Really pleased with location. About 20 mins (very steady walk) to Cathedral. Underground station situated within a couple of minutes from hotel if needed. A lot of bars, eateries and convenience stores also nearby. Whilst being quite a lively area, particularly on a Saturday night, the hotel is set way back from the main road so is really quiet. Really cool bar, as good as any of the others you'll find in the area. The staff are also super friendly. Great rooms, nice layout and clean. Nice little touch with the galleys on each floor, which provide an assortments of teas. Good choice at breakfast (food and drink) - continental style.

It's difficult to find much fault with Ruby Ella, however, I'd say 24 Euro for breakfast is a little on the expensive side.

The bed was absolutely to my standards. It has a good location and although it is situated on a busy road, the hotel is a few meters off the road. It is reachable within 20 minutes by foot from Cologne main train station. Air conditioning in the room since you cannot open the windows. USB sockets and wireless charging are provided in the room. Breakfast has a large variety of items to choose from. The hotel offers a choice of vegan items which look and taste delicious. Overnight oats and chia pudding are provided. Coffee and a selection of black tea and others. The bar is open 24/7. For check out: drop your room card in a box. No hassle, just the easy way to do it. The hotel also offers free tea in separate galleys on some floors. Staff is very friendly.

The only thing I did not like is that if you take the stairs you will be caught in the staircase, because you need the room card to open the doors from within. There does not seem to be any way to contact reception except to knock on the door until someone maybe hears it.

The check - in was flawless and quick. I think it was one of the best experiences I had just checking in, their app is user friendly and everything is on point. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and enjoy your stay. They provide you with recommendations around the area for good food and drinks. I personally loved that they had an option of either taking room service water/refreshments or free drinks. The room was quirky and spacious and the shower is the cherry on the top. We had a perfect girls staycation. I would highly recommend this hotel for the experience, area and the staff ❤️

There wasn't anything to not like about the hotel.

We stayed at the Ruby in Köln and we are very happy with our choice. The main reasons for rating so highly are: Great location - short walk into the Altstadt or literally a one minute train ride from the station nearby. Parking is perfect - easy to park outside in designated space whilst checking in, and then a nice spacious and secure parking space underground was allocated for our stay - this is super convenient. Friendly, cool hotel, great facilities, lovely quiet rooms - checking in was super easy and we immediately felt very comfortable and welcome. Our room was perfect - clean, comfortable and quiet - we had the best sleep! Breakfast - this was superb. Again, super friendly and attentive team, coffees were served quickly (and often) and are really good quality. The buffet is perfect - really nice selection (including vegetarian options for my wife) and exactly what we wanted. Checkout - also very efficient, simply dropping the key card into the box. I can't think of any suggestions for improvement, however wanted to add some details about why this is such a great hotel in Köln, we will definitely choose the Ruby next time we visit Köln and are already checking out other cities where you are located.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Yasmin noted that I was heading out the door and asked if I wanted cappuccino to go after breakfast, and Tim made sure I had everything I needed, including that important first coffee. Shout out also to Iros behind the bar, making sure I got a decent glass of wine and some great recommendations for going out at night. Thanks also to Joanna and Hamza, I felt very welcome!

When I come back next time I may ask for the top floor as someone above me was making a lot of noise my second morning there. The rest of the time it was completely quiet and I slept well though.

Delicious breakfast but a bit pricy. Delicious bread, in Germany never disappoints. They have amazing original cocktails and the personnel was really kind and attentive to my needs.

When walking barefoot in my room I felt the floor was slightly dusty. I normally travel with my flip-flops but this time I forgot them. I'm sure the cleanliness of the floor could be improved. Other than that, it was spotless. During breakfast, there were not many options for warm food like scrambled eggs, sausages, or omelets. And I was not able to use the parking or the charging stations. It was full when I arrived but yeah...it was a weekend so I guess the hotel was full.

Comfy and cozy bed and comforters for a chilly week in November! Breakfast was excellent. It is a buffet with a fine selection of high quality breads, cold cuts, hardboiled eggs and delicious condiments. Bar was inviting and privately set for a quiet evening. Employees were attentive and kind. Yasmin, Lenny, Manny and Iris were the employees we had the privilege to meet and who assisted us. We were able to leave our luggage with the hotel since we had arrived too early for check-in. There is a Taxi stop directly across the street and we chose to use it a couple of times.

We thought breakfast was a little costly but it was actually a better deal than searching out an establishment down the street. It is extremely popular(We went in too late on Sunday and the food was gone). It was Karnival weekend so we understood. One other thing we found at every hotel in the 5 German cities where we stayed-there is no small washcloth(The square ones) offered or available. In Frankfurt at the airport hotel they did have them.

Great location for getting around the city. The overall styling felt pretty cool and quirky, there was a room with an iron, vending machine, free coffee etc and we had some very nice and reasonably priced cocktails. And when we asked the staff for recommendations she took the time to write out a whole list of cafes, bars, restaurants etc which was very helpful and kind.

The shower door wasn't fitted well so the bathroom floor got soaked every time we showered, but that's a pretty minor thing in an otherwise very good stay!

The complimentary drink in the bar, the rooms were pleasant. Liked the bar and its vibe. Very comfortable beds. Very clean bedrooms. Easy heating controls, nice TV.

The Galley was useless. Couldn’t get hot water. Tea was vile. Appreciated the drinks/ snack machine. Put tea/coffee in the rooms please. Breakfast was our biggest problem. No-one greeted us or took our room numbers nor helped us to find a table for 3. Staff seemed busy but did not replenish the products on time so guests were constantly having to ask for cups, glasses, bowls, cofffee, eggs, croissants. It wasn’t a good vibe at all. Didn’t look like anyone was in charge directing operations. Need to sort this out as it was a major problem every morning. Food was good though.

The Ruby Ella has such a good vibe- the staff were very friendly and helpful. our room had everything we needed for 3 nights - we opted to have a free drink rather than our room cleaned. Shower was great (2 settings) there is a big mirror with lights, really good wardrobe space. Also, there were 2 duvets on the bed which was great ( very hard to find hotels that offer twin beds in cologne) The bar area is really nice and I really liked the huge variety for breakfast. The food is really good quality. The hotel is in the Belgian quarter and it’s my favourite area in cologne for food and drinks. The hotel is less than a 20min from the cathedral and main strain station I was so impressed with this hotel overall that I will be staying at their hotel in Munich next year
