The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. There was a variety. The hostess explained the food items I was unfamiliar with and relayed stories regarding the different foods. The hosts were so welcoming and available. They were generous with their time and since I was traveling alone, I was so happy they were so welcoming and open and appreciated their stories about the area and the hotel. They would visit as much or as little as I would like. They did not intrude at all and provided me time for quiet reflection but were so willing to visit. They are warm and interesting. I was happy to spend my nights in the oldest hotel in Kalamata and am so happy they took on the renovation to keep this beautiful and important building alive and thriving.
This was not a problem for me, but there is noise from town, but there would be in any place you stayed in the old town. The weather permitted me to have the windows open, but if I wanted, I could close them for more quiet. The air conditioning could keep me cool if I chose to close the windows.

We had an unexpected stop in Kalamata in booked this hotel last minute based on all the amazing reviews. The hotel didnt dissapoint. Good communication with the owners before we arrived to make sure all would be ok with our arrival. On arrival they helped us up the stairs with our luggage and gave us a really nice room. Room was big and the bathroom was really modern. Lovely breakfast in the morning. The hosts were lovely and really helpful. I can see why people go back again and again! The hotel is close to the old town of Kalamata and near plenty of restaurants. It is around a 20 minute walk down to the coast.
Its not a problem for me but if you struggle with stairs then you may have a problem at this hotel as the rooms are all upstairs. The hosts will help you but if you have mobility issues this may not be the place for you.

Staying at Hotel Vasilikon in Kalamata is not merely accommodation - it is a journey back in time. From the moment you step in, you are immersed in a world where history, elegance, and warm hospitality blend seamlessly. The building itself is a beautifully preserved neoclassical gem. The rooms are spacious and exquisitely decorated, offering modern comforts without compromising the hotel’s authentic character. Each morning, a carefully prepared breakfast featuring local delicacies sets the tone for the day.

This is a beautiful place to stay in the town of Kalamata. The couple who own this are so wonderful, gentle and very attentive. The rich history of the building was so interesting to hear and the couple who manage it have renovated it to the highest level. The WIFI worked perfectly well and while we didn’t use the TV in our room it was available. Everything in the bathroom worked perfectly and we were fortunate to have a small balcony too. The rooms are large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were very generous and kept us going all day. If you want somewhere civilised, cultured and or just beautiful then check in here.
Nothing at all. This place is a gem…!

A stunning building in a great location. A wonderful welcome, lots of care and attention to detail, good facilities, very comfortable beds, quiet and peaceful and a good bathroom. It was a lovely place for two special occasions and we were given a gorgeous chocolate cake to celebrate. Thank you!
I would have liked to be able to choose some of the items for breakfast and help myself to coffee, juice and milk. This is a minor thing though. It was great!

A stunning hotel, with a gorgeous interior. The rooms are lovely, large, with comfortable beds, tallest ceilings ever and modern bathrooms. It's been decorated with exquisite taste and every single item has a story of its own. The exceptional hosts, Giorgos and Efi were a pleasure to deal with; kind, welcoming and greeted us with a smile every single day. It added value to our stay, and we will definitely be back!
Nothing. Everything was great!

Centrally located next to many shops and restaurants. In the summer when the sun goes down at around 8:30pm, the whole town comes out and has dinner in the restaurants which is a great atmosphere -- I recommend having a Freddo Cappuccino after dinner and people watching. The room has everything you need -- soft beds, air conditioning, great smelling shampoo and body wash. The couple who own this hotel are very kind and took the time to get to know everyone who is staying there. They just remodeled the hotel (it is the oldest in Kalamata apparently) so you can tell it's a labor of love to them. Breakfast was huge - they absolutely spoiled me with coffee, local pastries, and cheese. Overall, great experience.

The hosts were very welcoming and kind. The breakfast was excellent, with fresh cooked local food made each day. Parking and driving is quite difficult so keep that in mind, although I was able to find a good spot.
There is a restaurant on the corner that is open late on Friday and Saturday nights so there is some crowd noise. It wasn't a problem or too loud but something to consider if you are a light sleeper or go to bed early.

We stayed one night at the hotel, which has been beautifully and lovingly restored by the owners, and it is a feast for your eyes. The room was large with high ceilings and subtly painted shades of grey and pink. The original doors and floors have been stripped back and varnished. The shower room, though small, was exquisite. The bed was large and very comfortable. The rooms lead off the beautiful open communal area, which is bathed in soft light from the glass skylights. The communal areas are beautiful with the painted ceiling, a stripped spiral staircase leading to the loft room and antique furniture. Breakfast was delicious and consisted of handmade local traditional dishes. The location is central to the older part of Kalamata, which at night buzzes with life from all directions. The hotel is in the heart and soul of Kalamata, yet thanks to the excellent roads, you can drive to Kalamata Airport in less than 30 minutes. Parking tip - do not attempt to park at hotel go to City Parking Lot - free and only 5 minute walk.
There was nothing I disliked, but there were a couple of things that would make this an exceptional hotel. Whilst there is air conditioning in the rooms, there was none in the communal areas. It was 30 degrees in Kalamata, and it would be lovely to walk into the cool, beautiful hotel. Secondly, there was not enough storage for clothes. We were only there one night it didn't matter to us, but on a longer stay, I do want to unpack my bag. I want to wish the owners every success with their lovely hotel. Thank you.

The boutique hotel is a historical renovated gem. A must stay for travellers to Kalamata. Effie and George were extremely attentive and friendly hosts that poured infinite love to make our stay exceptional. The location is centrally located and accessible to many eateries, shops, museums and the waterfront.
All is perfect!
