Randall, one of the hotel staff members was exceptional! He used to give wildlife night tours, and was kind enough to do mini night walks with us to help us find the animals. Also wonderful breakfast

The rooms/facilities themselves were nothing to write home about

The lodge was great! We got to pick our choice of breakfast every morning and everything was freshly made once we arrived to eat. The location was also great, about a 10 minute drive to La Fortuna, but there also many restaurants and mini marts very close by. The volcano view was amazing and morning sunrises were gorgeous. There was plenty of activities to do near the lodge that were within 30 minutes or less.

The property was quaint and perfect for our trio. The view of Arenal was perfect. It’s only 15 minutes away from the main town. The food is homemade comida típica and is an absolute must have. The breakfast is included but even then the lunch and dinner is VERY affordable. We also had two cats accompany us on the property, very friendly and absolutely adorable. Our stay was absolutely wonderful here.

A must stay, what a view of the volcano! Amazing experience during our stay on Arenal Roca Lodge, mainly thanks to Cesar and Henry, the guard from the place. Cesar made everything easy and gave us recommendations of places to eat and activities to do during our stay. Henry so kindly showed us the animals around like the red eye frog, time and sand yellow frog, Martin pescador bird and many more, that plus his explanations were super interesting! The breakfast was delightful and the service too. Truly a must stay. Will recommend and will definitely stay again when we come back.

This place has one of the best view right in front of the Volcano Arenal! The rooms are cabins, so you enjoy an authentic experience with nature. Breakfast was great, you can enjoy a typical costarican breakfast or the american breakfast, food is prepared at the moment so everything is fresh and delicious.

The cabins have great space, the A/C works fine, but it takes a while to cool the room, so probably bigger A/Cs could do better. No pools at the property but there are plenty of thermal pools just a few minutes on road. Beware of insects, so keep your doors and windows closed.

We loved the location. The view from our room was spectacular! It is a beautiful property and we enjoyed staying in one of the bungalows.

We liked everything. Our only issue was that the coffee maker in our room didn’t work, and that we had to, occasionally, fiddle with the toilet to get it to stop running. Also, the swimming pool was undergoing repairs while we were there, so we couldn’t use it. We would have liked to be told about that ahead of time.
