The staff was very nice, the room looked good and the bed was comfortable. There was more than enough space to work with a laptop. The location is great, the hotel is right in the city center. Good breakfast

The room had quite a strong old smell. And the toilet could use a seat change (it was not dirty, but rather old). Also, either the walls are not too thick or the guy in the next room was snoring way too loud (I'm not counting this too much, but for sure it was not pleasant, just have ear plugs with you). The staff was also nice and understanding in this in this situation (I asked if they had earplugs) even though they couldn't help much. No problems with outside noise. The Wi-Fi was disconnecting or very weak sometimes (more in the night; I could work during the day)

Very central location! Breakfast also very good and it was open until late for us who likes to sleep a bit longer. Personal was nice.

The security of the hotel didn’t feel that good. Another part of the hotel is on the other side of the street, and anyone could go up there without anyone really controlling it. Also the key system could have been a bit more modern and safer. On the wall on the side of my bed it was very visible that something wet has been running down the wall. Nasty!

Perfect location: 15 mins walk to Hbf (Central Railway Station). Note: downhill from the station and the other way from the hotel to the station. Multiple other ways of transportation available around the place. In the unions-lockdown country with every store closed -- imagine that! -- around 8 p.m. or so one would have a couple of oriental joints until midnight or even later just a couple of steps off the hotel. Meaning: a late traveler would not starve. Excellent price for money ratio. My second stay here.

Beware, o traveler: WiFi basically unavailable on the 3rd floor (or the 2nd, if the lowest is the ground-floor, -- the Erdgeschoss in local parlance); and even the next from the ground provides really good WiFi. Yet, it does work in the lobby. Some kind of consolation, yet definitely inconvenient. Hey guys hotel management, visit an electronics store and just buy a better router, or a bunch of them for each and every floor! -- Cheapest room size apart (fair enough, it's the cheapest one, a normal human coffin-sized, multiplied roughly by 2), this is my main criticism of the place. -- That said, I did return and stayed in the hotel second time straight within a year.

wifi always worked (you just need to click on the registration button which appear once you attempt to be online - i.e. the same system like the one in the public trains or buses), delicious breakfast was served from 6:30 to 10:30, reception is opened 24h, a machine for preparing tea and coffee available whole day (with little fee - 1 or 2 Euro), hotel service included changing towels and bed linen on daily basis (if one dislikes it, please ask at the reception)

just detail - once it happened that I asked in the morning at reception (I missed the relevant label for my door) to NOT change my towels and bed linen that particular day (for saving our environment and all the water resources etc) and still they did it - so please it is absolutely not needed to wash my towel and bed linen every day.

Great location, good price. Staff was nice even though many could not speak English. Nice breakfast.

The room was not completely cleaned when we arrived. They left some socks from previous guests. Toilet brush was dirty. They allow people to smoke just in the front door of the hotel.

Breakfast was good, fresh ingredients, only coffee too bland. The location very central easy access to transport, restaurants and cafés.

Weather was very hot and the room quite small, a fan could have been good as there is no airco at all in this property. Window must stay open, but then you hear the noise from street very clearly.

Great location in the Centre but no noise. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast Is excellent for only €12. My room was perfectly functional and the shower amazing!

No lift but it was no problem for me

Very friendly and heloful staff in a very clean and comfortable hotel in the heart of Essen. The room was quite small but adequate for my need. Good hotvshower and excellent breakfast.

Nothing to dislike

Staff was very responsive when assistance or questions were addressed. Although a medium-size hotel, everything was comfortable and cleaned. Breakfast was served on time and several options were served during the time I spent there.

A warm welcome from a pleasant and intelligent lady at the reception, nice to talk with. The hotel is old but renewed, with excellent bed and breakfast. The breakfast lady did her utmost to explain 'the concept'. Though the room was small, the bed had a good size/length.

In 1-pers-room the bathroom was a little small and low.
