the staff was amazing, the resort was super clean and the food we had was ok, it was hit and miss.

When booking this resort threw booking.com they offer a resort credit to book certain rooms. This is a false advertisement. I emailed the resort 2 separate times to ask what we would be using a credit on if its all-inclusive and was told the spa. I spent and xtra $800 on a ocean view to get a $800 credit on the spa and when there was told we can only get a discount of $30 off each massage. And the massages were anywhere from $120-$350 ea. Needless to say we were pissed that we spent an extra $800. No-way possible to use $800 credit on little discounts here and there. Not to mention we brought friends that did the same thing. 6 rooms total!!

This is one of my favorite resorts in Playa Car, have stayed at multiple resorts in Cancun & Playa Del Carmen as well as Playa Car, the staff is always friendly, courteous and very accommodating. They always help you with anything you may need or any issues you may have & help to resolve them or locate them for you. The food is always excellent, probably one of the best all inclusive resort’s I have been at, reminds me of amazing cruises I have been on. Chefs are excellent and the food is always delicious! It is both adult friendly and family friendly with children’s facilities and activities located on property. We did not take our children this time but plan on it next time.

The food was wonderful; the staff was very kind and accommodating. The pools were very nice. It was a pleasure not to have to "reserve" lounge chair in able to have a spot at the pool. Probably, the cleanest place we have ever stayed. We asked to change our original room because of a noise factor. They moved us to a more centrally located room. The bartenders that delivered drinks to the pool areas were sooo nice and friendly.

Oh, boy. I am 79 and have a problem with stairs. The fact that there was only 1 elevator from the main floor to the lower level was a real challenge for me. Lots of walking up and down stairs. The positive outcome, I didn't gain a pound despite having pina coladas every day by the pool. Oh, one more thing. The retractable accordian covers for the lounge area were almost impossible to move! My husband helped an elderly couple drag the cover across (as it was intended to shade the area). What a difficult process!!

Compact resort, simple layout, easy to navigate with overall friendly staff. The service was overall very efficient and staff was friendly trying to deliver everything asked for. However based on another Riu experience in Zanzibar, we expected this hotel to be a little more luxurious rather then an average 4star resort - I travel 80+ nights per Year. One thing that made our stay was the beach and there were enough chairs under the palms to lay under - first come first serve. Great minibar in the room though.

There was so much food on the buffet, but quality of ingredients and produce fairly low. Specialty restaurants were awful - the Italian had nothing to do with Italian, simply horrible quality food and execution. Mexican as well! The hotel had a strange odor to it, so did our suite - cheap materials used, the room simply smelled like plastic. The bathroom amenities were so cheap and horrible that we had to go out and buy our own - sorry, but this is something I truly do not expect to do when I pay 500+ USD per night, anywhere in the world. Bedding was so cheap, again it felt like sleeping in a 3 star hotel. And truly the entertainment quality copied the cheap feel of the hotel, just sad. So if you expected a little more luxury, this Riu is certainly not for you.

Beach location near the buildings, WiFi available everywhere, good food and multiple options. Nice to have full access to all RIU hotels in the vicinity. Walking in the neighborhood is safe and pleasant. Minibar in the room was always full. Free good quality alcohol available in the room.

The AC unit in the room has the worse position ever! The cold air is blowing nonstop to the people in bed and you will wake up with headaches. Add a simple plastic deflector and the problem will be solved! The Bathtub in middle of room is one of the worst design ever!! Not European, not American style, just a BAD idea! The steam gets into the entire room, no exhaust fan! Close the area with the bathtub and the 2 sinks and you will have a nice room! The night entertainment is a little poor. The animators put a lot of efforts but sometimes the talent is not there. Overpriced massage, even for people with money! Gym could get some newer machines. Give free transportation to and from the airport to all your guests, it will attract more guests!

Great staff, very comfortable and welcoming. Loved the pools and beach.

We liked the experience overall, great and friendly staff at all times. Facilities were excellent and clean and the beach area is really well organized, easy access to the water. The pianist, Felipe Mirafuentes, was fantastic!, one of our favourite times.

The night shows left us wanting more, definitely there is room for improvement, the mariachi show is good but on the land of the mariachi, it could be much better. The Michael Jackson show is outdated and the performance is ok, and finally the hotel should consider removing entirely the Diva show, very disappointing.

Excellent choice of restaurants and bar options, every type of variety and well presented. Service was exceptional as well and staff were switched on, friendly and informative. The pool areas were clean and well maintained and the evening entertainment was brilliant. We had a great time and couldn't recommend the property more.

There was a very mild smell in the bedroom which was a result of the curtains being pulled and from the a/c being on but this didn't bother us as we were out all day and it kept the room very comfortable when we checked in. The shower was excellent, great pressure given the size of the property.

The location is great, the facilities also very good and the staff was very helpful. In summary a great place to go with your family for a nice holiday.

The hotel should have a gift shop with the things that you buy when you forgot to take them like hats, sun cream etc. The food was plentiful but the quality was not outstanding even in the special restaurants, specially for the price of the holiday. We were a family and I wrote to the hotel many times asking them to have rooms in the same floor and eventually we managed a couple of days later but after a lot of talk with the front desk. What I did not like was that I was told that if I booked directly with the hotel they would be more flexible than booking through Booking.com

Everything. The location. The ease to roam about. The ability to visit other resorts.

I don’t not like that the wrist bands were not also key cards. I was locked out of my room and had to get used to putting the key into the switch for the lights.
