We LOVED this hotel so much! It exceeded our expectations in just about every category. The location is perfection. It does not get better. The hotel boasts its own lake, mountain views on both sides, and quick hike or drive down to the village of Garmisch. Perched outside the village makes parking a breeze and gives you the atmospheric peace of the Bavarian Alps without actually being remote. My husband described the breakfast buffet as "Palatial." He said it ranks as one of the top three German breakfast experiences he's had. And he's lived in and traveled to Germany for 40 years. We were given a free upgrade on our room, which was such a delight! Two stories with the bedroom on the top floor and the bathroom and sitting area on the entry level. The room comes with a mini fridge for any goodies you pick up in the village and/or any breakfast items you bring back. We had our choice of two delicious restaurants on site. We didn't need reservations for either and were easily seated. The room's robes and flip-flops provided made for a true spa experience. Most importantly, the staff. THE STAFF! They were the greatest!! From our checkin (danke, Sarah) to our check out, they were the most friendly, considerate, and gracious hosts. When I said goodbye and that I really hope to be back soon to stay with them, I **sincerely** meant it. Not just for the room and board but for their company in making us feel like royalty-- no better, they made a couple of Americans feel like family. Danke schön!! We will be returning!

The only two suggestion I have are: 1) The rooms have no air-conditioning. Meaning that when the temperatures outside are up in 27 degree celsius range, it can get very hot and difficult to sleep at night in those heated conditions. While the provided fan was helpful, a little air-conditioning in future renovations might be suggested. 2) The rooms have no electronic tea kettle or coffee machine. That would be a nice touch for guests who wish to have a cup of caffeine in the morning or an herbal tea before bed at night.

Excellent facilities. The layout is a bit confusing, but the room is amazing. A living area plus a separate loft bedroom area - both with wall mounted TVs. Very comfortable bed, excellent shower, and all around a great experience.

Honestly, nothing. The parking is not ideal, but it's not horrible, either.

The location is WONDERFUL. we loved the lake and the surrounding area. The food was great, we should have booked including dinner, but they usually do allow you to join dinner buffet for paying on the day. There is also an a la carte option as well as the lake restaurant. Easy to rent bikes, we got e-mountainbikes for a day to cycle to Eibsee. Staff were extremely friendly throughout. We LOVED our time there!!!

Very hard to find anything negative at all. Perhaps additional parking spaces would be good, but that being said the one time we couldn't find one, they let us use the underground parking lot. Not sure why they don't offer that by default. At times the internet can be a tiny bit sketchy.

The hotel’s location is simply amazing. A walk around the small lake after breakfast or dinner is a real highlight. The breakfast selection is very diverse, with even vegan options available. The beds are soft and comfortable - our whole family slept really well! I would especially like to note the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help in any situation!

We stayed in a two-story room. Unfortunately, it was quite stuffy on the second floor at night, even with the door open and the temperature outside being 14°C. We had to use the fan provided by the hotel, but the noise from the fan was a bit disturbing.

Great location. Very nice room and super friendly staff. I like that the hotel towers over Garmisch and is not located in the middle of it. This gives a more quiet and remote vibe while still being very close to the city.

The (free) parking situation is somewhat iffy. The parking lot at the lake is shared with lake visitors and can get full quickly. Especially in the evenings you may have a problem finding a spot. The parking garage is a good alternative. Particularly frustrating is non electric cars using the electric charging spots for regular parking.

Check in was "crisp" (professional) befitting a four* hotel ... quick. Smiles help break the "ice." Check-out was also very efficient. Very pleasant conversation with F.O. (management level) reflects the "natural" interaction I enjoyed with front desk personnel. The oversized fireplace/lobby was very relaxing. Nice overlook of the city below and of the Zugspitze (when clear). Lots of extras around the facility (family history of the hotel, local historical items, etc.). The openness of the breakfast/dining room (lots of glass). Plenty of maps of the hotel to orient yourself when walking among the various buildings.

If you looked more closely as you walked through the hotel, you could see lack of attention to details (scuff marks, worn fixtures, etc.) in some hallways, doorways, etc. Too many doors to open/close as you navigate the facility. The views of the Zugspitze and city below are obstructed by other buildings. (But within outdoor walking range.)

We spent 2 nights at Riessersee Hotel and the hotel and room exceeded our expectations. Our maisonette apartment was lovely, very clean, the hotel very cosy with a lot of attention to detail. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the open fireplace in the evening and the spa and sauna area had everything we needed to make our stay relaxing. Many thanks to the receptionist Elena Pencheva who gave us a hearty welcome and looked after us from start to finish, she made our stay extra special!

We ate dinner in the restaurant and were disappointed by the quality of our meals from the a la carte menu and the all you can eat buffet. They were unfortunately lacking in flavour.

The location is fantastic, the lake and its views are absolutely stunning. The room was spacious and well-equipped. Despite it being very hot when we visited, we slept well with just a fan but that may have been due to the location of our room. Breakfast was good.

The lack of lift in our block, although it wasn’t an issue for us - we did help others who were struggling. We had the buffet dinner one night which was fine but rather short staffed in comparison to breakfast.

First of all the location of the hotel is top. There is a lake next to the hotel with a gorgeous view on the mountain Zugspitze. In general the area is really nice. The hotel is bigger than I expected, but I loved the atmosphere, the design of it and our room as well. There is a spa with a big swimming pool. The highlight was the food, our breakfast one of the best, a big variety of food, everything was fresh and delicious. The staff of the hotel is welcoming and friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were not only nice but also impeccably clean, making for a very comfortable experience. The location is fantastic, just a 20-minute walk to the city centre, offering scenic views along the way. The breakfast was a delightful start to each day, with a variety of delicious options to choose from. However, the absolute highlight of our stay was the spa. It featured three saunas and a steam room, providing a perfect place to relax and unwind. Overall, it was a memorable experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay.
