If you're reading the reviews just as I was before we stayed at Sparta Team Hotel, then don't be put off. We were slightly skeptical after reading some questionable reviews, but the hotel far exceeded our expectations; there were no bedbugs, no smoke in the room and the elevator was not loud. We stayed in the superior double room with private bathroom, so can't speak for the dorm rooms, but it was fabulous - the room was a great size, clean and had a balcony (even though it said it didn't come with one). We stayed for a week and would definitely stay again as it was such good value for money; the staff were lovely and very helpful, resolving any issues/queries we had quickly.

The only aspect that some people may not appreciate is the area, as the street that the hotel is on is slightly removed and there are some men who do just sit around doing nothing, but we never had any issues with them. For us, the location was fab as it is right next to Psiri, which is a very vibrant urban neighbourhood with lots of live music, shops, bars and restaurants. We walked pretty much everywhere (even though the hotel is right next to the Omonia train station). So don't let the area put you off - we only used the hotel to sleep in and come back to in the afternoon for a siesta.

Seeing the reviews online, I was very worried and sceptical about this hotel. However, my stay at Sparta Team Hotel really exceeded my expectations. We were on level 3 in room 303, and there were absolutely no bed bugs or cockroaches, everywhere was clean and smelled great. Staff were friendly even when we accidentally left our room key inside. In the room there was even a mini fridge, which is definitely a plus.

The only downsides were that you can easily hear other people from the rooms next to you, and that the location of the hotel is not the safest part of Athens. Late at night it is very dark to walk through and quite scary, especially for women. However, giving that this hotel is only 1 stars and very affordable, I think that overall, it is very very worth it. I would highly recommed!

The staff has been very welcoming and kind. Even after the checkout (which was at 11:00) they let us leave our bags at the reception to go sightseeing. The hotel is located at 15/20 minutes from the historic center and 10 minutes from Monastiraki station. Rooms were clean and not once have we found the shared bathrooms dirty or unavailable. Great value for money.

Despite being close to most attractions, the area surrounding the hotel is pretty degraded. Wouldn't recommend going out at night. The air conditioning did not work properly and would turn on and off randomly as the window was closed.

The staff were generous, adaptable, and communicative to my needs to have a room to myself - despite it being something I specifically requested upon my initial booking.

The location. I was fine to walk the streets late at night but many others I observed did not feel safe given some of the people who live, work or pass through that area. Team Sparta itself was safe and almost a haven away from the broken streets.

If you need a place just for 8 hours of sleep then this is in a great location. Loads of places to eat out nearby but away from the hustle and bustle so you can enjoy a quiet nights stay. Stayed here twice and neither time we got a view like in the photos but it didn’t matter to us - just here to sleep! It was clean and it had air con. Friendly staff too.

Friendly and helpful staff members. Good Breakfasts. Central location with easy access to public transportations and tourist attractions.

No desk in room. Sound insulation very bad, someones chatted outside in the corridor during the night the sound clearly got into the room, which was very disruptive.

I liked the staff, They are very friendly, They always ready to help. The room was very clean and AC is strong and it helped in cold weather. No need for remote control, closing the door of balcony let the AC to work automatically The place is near to the center of the city.

Hot water needs time to be ready, I guess because I was in the six floor.

This property in heart of old downtown area there is nice restaurants n groceries stores n wholesalers there too

Has all things are good n clean but did not control bed bugs there is lot of them I stay there few hrs but bites me all over even bed sheet was clean dont know how they came bite me was itching for 3/4 days

Friendly staff upon arrival, the room was clean, the shower was hot, the bed was comfy and the place was quiet. We had a great nights sleep and are staying here again. It is just round the corner from a fantastic taverna called Klimataria which was absolutely fantastic with traditional Greek live music and dancing!

I really loved the staff, to be specific the blond lady, the receptionist was just amazing!!! I could say the same for her colleague with red short hair!!! They are just superstars!!!!! They were kind, polite and always willing to help us. Whatever we needed they just been on spot !!! Thank you girls for your hospitality!!!!

Unfortunately I left with many bed bug bites on my body. I ve read reviews after I ve booked it. But anyway the price was really cheap , so that was the consequence of my choice. I can’t complain about it.
