Very happy with my room once I had upgraded (See comment below) The breakfast was lovely and an excellent selection. Perfect location as my granddaughter was getting married at Emmanuel College. The bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch too.

As I was travelling alone I booked a "Cosy Room". I was extremely disappointed when checking in to be told that the Cosy Room was so cosy it didn't have a window! I had no other choice but to upgrade at an extra cost. When I booked the room there was no mention about the room not having a window and I think you should make this very clear.

The room was very stylish and comfortable, well appointed and extremely clean. The staff at check in and the cleaning staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The location is superb to explore the city.

I thought the breakfast could have been better served, there were several food stations to help oneself with a random way to organise things. Both coffee and tea were very weak, we didn't drink either and I would have expected smoked salmon to be offered. The staff didn't clear things off the table so I did it myself as there was no space on our table. However staff were friendly, polite and smiley.

The location is conveniently central for exploring Cambridge town center, though it's a bit farther from the train station. The staff at reception were friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful, featuring a lovely library perfect for working or dining. Breakfast was delightful, and while the room was standard, it boasted nice decor, ample space, and good amenities. Overall, a pleasant experience!

Unfortunately, the housekeeping could use some attention. During my five-day stay, I noticed that the floors weren’t vacuumed regularly, and there was accumulated dust in the room. Given the price we paid, I expected more in terms of cleanliness. Aside from that, my overall experience was good. Just a bit more focus on housekeeping would elevate the stay!

Very welcoming and efficient staff on reception in the beautiful lobby, we had a nice room overlooking the park (as booked). The shower was great! Parker's Tavern is also beautifully restored with very good staff, a nice and varied menu and lovely bar. A great place to hang out and eat at the end of a long day. Location is good and only a few minutes to the centre of town. My husband used the gym and ran around Parker's Piece. It's pricey (as most hotels in Cambridge) but well worth it. We'll be staying there again.

The room was exceptional, very comfortable and had a touch of luxury. The ensuite bathroom and shower were spacious and very easy to use, and were also very luxurious. Having a dog friendly room was also a welcome option and our four-legged friend was made very welcome.

The breakfast was a little disappointing. The staff were clearly working very hard and all credit to them for dealing with the busy morning period on a Bank Holiday weekend. However, for the price paid, and the quality of everything else in the hotel, the cooked breakfast wasn't quite to the same standard. Bacon was undercooked and not great cuts and detracted from what was otherwise a very good offering. Orange juice from the buffet, which was otherwise a very good selection, tasted like it was from concentrate and was disappointing for a hotel which was otherwise excellent.

Room, decor

Breakfast was an absolute shambles. No eggs, no sausages, bacon was rock hard and beans were cold. It was a task to find cutlery like a teaspoon. No small plates for the toast. The orange juice urn ran out. I have had better breakfast experiences at back street cafes. Service in the resident's bar was a little slow. University Arms please address this. It might be a one-off occurance but for a hotel of such a high calibre this should not happen or at least be rectified within minutes. Careful consideration will be made before returning or recommending.

Hotel was lovely and in an excellent location. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very good. Clean and spacious.

Breakfast was terrible. Waited half hour for tea and had to request three times. My breakfast came after 45min wait and was cold. Sausage was undercooked when it arrived was advised they were too busy to cook mushrooms and may I add restaurant was only half filled . The Maitre'd was not very helpful and after speaking to her never apologised and still had to wait for drinks. Another breakfast came out which was warmer but not enjoyable and lacked any taste. The young waiter who originally took our order was pleasant but I feel had not been trained properly. I did complain at reception and this was dealt with efficiently and were very apologetic and discounted breakfast in full..

Staff were all professional but super friendly. Special mention to Charles on concierge. Brilliant location and the bar was a fabulous space to retire to following a very cold but enjoyable day of sightseeing. Will definitely return if ever back in Cambridge.

The chance that we may not have been fortunate to get one of the limited on site parking spaces - we lucked out (thank you Charles) but it isn’t guaranteed. The alternative is only 5 mins walk away, so not all bad.

We always enjoy staying at the University Arms but this time we decided to eat in Parker's Tavern and were not disappointed. We started with drinks in the bar accompanied by an excellent jazz band. It was a busy Saturday night and the atmosphere was very upbeat. There was a little confusion when we were called to dine but had to return to the bar for a further 20 mins as it turned out there was no table. We didn't mind at all, but were automatically given a round of drinks and pudding on the house. Fantastic hospitality. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and service was professional and friendly. Rooms are very appealing and comfortable with everything you need. Love the late check out on Sundays.

Only one small issue - there was a strong smell in the vestibule outside one of our rooms, as if the carpet had been washed but not aired. Needs some attention from management.

We really liked the ambience, created by smiley welcoming staff and lovely decor, and the log fire in the library. Breakfast was very good and dinner was superb. We were served by Neve, who was especially helpful and knowledgeable of the menu and assisted us with our choices. She filleted the Brill skillfully at the table for our friends, one of whom was celebrating a special birthday. We all really enjoyed our meals and the celebration was completed with glasses of bubbly all round and handmade truffles, perfect.

The room was very tastefully decorated and we loved the characterful bathroom with spacious shower. The bed was a good size but we found the mattress and pillows rather too firm for our taste.
