Fantastic building with a stylish, well-thought-out design. The rooms are elegant and comfortable, with excellent beds, and good location. I knew it was a design hotel, but I was still surprised by how stunning it looked. The atmosphere is refined and cool, without feeling forced. Design hotels often sacrifice comfort or functionality for aesthetics — but here, everything comes together beautifully. Oh, and breakfast was good, too. Finally, a hotel that offers real, freshly baked rolls – not the reheated stuff you sadly find all too often in large hotels.

I found it slightly maddening that you can’t reserve a parking space in advance. The hotel does have parking – they’re just oddly committed to keeping it a walk-in lottery. You show up and hope for the best. I’m sure there’s a solidly German principle behind it – fairness, Ordnung, or a deep-seated distrust of privilege – but in practice, it’s just kind of annoying.

The location is perfect. Nestled within a quiet residential area & arts district, this boutique hotel is walkable to most museums and points of interest. Very quiet at night! The rooms are that same as what you'd expect at a Marriott but not air conditioned. Front desk is superb with easy checkin/checkout. They were also helpful in recommending close by restaurants and surrounding neighborhood history.

Needs air conditioning! Our room got stuffy when the temps outside were in the low 80s. There was a small fan available but, even with wide open windows, it took a while for the room to cool. Our son had a room on the 5th floor (attic rooms) and that room did have a small AC unit which worked out perfectly.

A gem of a hotel in the old city archive building. Architecturally fascinating as a rare survivor of 19th century gothic revival. Julia and Nicholas were so helpful and friendly, providing recommendations where to eat and places to explore. Recommendations were not too touristy with good food and drinks. Well priced bar at the hotel to enjoy a cold beer at the end of a busy day. Location was a ten minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof so close enough to enjoy the old town, but far enough to be quiet and peaceful in the evening. We had considered hotels on the river front, but when we investigated when in the city, we were pleased to be at the Qvest as others would possibly have been quite noisy at night. The location next to St Guerion Church was fantastic - oldest church in Europe dedicated in 350 CE and much of the Roman building remains. A real sense of continuity and history. Enjoyed the library on the first floor of the hotel. Have since bought copies of some of the books a read there. Artwork and furnishings all unique but suit the building. We will go back to Koln one day and this is where we hope to stay again.

The hotel was magnificent, clean, very beautiful with library and cosy sofas. You live like in the movie with gothic castle! In the room there is modern bathroom. Staff were extremely welcoming! Location in 15 min from railway station and Dom, a lot of restaurants with 4.8 nearby.

An elegant neo-Gothic building turned into a hotel with lots of atmosphere and a contemporary, designer vibe. It’s in a quiet square (which once had a cloister) right opposite one of the city’s gems, the Romanesque church of St Gereon, and just a ten minute walk from the cathedral. Right next door is a good, and stylish, Italian restaurant. My room was very comfortable, the staff are helpful and enthusiastic. The bar/breakfast room with its large windows is a particularly pleasant and relaxing space for a coffee after a hard day’s sightseeing.

The cupboard in my room seemed to be designed for tall people who travel with few clothes. The breakfast offer would benefit from more than one type of egg (boiled). But neither of these things would prevent me from returning!

Impressive building, very friendly staff, especially the lady at the reception upon arrival. room really clean, good shower, separate toilet, minibar. good location in between mediapark and city center, with public parking space close by.

not sure how it will be in summer, as there is no airconditioning, and we had a room at the top floor. it would be nice to have coffee facilities in the room, which is something simple but improves the overall experience. Breakfast was nice, but it is probably not sustainable to have 1 person having to serve coffee for all, and providing the set of charcuterie for all separately. Probably better to have a full buffet, ensure a coffee machine, and also provide some scrambled egg and bacon for example.

Location was excellent. Hotel is spotless..Food in La Fonda restaurant is expensive but excellent.

The rooms are most certainly NOT soundproof despite being advertised as such. Two single duvets on a double bed. Bar not staffed on a regular basis.

Aesthetic of the hotel and building itself is stunning. Restaurant is on the square and we had a fine meal there. It was very busy - book in advance.

Room was a little on the small side. Getting access late was problematic for us, luckily someone was available to help.

An absolutely beautiful hotel, the rooms are well appointed, super comfortable and only a 10 min walk from the Cathedral/Center. The staff were very friendly and made our stay a warm enjoyable one. We would come back without hesitation, loved it!

Nothing really, maybe a kettle in the room would be handy but didn’t affect us.

Despite the kindness and helpfulness of the receptionists, the image of Qvest would gain notoriety if the staff received a uniform. The rooms are spacious but with insufficient lighting. The bathrooms are tiny but nicely designed. Neither the kettle nor the television worked. The emergency number is...on the answering machine.
