Lovely hotel very close to Fira town centre. We really liked the huge swimming pool which was shaded in the afternoon (perfect for swimming with young children!) Mario was so welcoming on our arrival and gave us a map and some local information in terms of buses and things to see on the island. We had a triple room which was long with a double balcony (view of the pool and coast) and had an alcove tucked around the corner where our son and daughter slept. The design was quite clever as it felt like we all had our own space but the kids were still visible. The beds were comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. Overall a brilliant stay :)

I'd have liked some more shelving in the bathroom and wardrobe and more hooks to hang towels. Our baby kept grabbing and emptying our washbag as the only place we could store it was the floor.

Wonderful hotel, the room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom. The pool was lovely and a good size with quite a few sunbeds and umbrellas around it, as well as outdoor sofas and chairs/tables. We got a really good Genius deal on our room which is the main reason we picked this hotel, but even at full price I think it would have been decent value for money if you are interested in a more restful pool holiday.

A little further away than other places from the restaurants and other activities of Fira but still easy to walk to the mini market and main street!

We loved our stay with Hotel Golden Star so much! This was our first summer holiday with our (nearly) 2 year old and we weren't sure what to expect, but the hotel was amazing and made it a really memorable time. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Without exception, they all stopped to chat to our son, making a big fuss of him. Nothing we requested was too much, always happy to give us recommendations or book things for us. The pool is beautiful, our toddler loved swimming in it every day and it was actually very quiet in May so we had the pool to ourselves sometimes. The room was sparkling clean and spacious. Great shower and lovely big balcony. We also found the location ideal for what we wanted, very near to the shops, restaurants and local buses. Would recommend this hotel to any family looking for a relaxed stay with a pool and helpful staff.

The only thing to bear in mind is that there isn't a kitchen, so they can provide drinks but not food. Rooms have a fridge so we just bought food from the local supermarket for breakfast. The pool area is escapable for an adventurous toddler, so we had to keep an eye, but that's nothing new when you have a small child anyway!

The hotel is very clean and looks new. The room upstairs with balcony has the best sunrise view. In my opinion, it is even better than watching the sunset in Oia (from the overcrowded viewing decks). Rooms are cleaned everyday with new linen provided daily as well. The staff are all very cheerful and helpful. They were able to help us extend our stay for a good rate when our flight was cancelled and we had to stay another night. They provided complimentary water and coffee for the first day and guests can buy more if desired. The hotel is near the central part of Fira town centre, where lots of restaurants and shops are. It is also just about 5 mins walk to bus station, where all buses go through. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in in Fira.

First of all, Golden Star is a proper hotel. It might not be a seaside frontline hotel with a sunset view but it ticks all the checkboxes when it comes to "decent place to stay in Santorini". Our room was large enough, spotless clean and very comfortable. The reception staff has also been very kind and professional. The pool area was a really nice place to rest and enjoy a few hours of tranquility. As we had a rented car, we particularly appreciated the fact that the hotel has its own spacious parking. Also, the hotel is just a few minutes walk from the main street with bars and restaurants and 8-10 minutes drive to the airport (is was our last day in Santorini and this was important)

I went to Santorini for my solo trip to celebrate my birthday, and I was giving a gorgeous spacious room. Absolutely love the room. Staff where amazing ( both the lady ( she gave me a list of places to go visit and take nice pictures) and the night receptionist), housekeep amazing and lovely as well. Room looks luxurious and very clean. Mario was the driver who picked me from the airport on my arrival, thank you for also helping me during my stay and suggesting places to go, and eat. Thank you everyone for making my birthday week lovely. When I am visiting Santorini, this will be my number 1 hotel to stay. I'll definitely come back.

Beautifully renovated rooms, very crisp and elegant decor, beds comfortable, bathrooms excellent, very clean, outside space kept immaculately clean too (pool and surrounding area), padded sunbeds too. Small fridge in room. Safe. Hairdryer. Pod Illy coffee machine. Staff friendly and helpful. Uphill is the way to the caldera (west coast) and the centre of Fira, you have views to the East coast sea...best of both worlds, once you get your bearings....also the bus depot is close by for easy access across the island.

If you have walking difficulties, this may not be suitable for you. Steps up to the reception and upto the rooms and down to the poolside or down to poolside rooms. .

It was modern fresh and clean with a short walk to the centre but faraway not to hear any noise. We stayed a week the main person we saw was the cleaner who always cleaned our room and was very polite and professional

20 rooms minimum 40 people but only 14 sun-beds and a seated area. Don’t get me wrong it seems to work well but SOME guests believe they can put a towel on a bed and disappear for hours! Please add a sign saying if you leave take your towel! It’s not Spain! Not the fault of the hotel but it could very well be added to your Do’s and Do Nots Other than that we have had an amazing time and would highly recommend

Pros: - extremely clean - friendly and helpful receptionists - very nice cleaner who did lovely towel decorations - beautiful views of sunrise, and lots of morning sun on the balcony - plenty of sun loungers and other seating areas, pool area is very nice - great location with a short uphill walk to the main area of Fira

Cons: - Right on a main road so can be noisy - no soundproofing so can hear every footstep and conversation - be mindful of low ceiling in maisonette room (not a bother, though the position of the table with TV makes it quite hard to get around the bed especially with the low railing).

Proximity to buses, market, restaurants, three bells of Fira and ease of luggage mobility given Santorini landscapes. The seaview was also great from hotel but note that it is facing airport side. Real Santorini views are on the other opposite side.

The staff failed in providing Eftpos baaed taxi transfer, while the taxi experience was amazing. Despite requesting Eftpos taxi, I was asked to withdraw cash from the Atm at the airport at last minute. Better taking normal Eftpos taxi at better price.
