The hotel was small and perfectly formed. The staff were very friendly, Rodrigo and the barman (Tiku??) went above and beyond and did everything they could to help us. I asked to change room, no problem, Rodrigo helped with my SIM card, great explanation of where to go in town, Tiku entertained us with cocktails, they were fabulous. The room was very clean and quiet. Good value for the level of service and comfort and the owner was a regular presence and very welcoming. Great location to be able to pop back to after a day wandering in town.

The fourth floor room felt a bit smaller but they moved us to the third which was perfect. Quite normal though, old buildings get a bit a bit tight at the top. We were just spoilt. Breakfast menu was a little sparse for the price, great view though.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Stari Grad. We arrived well before the usual check‑in time, yet our room was already prepared, which set the tone for the whole visit. The suite was spotlessly clean, spacious, and extremely comfortable, and the hotel’s location in the heart of Dubrovnik couldn’t have been better. Because we were settled in so quickly, we decided to take a half‑day Elaphiti Islands tour with Lowin Boat—and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The cruise was absolutely beautiful: our friendly captain guided us to hidden coves and shared stories that revealed Dubrovnik’s natural magic. After the tour we went straight to the Above 5 rooftop restaurant. Every dish was delicious and flawlessly presented. The chef, who has worked in Michelin‑starred kitchens, personally introduced the menu and shared his culinary journey, while our waiter delivered warm, professional service. From the early check‑in to the last bite of dessert, the staff were flawless—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. We loved every moment and can’t wait to return for an even longer stay.

Brilliant location in the Old Town just yards from where you want to be. No noise issues. Duty Manager was excellent - very courteous and helpful. Other staff were all excellent professionals. Nice cosy bar for a drink/coffee. Breakfast on the roof terrace was perfect.

Location was great just inside the main Pile gate to the walled old city and with step free access to reception. The staff were excellent. Being a UNESCO heritage city there were no lifts but everything was carried up and down the stairs to our rooms. Staff assisted us with getting transport to the ferry on the only wet day we experienced. The showers were great. We did not have breakfast at the restaurant but went there for dinner which was exceptional. The wait staff knew their products, the chef was amazing and the attention to detail and the view from the rooftop spectacular. However be aware that the price is in keeping with the standard and booking is essential as the restaurant is tiny.

Hotel Stari Grad is a hidden gem in Dubrovnik. The modern decor blends so tastefully with the age of the building. Located down a stone paved alley just minutes from Pile Gate in the heart of Old town, this hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff went out of their way for us. The breakfast on the rooftop was exceptional. You can sip on a latte as the morning unfolds and watch Dubrovnik come alive. From high up, the orange tiled rooftops and views of the wall are amazing. I can’t say enough about this hotel. It is exceptional in every way.

Convenience of being in Old Town. Was walkable in 5 -7 minutes from the Pile Gate with rolling luggage. Ramps and small incline on street to hotel, but no stairs. Very doable! Very comfortable and well appointed room, albeit a little small. Very comfy bed! L’Occitane bath products.

No elevator, but staff carried our luggage to our rooms at check in and out. We were on 3rd floor which was actually 6 flights of stairs. Doable for us in our early 60s, but floor 3 might have been easier.

Great location within the city walls meant we could avoid the worst of the crowds. It was wonderful to walk in the quiet city early morning to find a cafe for breakfast. Staff are extremely charming, helpful and efficient. The room was quiet

Booking.com do not show that there is no lift. Having a room on the 4th floor was a work out. It should be flagged up for those who can't manage so many stairs. Breakfast was 29 euros which even in Dubrovnik is pricey so we enjoyed the local cafes.

The location is in the heart of the old town and you do not have to climb any hills to reach it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well organised. Breakfast was superb with good choices. The rooftop terrace was also an excellent location to enjoy the view and atmosphere of the old town.

It was not necessarily a problem, but both buildings do not have elevators. So climbing the stairs everyday might not be the best situation for all.

Breakfast and the location were outstanding. Above all the staff could not have been more helpful. The rooftop restaurant was excellent and dinner there delicious.

The stairs looked a little daunting at first sight, because I had had a recent operation, but they were perfectly fine when I tried them and the manager and staff were extremely helpful. The views from the rooftop restaurant made the climb completely worthwhile!

Being inside of old town Dubrovnik, within the city walls, the location of the hotel is hands down the best feature. It allows for early morning walks within the city before the mad cruise line rush and for those late nights out.

Hotel is 3.5-4 stars since there is a lack of customer service. Greeting upon arrival was cold and unwelcoming. Reception could have provided map of old town with recommendations like some of our other stays did. Minibar costs added another 30 euros per night and there was no mention of costs. Our fault for thinking it was included but wouldn't be unthinkable when paying $500 euros a night. Expect top notch customer service when paying so much for a hotel and was disappointed.
