Just completely perfect; location room, balcony, host! You’re literally in the heart of split, right in the action but without it being noisy. The apartment is right inside Diocletians palace and honestly can’t believe how little we paid considering that. It’s spacious, the aircon does the lords work and the hosts were able to recommend nice local restaurants. I’d go back here without question.

If you have trouble with stairs, getting up there will be an issue. It’s up a thin spiral staircase for three floors, but unless you have real problems with going up and down then it’s not a real issue

Great location for a short trip—right in the heart of the action. We stayed in Room No. 1 at Golden Gate Dreams Rooms. It was a basic, clean room on the 3rd floor, with a small balcony that added a nice touch. Do keep in mind that the stairs are quite steep, so it might not be ideal for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. Overall, it was a pleasant 2-night stay and a good choice for travelers looking for a central and convenient spot.

One thing to note: we were repeatedly asked about our check-in time, which became a bit inconvenient. It would be great if a key box system could be introduced for more flexible and hassle-free check-in, especially for guests arriving at different times.

The room is not just "inside" the gate, the room is on the gate of the palace, which means you're staying in a thousand-old structure within the historical monument. I honestly couldn't believe this was possible (renting such a place), but the picture of the property is taken from a window at the top of the old steps going up the golden gate of the palace! Despite the antiquity, the room is fully renovated, very clean, with a small balcony overlooking the bell tower of the church. No need to mention how centrally located you will be. An absolute highlight of our brief stay in Split, definitely recommended for its uniqueness. The hosts are also very friendly and helpful.

Not quite a negative, but because the entrance is detached from the other street numbers, it was hard to find (and Google Maps failed to indicate correctly the location). For future guests' reference, it's a small black door at the left as you enter the Golden Gate (see photo).

Location is just awesome: actually you live in the monument! The hosts are hospitable yet delicate. This family care a lot of their guests. Sinisha helped with everything needed, including small screwdriver I needed to fix my glasses :)

It's not a drawback but a factor to be considered: if you have a huge bag with you and you're not fit it might be very challenging to bring it up and down small and steep spiralling stairs.

I have read reviews before booking, and they were spot on - perfect location, unique atmosphere, and great hosts who kindly offered to store my bag when I was on tour all day after checking out I also liked looking through the windows to busy streets below with restaurants as that was more entertaining during evenings than tv

As expected from historic buildings, walls are not soundproof and stairs would be an issue for some people as mentioned in most of reviews.

The location of our room was fantastic - right in the middle of the Dioclesian Palace. Very comfortably appointed. It was also very good that the owner warned us that the staircase was steep and very windy - we took backpacks as luggage! It would not have been fun lugging a huge suitcase up the stairs!

A little explanation that the entrance to the staircase, and our accommodation, was actually in the wall of the Palace. A photograph of the entrance would have been very useful.

It was lovely to be within the walls of the Palace and explore the horrendously expensive shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and very pleasant.

The spiral staircase up to the third floor accommodation were treacherous and rickety. I believe they need attention along with the rope hand rail which is becoming detached in places. I was expecting the staircase but in better order. AVOID IF YOU HAVE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST MOBILITY ISSUES.

I really enjoyed my stay in Split — it honestly felt like home. The room was super cozy and I slept so well. Everything was just great. The location is a 10/10, and I loved the entrance with that old, historic vibe. The stairs and the whole atmosphere give the place such a unique charm. It really pulls you into the history of the city. Would definitely stay here again!

I loved this place -- located in a basically a turret of one of the gates of Diocletian's palace--the decor is modern but it's an extremely atmospheric location. Split was a real highlight of our 3 week European trip. Room was comfortable. Didn't meet the owner but her communications over whatsapp were incredibly helpful and her husband was there to let us in upon our late arrival on the train from Zagreb. Wish we'd stayed longer.

The location was the best part. It was the best decision I made! It was safe, clean, and everything I needed.

It was Ok for me, but the stairs would not be the best for others. I was warned about them so I knew they were steep. But that was the only thing and you can’t change that. Just be sure to hold the rope and go slow!
