Stayed here for the Taylor Swift concert. The hotel has a great vibe. As well as being well located for what we needed, it was clean comfortable and smart. But by far the best thing about this hotel was the bar staff who worked the evening shift. We had so much fun with these guys and they made us laugh, feel welcome, and just generally great. Their service was first class and it made coming back each night a total joy. We didn’t catch their names but hope management reads this as they really made our stay so fantastic! Thanks so much from the Brits who ordered all the wine!! Xx

Air con could have been better for some very hot days

City centre hotel, easy to find within walking distance of the railway station. About 30-40 minutes by train from Düsseldorf Airport and 10 minutes on the U-Bahn to Messe Essen. Motel One quality as expected, so no surprises!

Room was really hot and stuffy when I arrived, as the power is off to the rooms when you are not there so the air conditioning is not running. Windows do not stay open either. Took a good hour before it was comfortable.

Very nice and clean. Great air conditioning so it was always nice and cool even in the hot summer. Location was good with easy access to the main station and plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. It also seemed really quiet, I never heard anyone in the hallway.

The breakfast was really disappointing. Almost 17€ and it was just a continental breakfast. The only “warm” option was some hard boiled eggs. Absolutely not worth it in my opinion. You’re better off getting something from a bakery or going out to eat.

The Motel One hotel chain was an eye-opener for us: you can always expect a certain level of comfort and a good price. The design of the hotel is very original, pleasing to the eye. Clean and best central location. It is certainly a hotel, not a motel!

The room is certainly small, not too comfortable for staying longer than two or three nights. The bed and pillows did not suit us in terms of comfort, although this does not happen often.

Everything was fantastic apart from one slightly rude member of the bar staff who behaved like he was in charge, but in actual fact he was a trainee. This didn’t distract from my overall experience though as the manager said she was going to have a word and I trust that she did. I’ll find out whether it’s worked when I go back there!

Good location, very friendly staff, nice lounge area, clean rooms, firm mattress, good shower. It was quiet, the rooms are well insulated.

Only public parking available, 13 euro per day at the parking garage close by. There was an event on the square in front of the hotel, that was very loud, also in the hotel room. Luckily didn't last long into the evening. There were two paper cups available, but both leaked immediately.

Great sized room with tasteful decor and big windows out to the city centre, we loved the comfy bed, sound-proofing, and having a desk in the room. The location is at a very touristy city square, so not many good food options nearby unfortunately but we were happy to enjoy the hotel breakfast in the spacious lounge and bar areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again!

Nothing really, this met the Motel One standards and we were happy with our stay!

Just everything. From the location, to the friendly and welcoming staff, to the comfort of the room. I had also placed a preference for the room selection and they accommodated it no questions asked. Breakfast is great and rooms are super comfy, as you would expect from Motel One. Also, I particularly liked the fact that the rooms are very well isolated so you can get a sound sleep without being woken up by noises around you. Highly recommended!

The bed was literally the highlight . Extremely comfy. The position of the hotel is super central. Close to caffes, restaurants, shops . The rail station just a 5 min walking. Super friendly stuff. Smooth check in. We arrived at 11:00 and they managed to give us a room earlier which was great

I think it’s a thing of personal taste , but I will not choose to have breakfast at the property again. Not a great value for money.

Even after the Christmas market closed there was a little bit of what sounded like machine noise. This eventually stopped and I assume it was something to do with the Christmas market. (The flip side of that is that you get all the benefits of having the Christmas market just outside the door.)
