Hotel Hammersbach continues to be outstanding. We last visited 8 years ago in winter - this time in a summer heatwave. The hotel has several separate buildings with different styles and prices according to facilities. Our room was in Haus Wedenfels which is opposite the main hotel and is linked by an underground passage. The underground area includes a pool, sauna, hairdresser, wellness centre, ski-room and a bar. A free travel card for local transport was provided on arrival. At the rear of the hotel is a railway halt for trains to the Zugspitze - Germany's highest mountain. This connects with a cog railway and a cable car to take one to the mountain summit. There is (paid) car parking including an underground park for an extra charge. The room was big, immaculate and had a balcony. It had an excellent ensuite with shower. There was ample storage, a sitting area and desk. The hotel has two restaurants - Kreuzech Restaurant and the Baurnstube. Both can serve a la carte or buffet meals, the latter being more cozy and intimate. Our waitress, Hadeer, was a shining light in the Baurnstube - always smiling, helpful with any language difficulties, efficient and quick. A real asset to the hotel! Every building was colourful with beautiful window boxes.

Visiting in a heatwave would have been more comfortable with airconditioning in the accommodation buildings which would have justified the accommodation price.

Location can’t be beat and the staff is always friendly. Room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The Zugspitzbahn stop and a bus stop are steps away from the hotel grounds, making it easy to visit Eibsee as well as downtown Garmisch. Plenty of parking (and large enough for US size vehicles). This is also the starting point for the Hollentallklamm hiking trail. The food here is excellent!

We had a gorgeous view from our spacious room. Only downside was that lack of a stand-up shower. We’ve stayed here before in other rooms with traditional showers so this is not the norm.

Perfect holiday, room has mountain view, snow was super, mulked wine near fire was excellent. Room was very good tempereture,indoor pool was amazing. Breakfast were very delicious. We tried open buffet dinner and alacarte dinner. Both of them were very delicious. Hotel is very near to train station and bus stop but there is not any noise. We went to ski lift with train. You can rent ski equepment from hotel. We found trainer for ski from hotels. Hotel gace free ticket for train or bus. At the and they gaved us naturel mountain salt as a gift.

Loved the property, the view, everything was accessible with the bus/ train as the stop was right outside. The staff was accommodating to our request. Couple of things we thought could be better: 1. There was a separate charge for parking 2. It was difficult to explore the property with the stroller as there were stairs here and there. 3. The breakfast was a great spread, but nothing was refilled.. on day 1 we reached for breakfast at 9:30.. all egg items were finished apart from other things.

location is beautiful very near the entrances of many trails; breakfast was pretty good with variety of foods; bed was comfortable; pool was very good

the only thing that could be improved is the blackout at the windows, our room was very clear early in the morning - and also, because of the noise of the train maybe a better noise isolation could be cool

The hotel is located at the start of the Höllentalklamm which was perfect for us. Hotel staff were friendly. Breakfast had everything you needed to start your day. I like that the ‘big ticket’ items like eggs, were made fresh and in front of you. They also have an underground tunnel connecting the two buildings so you have to walk outside of there’s bad weather.

The negative thing I would say about the hotel is the room looks dated. The red carpet needs to go, it ages the building. It would of been nice to have a little refrigerator in the room.

I was charged a higher price at check out than what was offered on Booking.com. The price on booking.com when I made the reservation was 133.50/ night. I was charged 142.80/ night. Also, was told by 2 receptionists that it would be no problem to complete my VAT form, but then at check out I was told they could not complete it as it’s “too much paperwork” With the price difference and the tax for both rooms we paid €32.60 more than I was expecting.

Breakfast was very good with wide selection and very delicious. The room was very big (we selected the superior room) with wonderful view to the woods. All the hotel’s facilities are well maintained and clean and staff is very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is not located in a crowd area, and it’s too pity to request parking fee of 10 euro per day. Additionally, although the room was very clean, its facilities are fairly basic (at least for a 4-start hotel) and final touch is missing.

This was perhaps the best hotel experience I've had in my life. The location, the staff, the food, the facilities on the property were all top notch. When I think of what staying at a hotel should be like, this is the experience I think of. Probably the most memorable thing was when my girlfriend and I stayed a bit too long in the dining room after dinner and the desserts had already been taken away; when we inquired if, by chance, there was any tiramisu left, the server came back with the entire tray of what was left of the tiramisu and let us eat as much as we wanted (since it would be on its way to the garbage anyways). I started looking forward to my return to this place before I had even checked out.

Honestly, nothing. Even the weather, which was quite unpredictable, was something to be experienced; in the course of three days, I saw a full year of seasons. Though, even then, the weather could not obscure the beauty of the scenery. When the weather was nice, my girlfriend and I went out to visit the nearby towns; when the weather was snowy or rainy, my girlfriend and I stayed in and had just as nice of a time due to the facilities available.

Great self contained resort location with restaurants, pool, bar, etc at hotel. It’s located in a suburb of the main town but close access to a dedicated train line to town and local outdoor destinations - train/transit passes included
