The breakfast service was of high standard. The selection was consistently fresh and well-presented, with a wide variety of options to cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. Service staff were attentive and proactive, promptly replenishing any items that ran low with replacements. This ensured that the buffet remained abundant, visually appealing, and of consistently high quality throughout the entire breakfast period. It was my husband’s birthday, and I had requested the service staff to arrange for a small cake to be placed on our breakfast table. To my delight, they went above and beyond by also decorating the table with balloons and placing a lit candle on the cake, creating a warm and memorable surprise.
There was nothing to dislike :)

We had two nights at the Hotel Am Marschiertor and it was a fabulous location within easy walking access of the old city. We had a spacious room on floor 4 although it was bakingly hot, until we worked out the portable AC unit needed water! The wifi was good, there was a decent desk for work and the shower was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast had plenty of options and was a great start to the day The hotel was 10 mins walk to the cathedral, straight down the road so it was easy to navigate! Decor was a little dated but it was clean, well organised and a pleasant and good value stay.

Hotel am Marschiertor is only 5 minutes’ walk from Aachen main railway station. Our two rooms - one triple, one single, on the fourth floor - were spacious, clean and comfortable with a good shower room and plenty of storage space. The triple even had a balcony. Reception staff were very helpful: they gave us advice on sightseeing and eating out. Breakfast was excellent. We would certainly return.
We were not disappointed in anything. Some people might describe the hotel as slightly old fashioned, but it suited us. The lift goes only to the third floor, you have to walk up from there to the fourth. No problem for us, but could conceivably be awkward for guests with mobility issues.

The breakfast was really good and I liked the choices of ham and cheese., the coffee was reallly nice. The room was very clean and comfortable the shower was really nice. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble
I don’t really have any complaints but it would be nice if there was a kettle provided in the room. It would be nice if there was better signage from the railway station to the hotel. The lighting in the area could be better but it is safe. I would be mindful near the station as there are beggars as you go inside the station

Clean, comfortable rooms, a couple blocks from the train station and about 10 minutes from the old town. Wonderful breakfast and spacious bathroom. Cool to be right next to the old city gate.
No air conditioning, and our room faced a loud street. Once the weather cooled a bit this was less of an issue. Note that their information says “laundry service” but they mean towels, not your clothes. Was a little confusing, but we found a laundromat in town.

Excellent value for money and very close to the station. Breakfast is excellent and great value being included in the price. Our room on the 3rd floor had been renovated Andy was freshly decorated. This was a return visit for us at the end of our holiday. It was a handy place for the first and last nights of our Interrail holiday after and before Eurostar trips. We will definitely return.
This is more of a suggestion than a dislike - it would just be the icing on the cake if the room had a kettle with tea/coffee making facilities.

Friendly staff at reception. Clean, spacious room with comfortable bed and pillows. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options. The hotel is close to the train station where we parked our car for 10 euros for an overnight stay. From the hotel, it's about a 15 minute walk into the old city centre where we enjoyed the fabulous Christmas market.

Old-school little independent hotel about a 5-minute walk from Aachen's Hauptbahnhof that was a delightful surprise. The free breakfast is superb- fresh breads, quality meats and cheeses, freshly-squeezed orange juice that you prepare yourself, good coffee. My room was comfy, with a decent bed and big, BIG operable windows. Impressive array of TV channels in many languages. Excellent shower with amazing water pressure. Very friendly, helpful staff. Quiet!!
The property is a bit run-down with peeling wallpaper and funky sloping hallways, but I'd say that's character. I loved it.

The hotel's location is good, not far from the city center, close to the train station, and not a bad neighborhood. There is a closed room for bicycles. The room was very clean; the heating worked perfectly, which is important after a long cold day outside. For breakfast a variety of bread, cheese and dishes is served; guests can also make fresh orange juice by themselves.
Some of the rooms face the street, and then it can be quite loud in the evening and morning.

Close to the train station. Very friendly staff. Excellent selection of cheeses, meats, and rolls for breakfast. Less than 1km to the town centre. They don't do meals, apart from breakfast, but that wasn't a problem.
It would have been nice to have more pillows. I personally prefer a nice firm pillow(s). It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room, but that appears to be a common thing I have noticed over the years in German hotels, but again, it's not a great deal.
