room was very nice; comfortable. We did lose electricity the night we stayed - took about 15 minutes to restore, after my cpap had stopped working and woken me up. I would expect a resort of this size to have back up generators.

Property is meant to be walked, but walking wasn't possible for this 63 year old; it's way too hilly and difficult to get anywhere on foot from our rooms' location. If I'd known I would have requested rooms closer to the pools. I also didn't like when I went for my horseback ride and they weren't expecting me. I had to return to my room to search for my receipt showing I'd paid. Couldn't find it, big kerfluffle, lots of uncertainty, embarrassment, delay of activity for me and everyone. One poorly trained employee nearly ruined our stay. And I didn't like the density of guests enjoying the pools. I was a guest of the resort and could never find an empty chair near the pool, I think because they were all occupied by people there on day passes. Not cool.

Rooms were really antiquated. And swimming was open until 10 PM, I believe, and there are no or very few lights in a lot of the areas (paths or pools). By contrast if you go to Baldi, Hot Springs, there are lights literally everywhere. Los Lagos would really help itself by adding LED lights around the property, including in the pools for at night so the people feel safe when they’re swimming in the dark.

The location was good with a fabulous view to the volcano and out over the plains. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great.

We were in Costa Rica to experience the nature and wildlife....this hotel felt very much like a theme park. Our room was a 15 minute walk down to reception ( very steep to walk back up)although you can call for the internal shuttle bus at any time. There seemed to be a lot of single use plastic, polythene wrapped drinking glasses in the room, disposable plastic for drinks at the pool bar. I am amazed that they advertise the butterfly garden....it is a run down little shade house that looks like nobody has tended to for a decade. We saw two butterflies in it....you can see way more on any patch of roadside scrubland.

The resort had many thermal pools to hang out in. The property is home to many birds, butterflies and activities to keep you busy for the week. The staff was helpful with all my needs in changing rooms. The restaurant had delicious breakfast buffet and dinners. There is a shuttle that runs throughout the day to bring you to the rooms in the 200’s number scheme.

The room walls are paper thin. I could hear the person snoring and talking on their phone in the room next door. You can also hear the shuttle bus going up and down the road if your room is close to the road. There is no hotel shuttle service into town but Uber or taxi services are 15 minutes away into La Fortuna.

I liked how spread out the rooms were on there property- it didn't feel like a crammed resort! They had vans to pick you up right by your room to take you you the pools or to breakfast. Yes you could drive your car down- but why bother when you can have door to door service. The pools were super clean and of varying temps. The pools were divided by really nice landscaping that attracted colorful birds. There was a road on there property to drive up to view the volcano- we had a great view one of our days. Towels were provided at the pools. They had great bars with food and drinks at super reasonable prices. Breakfast was great- it was included in our room rate. Town was close by so we could go out to dinner in our car.

Breakfast was poor. Everything was a bit substandard. We had left the Intercontinental to in San Jose to spend the night in LaFortuna, so the quality stood out probably a bit more. However, I stay all over the world (as a senior International Flight Attendant) and there is no reason for your hotel to lack! Hire some good cooks and spend the money on good food! Perhaps have a kids buffet line, and adult line. Cereal and pancakes easy fruit for kids (it’s what they were eating anyway) and then improve the adult line. Also, the Bar Pool, with kids? Why not have that for parents who want to drink at a bar with their kids… and have an adult bar, with no yelling, splashing kids!

It’s a beautiful property at the foot of the Arenal Volcano with spacious rooms, beautiful gardens, and relaxing thermal pools and regular water pools. It has a restaurant in site, which served balanced breakfast (included with stay) and delicious dinners. We also appreciated the transportation services with large vans to move people from their rooms to the main areas. Finally, there were trails that took you to a lookout of the volcano and to stables. Our family enjoyed both very much during our stay. We would love to be back and will definitely recommend Los Lagos to our friends and family.

I wished it had a game room for families.

We had a amazing time at this resort, our 2nd time back and would love to return, Great Volcano Views! Beautiful landscaping, so manicured and colorful. Awesome thermal pools with hot, warm and cold, So relaxing the pools are scattered around so no crowds, the pool bar and staff are really nice, fun people. Special thanks to Jose and Oscar at the pool bar we enjoyed talking to him and he provided excellent service. The resort restaurant has an amazing Chef Marcel who made us a very special extra delicious 5 star dinner. He came out to greet and talk to us everyday. The gift shop is very pretty with reasonable prices and a good selection, very pretty shop and the staff is excellent! WE love this resort. Close to town of LA Fortuna easy and cheap UBER trip. We did the ziplining at the resort, A+ staff that runs the zip lining. These guys knew what they were doing and so accommodating and took great pics for us! Can't wait to go back PURA VIDA

Absolutely perfect location to enjoy everything in La Fortuna! We loved all of the excursions close to the hotel and enjoyed all of our downtime at the pools. The food and drinks at the pool restaurant were delicious, fast and super reasonably priced. We did the Zipline onsite which I would highly recommend. The instructors were so patient and professional with our two kids. We rented a car so I loved our room in the 200’s block. So peaceful with a great view of the volcano. It got a little crowded with some day-pass visitors in the afternoon but there’s so many small and large pools and hot springs that you could always find a quiet corner for a little peace. Truly, all the staff was incredible and welcoming. Would return in a heartbeat!
