We couldn’t be happier with our stay here in Crete! From the very first moment we felt so warmly welcomed – this is a family-run hotel, and you can truly feel it. They notice their guests, treat everyone with kindness and care, and make you feel like part of their family. That personal touch and genuine hospitality made the whole experience really special. The hotel is clean and well kept, and the breakfast was a wonderful surprise – so much variety, fresh ingredients, and something new to look forward to every morning. It was the perfect way to start the day. The room had air conditioning – absolutely essential and wonderful in the heat – plus a fridge, freezer and a small kitchen with all the necessities, which was very convenient. The outdoor area is like a little oasis, with a pool, pool bar, flowers and greenery. We spent many relaxing moments there, and the atmosphere was both peaceful and cozy. The location couldn’t be better: free parking just outside, only about 15 minutes to the bus stop, and just a few minutes’ walk to the beach and the sea. It feels central, yet quiet and tucked away – the perfect combination. This is truly a place we can recommend wholeheartedly. We leave with so many good memories and would be more than happy to return 🌞🌺

The only small downside was that the bed was a bit hard, but it was manageable. There were also some ants around the pool area, but nothing that spoiled our stay.

Lovely family run business All the staff were wonderful couldn’t do enough for you .Always greeted with a smile The comfiest of beds and good quality bedding and pillows. We slept so well ! The breakfast was excellent huge variety and lots of delicious homemade items such as cakes and Greek pastries The grounds were beautiful and so well maintained with a lovely shaded bar area and plenty of trees to provide shade The pool was always clean and never too busy. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and didn’t want to leave In an area unfortunately increasingly dominated by soulless all inclusive resorts, our stay in an authentic Greek Portokali Apartments made our hearts sing

There was nothing really Some people had difficulty accessing WiFi in their rooms but it wasn’t a problem elsewhere or in the pool area

We liked all the staff (family) members who treated us so well. We attended a BBQ on a Sunday night and the band was so entertaining, such a lovely night and we are glad we attended, we even did some Greek dancing! The pool is very popular and has a shallow area for babies and other little folk - perfect! The bar area is very relaxing and the staff are very interactive if guests want that atmosphere - we enjoyed all the conversations we had whenever we ventured down there. The breakfast is plentiful and has a good variety of food on offer. Guests need to be mindful that this hotel is older than the more modern resort places down on the beachfront and it is in a work in progress with plans to improve and update the rooms and facilities. There is no TV in the rooms but I guess that makes it even better for guest and staff opportunities to interact. Wifi was only available near reception - maybe that could go along way to making Portokali more attractive. Having said that, we still enjoyed our stay.

Not a tiptop steril all inclusive luxus mega resort which you can get anywhere. But a smaller family place ca 40 apartments with reel Greek authentic and relaxing atmosphere and charm. Kind of like Mama Mia musical place. Nice rooms, nice beds, nice breakfast, nice balcony, nice pool and pool area, nice people. Of course Greek style with some 'loose ends' here and there, fx broken tiles, but that was expected and a part of charm of Grece.

We stayed at Portokali during our holidays in August. We liked the place, the atmosphere and the staff of this aparthotel. Our was a last minute booking so we didn’t read much about it, we just had a look to the reviews and we must say it was the right decision. The pool area is really well-kept, with a bar where you can enjoy drinks during the day and even in the evening, surrounded by a beautiful garden! The rooms large and bright with a nice balcony, in our case with view on the pool and the see, that you can reach with a small walk. In the morning some delicious ladies prepared breakfast with homemade bread and cakes and many other good things. Maybe the only thing to improve is the shower size in the bathroom.. The two brothers who own the hotel were very helpful and hospitable, as all the fantastic Cretans we met.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. The staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home :). The hotel was spotless, and our apartment was not only spacious but also immaculate and delightful. Nestled in a serene location surrounded by olive trees, the hotel offered a peaceful retreat. The pool and pool bar provided the ideal spots to unwind, whether before heading to the beach or after returning :). The breakfast was a real treat, with a variety of fresh and delicious options, including some delightful Greek specialties.

We've recently had the pleasure of staying at the Portokali hotel and were thoroughly impressed! The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. Our room was a spacious mini-apartment with a private bathroom and kitchenette, making it feel like a home away from home. The facilities in the room also included an air conditioner and a refrigerator. The hotel's amenities included a clean and inviting pool, as well as a cozy bar where could be enjoyed a refreshing drink. The staff were extraordinarily warm and welcoming, always ready to help with any queries or requests. And, best of all, the hotel was just a short walk from the beach! Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Crete.

1 star hotel. Yes, the hotel is worn and needs renovation. But it also has so much charm, and the price reflects very well what you get. Portokali means orange. But there is no orange at the hotel.Why not a fresh glass of orange juice in the morning, i love to pay 2-3 euro for that. No prices and menu in the bar.Very close to the beach. The wifi was in top. It was a very authentic family run place that we would like to return to. Close to the busstation to Hersonissos. Taxi about 10 euro to Hersonissos. Several restaurants nearby. Great food at, Palazzo di mare, best pizza at restaurant Volkano, nice food at La Krina and located in an authentic area ,but the best food and service by Tritonas. We´ll return.

Animal smell from the neighbors.

We loved hospitality and exceptional kindness of the owners. Good and relaxing atmosphere. Breakfasts were delicious, which also included traditional cretan Dakos. There is BBQ and live music arranged every sunday evening, and it is 100% worth it! We are grateful! Absolutely recommended.

The only things in walking distance are tourist traps, so car is necessary. A lot of mosquitos inside the room, every night a got at least 3-5 bites
