Beautiful property, very helpful staff and truest a dog friendly hotel. We stayed a night and immediately wanted to book another night. It’s very hard to find dog friendly hotels which 1) do not overcharge you for a pet, 2) that provide you with nice accommodation with a pet. This hotel provided a beautiful room for my husband and I’d anniversary which was dog friendly. I would recommend to anyone this hotel especially dog owners!

great location between the Loire and the chateau and easy to walk everywhere the hotel is arranged around a rear courtyard garden with tables and chairs which makes a really pleasant spot for relaxing, the loire is just over the road. the hotel also has an excellent restaurant but you must reserve in advance or you will be disappointed. there is convenient car parking at 15 euros per night or you can park opposite for free. there is a nice small swimming pool and a hot tub. it was our second stay here and we will return as there is so much to see and do in the town and the wider area. the staff are friendly and professional.

I love this hotel and have stayed here before some years ago. In the meantime, the hotel has had a makeover with all the elegance and charm you would expect. We have a home in the South of France but live in Ireland most of the time - in Kinsale on the South coast. We travel with our dog by ferry from Roscoff and Saumur is our first and last stop en route. In fact, we will stay there later this month on our way back to Ireland. We will stay in the same room as last time, as it is beautifully appointed overlooking the river. We met some fellow travellers and had some drinks in the evening in the sweet little bar, hosted by a charming Cork lady who is married to a Frenchman and they live nearby in a charming house surrounded by nature. We get a little more organised with each trip we take, and we have already made a reservation at L'Essentiel, the hotel's partner restaurant. Really looking forward to another great experience.

Nothing I can think of

Everyone and everything at the hotel made us feel so welcome! From the moment we arrived, we were looked after every step of the way. Even though we got there earlier than planned, they took great care of us. I was offered coffee and some pastries, and the lovely receptionist even gave me a swimsuit to use at the spa while we waited for our room. The view of the chateau from the spa was absolutely stunning, and our hotel room overlooked the river—simply incredible! Plus, the fresh fruit throughout our stay was such a thoughtful touch.

Amazing hotel. Staff were super friendly and recommended restaurants to us. They seemed very proud to work there having been a part of the refurb during COVID. Beautiful pool and setting in general overlooking the castle. Room was super comfy and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the cremant de Loire from the mini bar. Wish we were staying longer than one night. Great choice at breakfast.

Only slight improvement would be to have plastic glasses for pool drinks. Also the cost of the sauna seemed a little steep for only a short time slot. Clearing of tables at breakfast could be quicker.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. The location is stunning, and the renovation has been done with incredible taste and attention to detail. What truly made the experience exceptional was the warmth and care of the staff — they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special touch that stood out: they had dog treats and a bowl of water waiting for us upon arrival. That was a first, and it meant a lot. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Beautiful room, very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast. The lcoation was excellent - walking distance to the chateau and the town centre. Parking was easy.

No dislikes - all was good.

Great location, on the edge of the main hub of Saumur. We arranged parking with the hotel, but ended up not using as there were plenty of spaces directly outside. The hotel refunded the parking fee. The hotel is spotless throughout, we had an attic family room, which was perfect for us 2 adults 9yr, 12yr. Staff were all super helpful, and assisted us with best places suited to us to dine at. We went down to breakfast at 7.30, very well catered for. Was busy later on, but we sat alone.

A lovely stay with a comfortable bed. and a great nights sleep. Very pretty and beautifully decorated.. Plentiful breakfast with lots of nice ‘extras’ - orange press, bacon, scrambled/boiled eggs . View of the castle from the garden and small pool. Fabulous jacuzzi . Just a lively stay.

On arrival Shower wasn’t hanging properly however was fixed first thing in the morning and breakfast was free as compensation was appreciated. If you don’t want to pay the extra you can park on the road outside.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning town. Our room overlooked the Loire River. The bed was massive and extremely comfortable. Bathroom was exceptionally clean with a very nice shower. Can't fault the service and the onsite restaurant was equally amazing. Pool had a gorgeous view of the Chateau, although there were a few too many children during our stay for it to be relaxing...probably different when school is on or maybe later in the evening (we went for a swim in the middle of the day to be fair). Given that it was very hot at the time of our visit the air conditioning in our room was an absolute god send.

Breakfast, while very good, was also pricey. For the price of the rooms it would be nice to have a continental breakfast included. But anything else would just be nitpicking, we adored our stay and hope to be back again in future.
