We only stayed for one night but were pleasantly surprised by the comfort level of the accommodation. Spacious room, big comfortable bed, balcony, fridge, electric kette and coffee machine (that unfortunately didn't work - needed descaling). Check-out option till 11 am was great. Even though we were offered custom time for breakfast beforehand as we were hoping to have breakfast closer to the later check-out time, that wasn't possible in the end but we were at least allowed to take the breakfast to our room and finish it after the dining room closed. We arrived on Thursday when the whole place was closed and we appreciated that the staff was available on whatsapp.

No option to get coffee between the time breakfast closes at 9:30 and check-out at 11:00 due to unmaintained coffee machine in the room. There was electric kettle in the room but without instant coffee that wasn't much of a help.

Everything was fantastic - self-check-in at night was easy, the room was super spacious and comfortable, the coffee machine in the room was ideal, and breakfast had lots of delicious options! We chose to stay here to visit Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles in the morning, and they were just a short 15-minute drive away, with a lovely drive through the countryside on the way!

My only tiny complaint was that because reception wasn't staffed at night when we arrived or in the morning during breakfast/check out, I was unable to get change for the city tax we had to pay (we had only arrived in Germany the night before and only had notes). But everything else more than made up for a few Euros, of course!

Served the intended purpose of a short overnight stay very well. Great location not far from the Tegelbergbahn and Neuschwanstein. The no-contact chec-in (keys left in an envelope at reception) worked well for us. Great breakfast including the option of fresh-cooked eggs.

The second room in our two-room unit had a broken skylight (or broken skylight blind), and the blind was fixed shut and 'broken' sign attached. As it was the only source of natural light in the room, that room was dim. Not a big issue for just the few hours our kids were watching TV in the room but might be an issue for longer stays if not fixed. There was also a low-level hum/vibration that ran approximately the hours of the restaurant dinner service (5-9pm or so, so problably related to the kitchen hood fan or something); it turned off before we went to bed, but we were starting to wonder as the clock was approaching 9pm. Both minor issues and likely not a concern for most guests, but worth mentioning.

Spotlessly clean, and very well appointed. The staff / owner are lovely. The room was spacious and very well equipped. The outside space was a bonus. We were initially concerned that there might be traffic noise, but heard nothing. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection, which was all very tasty.

The service at the adjoining restaurant was appalling, but this is nothing to do with the hotel.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alpchalet Schwanstein. After a long drive it was just what we needed. The staff were very helpful and great with communication for our arrival and they left the key for us as we arrived late. The hotel is very well maintained and cared for with lots of lovely decors. We arrived in the dark so we didn’t realise what a picturesque area it’s set in. After a comfortable nights stay (though the pillows really need changed to something firmer!) we were greeted by a lovely sunrise and great views from our balcony of the surrounding area and mountains. It really was nice. Breakfast was a highlight with clearly some thought and skill put into it to bring it a touch above what many similar places would offer with very very good pastries. A cosy dining room and really friendly staff plus lots of tasty things on offer plus eggs cooked as you like, set us up for the day. The manager and all staff were very friendly and easy to speak to, clearly a nice environment that they all seemed happy. Thanks for a great stay and great job!

Pillows need to be firmer. It was too thin.

Breakfast is great, lot of choices, we had a BIG breakfast. The window view is great. The house locates along side of the street, no higher building to hide the sky view. So we can have a great sunset in the balcony of the room. The apartment is spacious and suitable for group travelers. Lastly, it closes to the New Swan Castle and several lakes nearby.

no, at the moment.

The communication with the host family prior to our arrival was prompt and professional. The facility is in a great location and impeccably clean. Our room for 3 was quiet, very spacious, with a beautiful balcony and a great view of the mountains - and good beds! Breakfast was outstanding: the buffet offered an amazing variety of beautifully displayed delicate, fresh dishes, including even smoked salmon and made-to-order eggs, and was regularly replenished - and great coffee! It reminded us of a cruising experience on a fine ship. Although the hotel was full we never had to wait for a table.

Our two-night stay could not have been more perfect! A minor thing that confused us a bit in finding the hotel is that the "town" of Halblech" consists of three well-separated communities ("Ortsteile") clustered about half a kilometer apart from each-other along the major highway from Schwangau, each with its own stores, hotels, etc. These are named "Buching", "Halblech", and "Trauchgau". Strangely, although the hotel is located in the town of Halblech, it is really in the community of Buching. It would be useful to indicate this on the hotel's website.

If your intention is to spend time in the area, visit the castles, and you travel by car, then, Halblech is the perfect spot for few days. The prices are by far more affordable than in Schwangau or Fussen and it's more picturesque. The Aplchalet is a gem, very clean, large room, with balcony (which overlooked the street, but, due to very good soundproof windows, the traffic noise was not a problem), breakfast is varied, I am a vegetarian and I mostly enjoyed fresh fruit and vegetable. Free parking space. Adjoining the chalet, there is a nice restaurant. All my thanks go to Ms Lian who was very helpful and attentive to my needs (she provided me with an extra blanket, because for me it was rather cold), my husband and I felt like home, and we appreciate her hospitality. We rented some bicycles for the day (30 euros electric, 14 euros classical), which was a good idea to travel to and back from the castles, left them securely locked in a bike parking, free of charge, and save time. By car, it's nightmare to reach any parking near the castle.

Beautiful little hotel, comfortable rooms for a very reasonable rate. Nice little balconies. Delicious breakfast included! Helpful and friendly staff. We didn’t arrive in time for dinner but the menu looked good.

Our family of 6 needed two rooms (not a problem), but one of the rooms smelled like cigarette smoke.

Great location with large car park and views of surrounding countryside. Comfortable room with balcony, armchairs and modern bathroom. Extensive breakfast choices. Friendly staff.

We would have appreciated a clear communication that the restaurant was closed on Thursdays as this was the only day we stayed.
