The mattress was a bit too firm.

Claudine, the owner of the B&B, was quite exceptional. Before we travelled to France Claudine responded to my message, through Booking .com about our arrival time and mode of transport. She said we were unlikely to get a taxi from the taxi rank at Saintes station for the short journey to her B&B so she arranged a taxi for us. Unfortunately the train that my wife and I were taking from Bordeaux to Saintes broke down and we didn't know when we were going to arrive in Saintes. Claudine cancelled the taxi and took her daughter's car to collect us from the station at 11pm. We had a similar issue at the end of the stay because it was a general holiday in France so again she took us back to the station. It would have been a 25minute walk with suitcases otherwise. The B&B is in the heart of the old town with lovely restaurants close by. There are plenty of things to do close by with the market, river cruise and ancient churches and amphitheatre. The room we had was very comfortable with a new en-suite. There was a portable air conditioning unit which was a little noisy but worked very well. Continental breakfast was on the terrace and quite adequate with fresh bread and fruit.

Taxi fares are quite steep. A twenty minute taxi ride cost £50

Quaint old fashioned comfort - welcoming host. Peaceful, no street noise, in the middle of the old district, easy walking distance to everything, good restaurants close by. A great day’s rest on my cycle from Scotland to Spain.

It was a great place to stay. Central location, brilliant facilities. We were warmly welcomed by our host who was so helpful. The room was great with good facilities. We would recommend it as a great place to stay

As like in the whole city, building is old and not so up to date

The property have a lovely eclectic feel, with some lovely decorative touches, which made you feel comfortable. The terrace garden was unique.

As an older visitor, access to the shower was not easy.

Right in the centre of town - very quirky house with lovely reception by the lady owner. Continental breakfast was very tasty

The location is excellent right in the centre of Saintes. The lady owner was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed including information on where to eat and things to see. There is secure safe storage for at least 2 bicycles. The continental breakfast was good with enough for hungry cyclists. We would choose this property again when travelling to Saintes.
