We stayed there because of the history of the place and to explore the abandoned resorts of Tskaltubo. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
There were plenty of miserable people about (not including the reception staff). It doesn't hurt to smile once in a while. I have no idea what I ate for breakfast....i copied the Russian lady in front of me and ended up with some porridge style stuff which I regret. I really regret. I'd rather chew nostril hair.

Location was perfect, but Dont like the linens of bed, it was very old and smells like it was not cleaned well, cant sleep comfortable becouse of it.

The location was fabulous, making it easy to explore the grounds and wider area if interested in the history of Tskaltubo. The staff were all fantastic - friendly and helpful, helping to create an absolutely unforgettable stay. For history enthusiasts the traces of the past are there, you just need to look a little closer. Kindness always wins! Having read previous reviews I was surprised to find that breakfast was tasty with a wide selection of food options. The bathroom was refurbished to a very high standard and the shower was great. The room was well equipped with slippers, dressing gowns, two mugs & two glasses (although no tea: coffee) and a kettle. There are two wonderful stray, black dogs (pictured) who seem to reside at legends, they may look scary to some but were gentle souls who joined us on long 5+ hour walks on multiple days.
I really enjoyed the stay, however, the images on the website are not a complete likeness. Legends Tskaltubo is visibly more run down than advertised although this wasn’t a problem for us. Small details were missed, for example, the fridge was not plugged in which would have been useful during our stay.

The building is a newly renovated old sanatorium, and you can completely feel the architecture of the 20th century. The territory is huge. It has breathtaking verandas and connecting hall. Our room had two divided bedrooms (paid just for two people). The pool is very comfortable, with 3 different depth and bar🍸 . The breakfast is fantastic. The dining hall is so esthetic. The location is great, the central park is just in front of the hotel.
I would like to have a better bed. The mattress itself is normal, but pillows are tiny and one per bed. The sleeping part is not fixated to the top of bed, nor to each other. It slides all the time. So you can't find a double bed and cosleep with your baby. Some details in the room need to be fixed. Only 30% of this huge territory is used. Other parts need more attention, and walking parts need reconstruction. The spa and wellness centre is more reabilitations than a relaxing point.

Loved the history of the place. Sanatorium for the former Russian Defence workers. Such an unique place. Part of the hotel still urbex. Great health massage. Good food. Big room. Great balcony. The place is just enourmous. Pine trees everywhere. Great pool. Magic place.
You could not order something to eat in the lobby. You could order a drink but the bartender was always missing. When arrived he was grumpy. When i was ill with fever i had to go out to the buffet in order get something to eat or drink and fell on the floor there with everyone watching. There is no room service, no phone, so dont get sick here. And the matrasses are a bit hard, and AC not optimum.

Extraordinary hotel in the amazing ghost town of Tskaltubo. Huge recommendation to stay here, and this is why; if you come to Tskaltubo to see the former Soviet sanatoria, this hotel is a must stay, as it is the only place where the past is brought back to life in a great way. Rooms breathe the sanatorium vibe. Decorations are in original state and so is the furniture. Rooms are comfortable and the owner is very eager and enthusiastic to tell you more about the hotel, it’s history and may even be willing to give you some peeks in parts of the complex that are still in original(!) state. I have read some negative reviews here too. Do not go here if you think the buffet is some Turkish riviera all-in-resort. It’s not and it does not want to be. Don’t go if you want the most luxurious hotel on the planet. It’s not the purpose of the place. Do not go if you don’t want to understand that the furniture is actually dating back from Soviet era and that you are actually having the opportunity to sleep in a time capsule.
It’s not a resort (yet) with all inclusive concept and full spa facilities. If you are looking for 2 saunas and a hot tub, go elsewhere. But if you are interested in this country, the sanatoria and want a super authentic and unique stay, go here.

The pool was fantastic. We loved looking at the Soviet theatre and the gardens were also lovely. We especially liked the glasshouse gallery/ walkway between the hotel and restaurant. We really liked the woodland setting and proximity to the park.
I have an allergy to gluten in wheat. The breakfasts were good but I was not sure what was safe for me to eat. But there was lots of things to choose from. The dinner we did not enjoy so much. The other thing that surprised us was there was only one Georgian wine available and the lobby bar was not open for drinks before dinner.

We loved the unique experience of staying a few days in an old majestic Sovjet sanatorium. The building looks really great and we loved the tour around the building that we got. The staff was also very helpful with supporting us planning our next stops on our travel. Also the room was very spacious and great breakfast.
Even though we loved our stay here, we do understand that a few people gave less good ratings since the website, photos, and videos can give a different expectation. Don't expect a luxurious spa resort. But then again, is it realistic to get that at this price level?

Very authentic and unique vibe, dated furniture and building, which adds to it. High quality soap and shampoo that smelled very nice. Has outdoor pool. Close to a bath house, cafes and town hall.
I do wish the water at the pool was heated to 20 degrees C at least. Expensive dinner and lunch for georgia. Normally at a cafe lunch/dinner are 15-20 lari per person, while its 35-40 lari. If it were 30 lari we wouldnt bother going to a cafe and wouldve eaten at the property.

This is a former sanatorium of the Soviet Armed Forces I understood, only a part of which has been modernised and is now used as a hotel. The rest stands as pretty untouched in time from the end of the 1980s, and it is worth visiting just to get a flavour of that and walk around its buildings and grounds. Most visitors to Tsalktubo are there to look around the ruins of the Soviet time in Georgia, and this hotel is a very good place to start.
As only part of the sanatorium has been modernised, facilities are a bit limited, with no cafe for instance open when the restaurant is closed.
