Loved the conversion from monastery to hotel. Very classy. Really liked opening the window to see the garden and there is no need for the fan when you can open the window wide. The bed was good and the bathroom was nice and clean. Over all a nice room in a good location out of the busy center but still in a great lively area. Close to the river and in an area full of nice shops and restaurants and cafes.

Only little things. The magnifying mirror in the bathroom was too high and too far away to use. Only one plug next to each side of bed, luckily we had extra connection sockets with us. Unfortunately we had little choice with our dates and there was a gaming convention in the city so this was the MOST expensive hotel room we have ever had! As such we couldn’t afford the breakfast too, but the room looked beautiful . I would go back under normal prices.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights. Extremely helpful and friendly staff on the desk. We were able to drop our luggage early,offered water and toilet facilities so we were able to comfortably go exploring the city before checking in that afternoon. Bed was very comfy and had excellent sleep during the stay. We can't comment on breakfast as we didn't have it, but the dining area for breakfast looked beautiful. The hotel is in a super location, just away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to all the sites. We walked everywhere in the city, but hotel is close to bus stops if you prefer. Only 30 minute walk to the Cathedral and Central train station - we visited Koblenz and Bruhl (Phantasia Land) by train. Cologne zoo and cable car are easy to reach via the local 18 train. And the Shokoladen museum is only about a 10 minute walk, well worth a visit and does delicious cakes and hot chocolate! Wouldn't hesitate to book the Hopper St Josef hotel again if we return to Cologne. Had a fantastic break!

The water from the shower does spill out onto the floor, we simply put the floor towel down but it does mean you are stepping out onto a wet floor. We stayed at the front of the property and there is a bar across the road open until late, we had the window open the first couple of nights so could hear some noise (you can't hear anything with the windows shut) but it didn't really bother us or disturb our sleep, it may be annoying if you are a light sleeper.

I loved my stay here! Although the hotel room was on the smaller side, it was so charming and beautiful. I loved all the hidden shelves and storage space. It was set up differently than usual hotels but that is what made it so unique. The staff were so nice, the lobby was beautiful, and the location was great. It is close to many shops and restaurants and there's a bus stop close by, if you don't want to walk 15 mins into the city.

As stated earlier, it was a small room, but I was only one person. Perhaps if you book for more than one person, it will be a bit uncomfortable.

St. Josef was the perfect, cozy stay for my work trip! Located in a beautiful area of the city (highly recommend checking out Haus Muller, the restaurant down the street), it was walking distance from the local train line and very close to the river. The room was clean and quiet, with a beautiful courtyard view. Highly recommend!

The breakfast was good (particularly the coffee) however there seemed to be some bees in the breakfast area. They also seemed to be enjoying the breakfast but I'd rather they did so outside. ;) The doors were left open for the breeze as my stay was in the summer, so their presence was understandable.

Absolutely fantastic establishment! I have nothing but praise for this hotel - from the reception, through the superb cleanliness, until the very little request you are treated truly like the most exquisite guest. Should I even mention the incredible premises of the convent that speak for themselves (incredibly atmospheric!). The hotel is newly renovated, superbly comfortable (even the smallest of rooms) and in a perfect location close to the city center of Cologne as well as the modern port area and Rhine. You won't want to stay anywhere else.

The only downside is the noise coming from the street and from the corridor. Also maybe the lack of curtains - jalousie windows didn't do the trick.

Breakfast in an enjoyable location with great quality food. All staff friendly and will go out of their way to support your stay.

Nothing - very comfortable stay with 24 hour reception to support you

Large single mattress was comfortable enough and the shower had a nice stone floor. The high ceilings made the room feel bigger than it was.

The lack of a safe in the room was odd. They also didn’t service my room. The desk was very rickety (it kind of folded down from the wall and was not well secured) so not suitable if you needed to work. Internet was fine of the first day but very patchy on the second day.

The hotel is located about 20 minutes walk away from the city centre in a pleasant neighbourhood. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast in the refectory of the original monastery.

The single room on the top floor - under the roof - was tiny, especially the bathroom. Since I'm small, I fitted but it might be inconvenient for a taller person. However, it was OK for one night.

The room on the ground floor to the street with largely white-covered windows. I know there are rooms that are much nicer there. But this time it was so. Maybe because the hotel was very well booked or fully booked and my booking was spontaneous from the same day. So therefore nothing to complain about. :-)

Nice location, in a quiet neighborhood, very well connected by public transport. The building is clean and welcoming and has the charm of an old structure. The room is clean and comfortable, particularly the mattress.

The room is a bit small for 2 people and there is only one chair. Duvets are very warm and that makes it necessary to sleep with an open window. The pillows are too big and soft (but this is a personal opinion). No small shower hose and the water jet is somewhat weak.
