The location was excellent. It felt kind of pricey, but the location really does make up for it. The train/bus station is less than a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Right behind the hotel is a nice historic area, which was being setup for a Christmas market when we were there. There were some good restaurants close by, including a good Döner and a good Persian restaurant. The breakfast was a very solid one with both cold offerings (like cold cuts and cheeses and Müsli) as well as hot offerings (scrambled and boiled eggs and bacon), if again it felt a bit pricey at €20, this appears to just be the cost of hotel breakfasts these days. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows. We asked for extras and got them straight away. The rooms are newly renovated and have a small desk and lounge chair, which was very comfortable, though a love seat or couch might have been nicer to have. I think this room is best suited to a single person or maybe couple who are just spending a few days in Essen. If you plan to stay for a week or more, you might prefer a few more amenities than are offered in this room (e.g. coffee maker or kettle, mini-fridge, or a bigger seating area).

I'm not sure why, but the bathroom light was on a motion sensor. I didn't appreciate this, especially trying to sneak into the bathroom in the middle of the night without waking my husband. Otherwise, we were very happy with our stay.

Lovely large rooms, modern and clean. The staff were extremely helpful and we looked at several rooms to find the best for me. They also managed to find a stool for the shower for me.

Facilities for disabled customers fell a little short. Aid for getting up from toilet on one side only. There were no hand holds in the shower except the water mixer and that was very hot. Air conditioning in some rooms and not in others. I was provided with a floor fan as temperature was 31C outside. There is no parking on site and the nearest car park is quite a distance away and expensive! Not easy when you are disabled and travelling alone.

Used the hotel as a base for Euro 24 football. 2 minutes walk from a rail station and offered much better value than hotels in Dortmund. Large room, very clean. There are bars and restaurants close by in the main shopping street. 10-15 minute walk to the river. I was given a free breakfast as a "Genius" member without even asking, unlike another hotel I stayed at in central Essen.

Nothing at all which affected my stay. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice. There's nobody on reception after 1900 so you have to collect your room key from the care home opposite reception. This worked fine, but was slightly confusing at first.

I liked everything. The windows could be opened, the bathroom was very spacious, the shower was wonderful, the TV worked, lot of storage space, free umbrella, decent breakfast, free wifi. No mini bar but on the ground floor was a room with all desired beverages and snacks. Very close to train and busses.

WiFi did not allow for WhatsUp calls. Parking quite difficult.

Lovely hotel in a good location, close to the tram line which goes to Essen. Next to a shopping mall with restaurants and other places to eat. The room was very clean and comfortable and l slept well. Breakfast was very good value and excellent.

The hotel was beautifully designed and spotlessly clean. The size of the room is huge, compared to European standards. The lady at the front desk is extremely kind and helpful. The location is good, in a lush green and quite neighbourhood but also very close to the metro station.

Location and room size was perfect. Clean and comfortable. Kind staff.

If there was air conditioner, it would be much better.
