The management/staff of the hotel provide excellent customer service, recommendations, and are very helpful. The hotel is cleverly decorated and clean. Restaurants, stores, historical sites, museums, gardens, and the tourist visitor center are within walking distances. We walked from and to the train station with luggage, but it is a long walk and phone directions had us walking up and down lots of stairs and taking cobble stone streets on arrival, whereas on the return we made our own directions and went by the river most of the way and there were no stairs or bumpy roads to maneuver. Parc du Thabor is spectacular!! The fine arts museum is great! If you want amazingly good vegan croissants and pastries, coffee, and other grocery and essential items there is a wonderful store (currently called Vegestal) at 15 rue Hoche. Le Coucou Rennais is a fantastic organic and local restaurant!
We liked everything.

Having read the reviews before we booked, we expected Le Magic Hall to be characterful and quirky, and we certainly weren’t disappointed. The public area of the hotel is casual, fun and interesting. Our room was large, with an equally large en suite bathroom, and very well laid out. The bed was probably the most comfortable we experienced during our 2 week trip, and the situation of the hotel meant that it was blissfully quiet, despite being within easy reach of the centre of Rennes (which is an interesting and attractive city). All the staff that we met were friendly and helpful and overall the hotel provided good value for money. Breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate, so we went out for something in the mornings. Although the hotel doesn’t provide a dinner service as such, they will happily rustle up food for guests in the evening, and we were very grateful for this on our second (and final) evening, when it was pouring rain and we really didn’t want to have to go out and hunt for somewhere to eat - note, there isn’t much open in Rennes on a Monday evening! Quintin provided us with an enjoyable 2 course meal for a very reasonable price, accompanied by a bottle of extremely nice wine. Overall, we would be delighted to return to Le Magic Hall if we find ourselves in Rennes in the future.
Nothing.

Absolutely loved the communal area downstairs and all the quirky decor and music and film memorabilia. The band room really excited us as we both play in bands and both would love to come back with our band and have a weekend in Rennes jamming!
Everything is fab but if forced to pick one thing, it would be the flooring in our bedroom! Maybe it isn’t the same in all bedrooms as we went for the cheapest option in a bid to keep our costs down on a last minute weekend away without the baby! Something slightly softer underfoot wouldn’t go a miss - even just a couple of rugs or runners either side of the bed…

This is a unique hotel and staying was a special experience. We didn't eat there but the food always looked very good; we did have coffee and it was excellent. The room was delightful and having the toilet separate is a nice luxury. The bath products were of excellent quality, and I like their environmental considerations. Rennes is worth a visit but isn't a place I need to return to, but I would happily stay in Le Magic Hall if it were in another French city!
The only thing that is perhaps a little negative is that there's not much in the area surrounding it and it's a bit of a walk to the busier parts of the city. But it was very quiet, which is always a plus.

Our room was small but perfect. The bed was comfy with crisp white sheets. The communal areas were exciting and quirky. The friendly hosts invited us to stay for a gallery opening, but we had booked dinner out. They very kindly stored our bikes in the music studio. It might be a good idea to check that this would be possible when booking as there is only limited space. Breakfast was extraordinarily good. You could make your own pancakes. There were a huge variety of delicious goodies including creme caramel, pain perdu...( see photos) Good location

the decoration is beautiful -like a home out of a magazine. The staff was warm, helpful and very friendly. The room was amazing, lots of light and space, I tottally felt like home and not a hotel room. The location is good out of the old center of Rennes whitch is noisy and not so clean. I loved every part of the hotel. Breakfast is like home made and you can grab what you want. Very nice.
The price of breakfast was a little high.

Very cool and funky hotel with such nice staff! We liked the themes throughout the hotel and the ‘vibe’ was really chilled and friendly. Nice breakfast with lots of homemade food. The location was great, it was easy to get around the city by foot and there was plenty of options to park the car close by. The room was clean and light. Also, we absolutely loved the bed, we had a great night sleep.
The only thing that comes to mind is that the bathroom gets quite wet when using the shower since there is no door or shower curtain.

The staff were all excellent and were really courteous and did so with a smile. The hotel is cool, with funky art and the rooms well furnished but not over the top. Location is perfect.
Nothing to do with teh hotel, but we were in Rennes on teh hottest days of the year, and no building is geared for such heat.

So quirky, different, artistic and stylish. Very helpful and friendly staff . The chef cooks your dinner after discussing it with you, (we’re vegetarian and it was no problem) and it was delicious! The shower had excellent pressure, the bed was supercomfortable and we were allowed to store our bikes safely. It is a two minute walk into town.
We chose not to eat what looked a delicious breakfast as it was a set price of 14 euros which was too pricey for what we would have eaten. it would have been good to be able to have a cheaper smaller version available. But the earl grey tea was very nice!

Boutique and beautiful! So much attention to detail in every area of this unique hotel. Restaurant is trendy and intimate and the home cooked food was fab. Fantastic staff made our stay comfortable and relaxing, so helpful and welcoming! Very clean with all facilities on offer. Short walk to city centre - great location. Nice terrace area out front.
It’s practically perfect!!
